Very cool.

Can you share the tools used to create it?

Edit the .cat file by using "SKEV Cat Ana".
Pack/Unpack Tool (SKEV Cat Ana)
https://www.loverslab.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=398820

Spoiler

1 Extract the .rar file in a folder of your choice
2 Extracting .cat - Drag'n'drop desired .cat file to be extracted in "SKEV_cat_extract.bat"
3 Repacking .cat - Dag'n'drop desired folder to create a .cat file in "SKEV_cat_pack.bat"

1.Open the unpacked file in a binary editor and search for "DDS" to extract the texture.
 __noname_2 - Texture (Normal)
 __noname_3 - Texture (Berserk)
2.After editing the extracted "DDS", use a binary editor to update the original file.
Note: If you change the size of the "DDS" file, you will need to modify the first address of the file in the header section.

Thanks for that. I guess it would be much harder to make something similar for the other 2 girls, right? The question is if the clothing is a seperate mesh as in Senran Kagura or if it's part of the body mesh.

You Da Man!

Tried it and so far it works fine. However, I hope you can elaborate more on the binary editor step.

Here is what I did:

I used  HxD to open one of the extracted files (_nonoame2 for example)

I checked for DDS and found it

I deleted the header so the file starts with DDS

Opened it in Gimp and got this

I checked everything including the clothes of the other two, but the body mesh is incomplete, so it is impossible at present.
What I can do is to make the clothes look transparent.

__noname_2(3) is simply a concatenation of the "DDS" files, except for the headers.
The file you fetched is the first one.

You can easily extract the DDS with X-Ripper, but please note that the file size is not correct.

Noted and working!

few textures are not readable in my experience so far (in order they are the 4th @5001D0 and 9th @B02464).

Notably they happen to have a DX10 identifiers.

Also the last texture (17th @ 12028D8 ) is not extracted since i dunno where it terminates.

As for mod ideas:

There is a  costume for saki (combat Gi) that could be very easily turned to bottomless with proper modding skills.

Take a look at texture 12 in the list below

(* for inaccessible textures)

{

texture offsets (saki Gi noname2 as basis)
01    50    -    1000CF
02    1000D0    -    30014f
03    300150    -    5001CF
04    5001D0    -    600263    *
05    600264    -    6022E3
06    6022E4    -    702363
07    702364    -    9023E3
08    9023E4    -    B02463
09    B02464    -    C024F7    *

Nice one! Is it possible to make a version of any Aya’s costumes without hat?

It’s a shame that notwithstanding those revealing costumes, this game doesn’t have any other ecchi content.

There is no hair in the area hidden by the hat, so unfortunately it's best not to take the hat off.
I wish there were more costumes I could modify... (Like in Senran Kagura.)

Hi, can you explain how you can extract normal textures for the models?

tried both x-ripper and hxd methods and while i can extract many textures for recoloring and the like, the normal texture makes it so a removed bra for example becomes invisible.

The normal map textures for this game are BC7 dds.
I believe there are some dds in the extracted textures that can't be opened by gimp, but they are normal map textures. (Not all, though.)
It looks like you need a plugin to load BC7 in gimp.
I don't use gimp so I can't walk you through the process, but if you search for "gimp BC7" you'll find instructions.

Wow, great work. Thanks for all that. Any chance to remove the panties too? I'd love to see a no panties version of Saki's school uniform. Yes, I'm a perv. ?

Saki has always been my favorite character in the Oneechanbara games because of her attitude and I have a thing for japanese school girls with swords plus I always prefered characters with small or flat breasts.

@S_S_Majin,

Great work, and thanks for including Lei.

I have a question I would like to ask... is it possible to mod the textures of the dds files you've been working on to change the appearance of some of the costumes for the three females in the game, Aya, Saki, and Lei, instead of just having different color palettes for the costumes.

What I mean to say by this is, if you wanted to create a completely different look to any of the existing costumes in the game for the three different female characters, could you make a costume that was completely of your own design?

I know that something like this was possible to do with SOTR (Shadow of the Tomb Raider), as I and some fellow modders from another modding forum had made some mods for that game by editting the textures of the dds files, some of which resulted in completely new costume designs for Lara Croft.

I realize that something like this is not always possible depending on whether or not textures are actually baked onto the model or not, so if that might be the case with Onee Chanbara: Origin, then it might require a little more work into trying to import a body model base to overlay across the existing game's models to achieve a custom costume mod, or build a body model from scratch and try to import it into the game somehow.

What do you think? Is something like this possible for Onee Chanbara: Origin, or are we limited to what we can currently do in terms of how far we can mod the game?
