problem with nexus?

I wonder, honestly, whoever runs nexus must be aware that he has completion, that is less restrictive in the case of LL and better done in the case of steam workshop... why the dakka banning? does he not want to grow nexus into something better or is he hoping everyone gets bored of it and looks for alternatives?

I am sure he is very aware of the various mod sites. He might even have an account here to see what is gong on and what is being mentioned here about his site. If not he has someone else doing it. It only makes "business" sense.

He as a plan for a mod site. He is carefully developing it to be what he wants it to be. Nothing else. Like a restaurant that sells chicken. They don't sell beef. Ok they have steak houses that are competitors. They don't care. They only want to focus on Chicken. Doesn't matter that there is money in steak.

I'm sure he does. Before this thread was pruned, Zaldiir and lisnpuppy both made an appearance in this very thread. I just wonder why they bothered. I mean, are they here because they want to get mods for themselves that would get the average person banned over on the Nex, or are they here for something else?

A long time ago there also was this certain member a few people, myself included, thought to be a Nexus shill.

On a 'mission' to instill trouble and controversy on here wherever possible. Encouraging fights between members, name-calling, posts in a very condescending tone. The whole nine yards of trolling, all with a half-assed "it was all just in good fun" whenever he got called out on it.

And one day all of a sudden he was gone. Vastly improving the quality of the site by staying away. I still wonder why?

Seemingly a major objective of this person's mission was the 'punishment' of one particular banned ex-Nexus member who harboured an extreme hatred for that site and repeatedly spoke of plans to harm their network by whatever means possible.

I am not familiar with Zaldiar or linspuppy on the nexus. I remember Buddha and Dark One etc. However If they are here I am sure it is to gather information for business purposes especially on this thread simply because it is a thread r/t problems with Nexus. Anyone that is running a "business" such as a web site etc for money would be interested in what is being said by others even if it is on a site that is a competitor. However I doubt that it was the actual persons from the Nexus. They would most likely use a different name that anything publicly connected to moderator(s) on the Nexus site. It is likely that they were someone that was just using the name to get access.

That makes sense. If someone was a threat to LL I am sure that someone from this site (affiliated) would go to another site to gather info etc. However I don't see them providing punishment to the individual. Just try to get more info.

It takes a very small and petty individual to go through all that effort to attack someone else like that. I don't see anyone affiliated with this site doing that however.

...Im entering this while my system installs itself...

From a personal view, thankfully Im not banned from Nexus, but Ive seen what it does to people

I first entered this modding thing because I saw some very interesting pics in Nexus by some legendary screenshooters

I said to myself "why cant I do that too?"

Deeper and deeper I looked into the internet to find out what made their pics so awesome

Turns out is a mixture of photoshop, talent (of course) and very rare mods

But where are the rare mods? well the answer is: Here!! right at LL

My first pic I posted at Nexus was of my character wearing a very rare dress (Something called "NANA" zuoyueng... something) (sorry chinese is well... chinese to me, I mean no disrespect) Turns out "its a rip"

Long story short, my pic (which had collected a few endorsements and good opinions) got instantly deleted

I know what some people think about endorsements, Im not a beggar, but I like them, it feels like feedback and is gratifying so see someone likes your work

I had seen that dress a lot and I innocently thought I could post an image but I cant, because they are watching

Its really annoying that notion...

I had managed to post more images but Im limited to what they consider "legal" when I have tons of other mods I would like to screenshoot, clothing that looks infinitely awesome on my characters and I cant share that because they dont like it

I released a mod which is explicitly a rip from Alice, Madness Returns, had to do it here because there no starting point to begin telling how banned I would have been if i would have done it at Nexus, and I cant even share pictures of it

Ive seen how easy they are on using the banhammer, and Ive been careful, I think I even managed to get away with murder a few times by finding the empty spaces in their rules, but its too much risk

I think its wrong to consider LL as a "porn site" yeah it has a lot of it, but theres something for everyone and Ive found a lot more than just porn in LL.

