MrJohnTrain Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 MY MOD LIST: https://pastebin.com/FmGyhH8u The faces of many NPCs have different skin color than their bodies. For some it is not very bad, for others it is egregious. This color mismatch also only seems to affect Female Human/Elf NPCs. It affects both vanilla and mod NPCs, but NPCs from mods seem to be affected worse. Perhaps it has something to do with CBBE and Pretty Face for CBBE? Interestingly, the "setnpcweight" command that usually works like black magic in these situations with messed up NPC graphics actually makes them worse, darkening the face and adding strange vertical lines across the forehead. It all started when I installed ASO (Artistic Skyrim Overhaul), a complete vanilla texture overhaul that makes Skyrim look cartoony and kinda oilpaint-y. It uses loose files installed via a mod manager. I have since removed the mod, but the mismatched faces it has caused (or perhaps was merely the catalyst for) still persist. Ideally, I would like to fix this issue, and then re-add the ASO mod with all of the face data removed from it so I can play with the textures I like and not mess up my NPCs. I have jumped through more hoops than can be imagined for the last two weeks to try to fix this. I did the CTRL-F4 regen face data in CK. I went into TES5Edit and loaded all of my mods up and looked at the most offending NPCs to see if they had mismatched/conflicting graphical data, and there was none. I have experienced bugs upon errors upon bugs with CK, and it had really tested my patience. After going through everything just to get it working, the face regen did nothing. Eventually everything just got more messed up with different degrees of mismatched fuckery and red bars on foreheads. I just ended up manually deleting all facegen data and that has made everything much better, but often there is still a more minor color mismatch, and some NPCs are still very poorly mismatched. One idea I had was to somehow get the vanilla facegen data back, but I'm not sure how. Maybe this is a mod conflict that I haven't figured out yet, even though I've used LOOT, WyreBash, and TES5Edit to sift this sort of thing out. TLDR: I installed a vanilla texture overhaul mod which caused a face/body color mismatch on my NPCs. After removing the mod, the problem persisted. Over the last couple of weeks, I have tried most of the things that are usually suggested. Nothing has worked, but some things have changed the severity of this issue.
Grey Cloud Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 Instead of posting your mod list on a third-party site, why not post a jpg image of the actual problem right here at LL?

I always thought it was bad etiquette to post a big ugly list of mods in your post. Makes scrolling a pain.
Grey Cloud Posted August 16, 2020 Posted August 16, 2020 If you had taken ten seconds to look around tech support you would see that load orders are posted all the time. People generally use spoilers to avoid the scrolling issue. That said, my point was that since your problem is a visual thing an image would be more help than a list of plug-in or mod names. Also there are different types of 'colour mismatch' so an image would help to pin it down. You post images by dragging the jpg to the paperclip at the bottom left of the reply window. You can use spoilers on images too.
Heroine HoneyCrotch Posted August 17, 2020 Posted August 17, 2020 Use tes5edit Load all mods and expand skyrim.esm and expand races and see what is over writing races that are affected
