Dude500X Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 not bad so far. looks like im blowing up a second reactor. good combat tho, but omg gettin used to x being o and o being x is hard
cornbreadtm Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 I remember the first time I played FF7... Long time ago, loved it, got cloud stickers and put them on my diapers.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 Good luck trying to figure out the story once that really starts to kick in. Unless you've already played Crisis Core. And even then, that doesn't help much...
Call me Mark Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 6 is a much better game hands down. Not too confusing story, likable characters, touches some controversial matters and has thee Badass villain in FF history.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 [spoiler=Dissidia stuff]One could also say that Kefka upstages Sephiroth in Dissidia, as he's much more amusing, and more badass, than Sephy ever could hope. All that long sword momma's boy ever really does is call Cloud a puppet, meanwhile Kefka is once again up to his old tricks with Terra, lets her escape because, let's be honest, she'll just find her way back to him again to get the Slave Crown put back on, and likes to dick around with Kuja. Kefka is an asshole and all, but at the end of the day, he's also the only really interesting villain. it's not just all destroy this, serious business that with him. He finds time for merrymaking and glee, and sometimes sadistic merrymaking and glee at the expense of others.
LordJerle Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 6 ( or 3 in japan) is a much better game hands down. Not too confusing story, likable characters, touches some controversial matters and has thee Badass villain in FF history. Kefka and badass do not belong in the same sentence.
polluxval Posted March 26, 2013 Posted March 26, 2013 i loved all the FF until FFX. since then, i avoid anything related to FF. (yes, even FF XIII) Many people consider FF7 the best of the series, but in fact, it is the most interesting, but not the best. Also, most of its fame is due to the success of the 3d - cd - playstation (contrary to the n64 that used "cartridges" wich will surelly limited square). anyway, it has, i dare to say, the second best history on the FF series but the one with most fans (wich were rewarded with a cgi movie - Advent Children). For me, Final Fantasy 6 (3 in America) is the best so far. Mainly because there is no EMO/wanna be badass/lame hero, there are a lot of characters with lovely and interesting backgrounds, could be played by two players, the main story rocks, the music is still the best so far (we are talking about MIDII, do not confuse it with the new era that began with FF7), the villian is a True villian not another EMO, etc. etc. etc. But this is, obviously, my personal opinion. ps. Kefka's theme is awesome.

Don't see the word Kefka on my previous post so.. HAHA!
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 [spoiler=MY nostalgia!]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbXVNKtmWnc
Dude500X Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 might try 6 out.. is it true you can get it on PS1?
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Yes, I have such a copy. SNES is still the better option, though.
Jerbsinator Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 A little OT but I still say Chrono Trigger is the better SNES RPG over Final Fantasy 6, though FF6 is very very good. Too bad Square Enix is a shell of it's former self.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 even with a specialized PSX platform? Still load times, and all the PS1 version has over the SNES version is an FMV or two, and they're really nothing special. Sort of like the Chrono Trigger PS1 release. I could also say that the DS re-release of Chrono trigger is equally useless, but eh. ALSO; Chrono trigger is a massively overrated game, much like Secret of Mana. So is Final Fantasy VI, mind you, but I still find it to have a better story, more interesting characters, a more interesting world and a much better final boss.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 [spoiler=Lavos]I wouldn't classify a parasite as a badass.
Call me Mark Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 Yeah, more than anything it grosses you out.
Dude500X Posted March 27, 2013 Author Posted March 27, 2013 just got a copy of ff 6 at the thrift shop gonna rip into it when I finish ff 7 and legend of legaia which i also got at the thrift shop
polluxval Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 i'm surprised no one ever mentioned Secret of Evermore. That game its fantastic and the music, i still remember it by memory from time to time...
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted March 27, 2013 Posted March 27, 2013 FUCK YES SECRET OF EVERMORE But it really has nothing to do with anything...
polluxval Posted March 28, 2013 Posted March 28, 2013 im not talking about this thread only, but also about all the others. i mentioned here because its from square soft, has teh same musc author and was made for the same console (well talking about the FF games in general)
chakaru11 Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 Heck yes Final Fantasy VII. The story is great, if a bit depressing. It was the first rpg I ever played, so it holds a special place in my heart XD I once even owned the PC version, which can be modded to death. I remember downloading a mod which swapped the ingame and overmap character models with the battle screen models. Fun indeed. But if we are talking about Square's PSone games in general, my vote goes to Crono Cross. Beautiful graphics, a great story with an overflow of characters, parallel worlds and an addicting combat system.