Im not too much into internet porn, so I put an add blocker

I still love LL because of its freedom and all the good stuff you can find here  ^_^

Oh Hell..

http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/news/998

It’s our aim then to open up the Nexus fully with an API for web designers and a software hook for developers, all offered free of charge. Think of a service like Skyrim G.E.M.S.; they’d be able to plug in to our API and retrieve information about all the mods they have in their database straight from the Nexus without the need to program a scraper or manually enter data. On the software side we want to provide hooks and API data to game developers so that they can present and provide mods to gamers from within the games themselves; including being able to download the mod straight from our servers to their games. We’d happily allow that. We wouldn’t look to charge for this service at all (either to gamers or the game developers); we think modding should be open and free to everyone and I want to run these sites on good-will; it’ll cost us a lot of money to provide free downloads to everyone, but I think what goes around, comes around. If you offer a good service that people appreciate then donations (in the form of Premium Membership from users) and top-ups from game developers who appreciate that offering those millions of downloads last month probably cost us a lot of money so they might want to consider helping out with a donation will be more than enough. Running on good-will rather than private investment and money-grabbing has worked well for us so far, and there’s no reason it won’t going forward as well.

Now they are trying to move to other sites. LOL.

Wall post tiem!

It takes a very small and petty individual to go through all that effort to attack someone else like that. I don't see anyone affiliated with this site doing that however.

Let's call the big bad Nexus undercover creep 'person A' (for asshole) and the renegade troublemaker 'person B' (for brigand).

The whole affair went down like that:

Person B did comment on this site here quite a few times, reporting interesting information about the Nexus due to a long-standing membership on there. From the beginning in all the person's posts the same hatred for that site's figureheads could be noticed that is also present in other banned ex-members, for example myself.

Person A on the other hand loved to attack other members in any thread. Apparently trolling them whenever possible. In the archived thread Lemonbalm linked he stepped in and wrote an apologetic pro-Nexus comment, well aware of how utterly misplaced it was in a Nexus hate thread. While at that time there was a sister thread to this one here dedicated to expressing positive feelings towards the Nexus. Posting there however wouldn't have been successful trolling, would it?

Inevitably persons A and B started squabbling and quarreling. In this thread here and in others as well. And then person B did something very foolish. Person A naturally enjoyed using that incident to deliver 'the killing blow', resulting in person B losing face and leaving LL. Shortly after that (and after another thread with a trainwreck-ish fight between person A and yet another member), the badguy left. I still wonder if a moderator did warn the person or if it was on his own accord.

The site rules had been changed and personally attacking other members has explicitly declared a rule violation. Person A had once mentioned to be in fact a senior moderator. On a different forum however, not the Nexus. Could naturally have been a lie, dunno.

The whole affair reeked of personal vendetta over a course of several weeks.

Actually I think Zaldi(i)r and Lisnpuppy are about the only moderators of that site who aren't total bastards and not (yet? :s) hopelessly corrupted by the Nexus influence. As opposed to irredeemable pant-men like BB., B. and TVD.

I have tons of other mods I would like to screenshoot, clothing that looks infinitely awesome on my characters and I cant share that because they dont like it.

Then do it here. Something I have been forced to after getting banned for one of the first images I ever submitted to their imageshare. It was three months on that site without offending anyone. Still on their servers, a user image for the mod it depicts. Pedophile child pornography. By a perverted pope of porn.

Edit: I've just checked - my four pics in total have been removed from that mod page! Good work, Nesuxers! They were there for only one year and a half.

Sure, this community is not as big (not yet!) and you don't get shiny endorsement points or as many comments on what you post. Though now that LL has been improved and upgraded you might consider the 'Likes' on here an equivalent to their twinkly kudos and endorsements magic.

Recently I made a sock puppet account there for the sole purpose of warning an apparently nice member of impending doom... She had posted a picture with one of those 'Alice' dresses. Not the only one who did that... I saw the image by chance and decided not to sit by and let the girl get banned or receive a warning for it.

And I think I have this 'NANA' mod as well, used an element of it once in a mash-up :).

