Rogue13 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Hi y'all, So, I guess a couple of months ago Adobe decided that they didn't want to track registrations of Photoshop CS2 (and the rest of the Creative Suite 2) any longer. So, they decided to release it gratis. CS2 is 10 years old, but it still has all the features that I'm looking for (and many, many more that I don't yet know enough to use). Just think of it as doing all the basic things, just not any of the fancy new ‘content aware‘ stuff. CS2 runs on my Windows 7 machine right out of the box (i.e. no tweaking required). So, head on over to Adobe and get it: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?pid=4485850&e=cs2_downloads You will want to scroll to the bottom, the file you want is Photoshop CS2, you will also need the Serial Number to activate the program. Also If you want to edit .dds files (or more specifically, save them) you will also need NVIDIA Texture Tools for Adobe Photoshop (or something that does the same thing). You can download it from here: https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-texture-tools-adobe-photoshop. I'm using the 32 bit version (I tried the 64 bit version first without success). And yes ... it works fine on machines with ATI cards.
Lagoon0654 Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Also works just fine on windows 8, in case anyone else on here uses windows 8. However you must use the 32 bit version of the nvidia tools. 64 bit will cause some weird problems, assuming it'll even install.
Pixie-K Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I had CS4 about a year ago, but upon using it the 1st time I just sat there like "bUttOn dO wAt?" I uninstalled it an hour later. I can't imagine I would have much more success with CS2, I'm hard-up when it comes to learning new software sometimes. Thank you for sharing this with the community though!
Apollyna Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Oh my God, thank you! Paint.NET does awful things to my .DDSs, so this should be a great alternative...
gregathit Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Oh my God, thank you! Paint.NET does awful things to my .DDSs, so this should be a great alternative... Gimp is freeware and works just fine for editing dds files: http://www.gimp.org/
woodenstick Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Wished I'd seen this sooner, just torrented a copy yesterday LOLBut seeing as its pretty much free now, that's not stealing right? Learning this is a pain, wished I was a girl who edits their fb photos right now. Spent an hour just trying to color in a part of the mesh...
Stratovarius Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 So, head on over to Adobe and get it: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?pid=4485850&e=cs2_downloads You will want to scroll to the bottom, the file you want is Photoshop CS2, you will also need the Serial Number to activate the program. Minor note: you need to log into your Adobe account to access the CS2 suite list for download, just in case if anyone tries the link provided and doesn't see anything. If you don't have an account yet, it's free and takes a few minutes to set up. Thanks again for the link!