Oh god poor girl, its a very good thing you warned her

I did my best to try to prevent people from speaking out loud of my little rip, so it remains obscure, secret and safe

But I cannot see the whole stream going on, so if anyone fails to heed my warnings on the thread I posted this little thing, is a disaster waiting to happen.

my first account on Nexus got banned for pointing out that a furry mod (you probably can guess which one) wasn't perfect and pointed out to an off-site modders ressource that could have improved it. Guess the reason:

trolling/hatespeech and spam (apparently any link offsite is considered spam/rival advertisement)

made another account about 2 weeks later, only use it to download stuff now.

The most prolific modder in Nex rolls out his latest: FarCry 3 By Shadow0987

However, his track record works against him, mostly because his mods, I'm sorry to say, are more ornamental as novelties. I want to go down there and tell him that he should be thinking hard before making and releasing any mods to the public, asking questions like, "Is the mod worth downloading?" -- but I doubt he'll listen.

It's no wonder he's being dissed out, and it'll be not for long before the Nex KGB steps in and gag anyone commenting in there.

BTW, I'm not going to delve into further drama, as I see that competition and conflict between modders is really fierce, and much to my distaste, some modders and end-users are terribly arrogant.

Wait, since when did Millenia become a mod? I remember using all his weapon mods for new vegas..

Damn I need to pay more attention to nexus on goings.

So now go and shut the f*** up, or else I will f*** you up, understood?

rofl.  Such hostility in the comments.

more endorsements NOT EQUAL to more respect.

There.  Fixed that for you.

We have all established that very few people actually endorse anything due to how the endorsement system is set up and how lazy folks (myself included) are.

I am the same way.. however if the author delivers an excellent product that I greatly enjoy  and use quite often (IE can't live without) I will endorse each and every time.

I look at the download vs endorsements for unknown mods to try. If the ratio is too far apart then I  might pass unless I find reviews of the mod to indicate its quality.

My problem with the Nexus is that it became a society of ass kissing, full of drama queens, sacred cows, and moderators who are ready to shot a sparrow with a fucking gatling because he took a shit on their lawn mower. Ever since I registered my account there back in 2004, when it was still a small site worth frequenting just like any other mod site, my reason to be there was always the same - to download/upload mods and give feedback to their autors. And even though I managed to produce 2 mods during my career that were quite popular ("Lady Death" mod for Oblivious and "Type 6" for NV), I was never interested in being widely adored and/or respected, hence if I received a negative comment or a thumb down I was totally ok with it, because: not everyone has to like my work, having my flaws pointed out I can improve, I believe that everyone is free to speak his/her mind as long as it's not blatant trolling, and foremost because it's my decision to upload a mod to the public in the first place. The whole "modders work hard for us, FOR US!!!11" theme I find quite laughable; I mean, we're not fucking miners, it's just a hobby where sharing is part of the fun as it's not fun to make something and keep it only for yourself. I don't get where this negativity fobia came from, to me it's just stupid and hilarious, especially at its current state, when saying anything other than "OMG I LOVE IT KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!" can get you in troubles. Example: an ambitious modder uploads a mod in aplha state and asks for "constructive feedback"; there's some strangely active guy in the comments section who tries to stifle and ridicule every critical comment; you try to talk with the guy arguments vs arguments but your comments get deleted to give the impression that you have nothing more say; you re-paste your last comment because you're fucking annyoyed; you get reported and banned because why not. YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! So now 95% of comments are from apologists who have no idea about something like taste, style, or quality and whose constructivity is all about "BBP support please" and "convert it to this body type" - never ending story since the second half of Oblivious.

I still like frequenting Nexus but mostly to "check things out" - download a mod out of curiosity and view in Photoshop/Nifscope, rarely to actually use anything in-game (my NV mods + NMC's pack). I don't even feel like this site appeals to people like me anymore - who are not interested in manga/anime but quality and lore friendly stuff. Maybe it's even fortunately that I dislike every single body mod for Skyrim since I don't feel tempted to mod for this game.
