Nymra's Prison Guide (POP manuals and mods)

This is an experiment of mine, inspired by @donttouchmethere and his vast blog and due to the fact, that I think that too many mods, Prison Overhaul Patched (with all its sub mods) lack documentation, like a lot. 

Especially POP, SUM and DDe in combination are feature rich even beyond POP itself and could be useful for other modders too (which sadly never happens). 

This thread is meant to give an idea of how POP can be used, how I use it and how the features of POP, SUM and DDe can be used. 
This is an ongoing project and will also include manipulated files, mod suggestions and my own patches for said mods.

How I play POP

 

1. The POP Profile

For a long time now I tried to integrate POP into normal playthroughs, but I figured that I just dont have enough mods that trigger crime in a way I want it to (for example Sexlab Adventures, its too easily avoidable to get a crime and so on). 
I got to the point where I decided to make an isolated POP Profile with MO2 that is optimized for POP. So all mods installed there are meant to make the prison experience as perfect as possible. 

I basically start a new game, set all mods up, configure POP and then start the prison sentence via POP MCM -> Debug -> Trigger major sentence (you need to have a guard in your crosshair!) 
alternativly you could just set a crime gold via console / other mod in the hold you are in. 


2. Mods to make prison more fun

I am currently testing the following mods:

 

RandomIdleAnimation

This mod allows you to exchange the normal idles with your own (and also random ones).
I replaced the normal Idles with the ZapWriStruggle animations from ZAP 8+. 

That way, whenever I stop moving, the PC automatically is in a kneeling/struggling pose with hands tied. 

There is another mod that would allow this to be even more dynamic (DAR Action) but I could not get around testing that yet (and it does not support POP yet either).

True Player Idling

This mod allows to set a hotkey for making the PC idle like an NPC. the PC will walk around in the cell, using furnitures, markers and so stuff.

This requires other mods to place more markers (or more interesting ones). 

IMPORTANT: You are required to manually hit the hotkey again and toggle the autoidle OFF when "Get down prisoner" is yelled at you or things can break/look messy

Zaz Animation Pack Helper Addon

I use this to place more interesting furnitures into the cell that the PC can "idle" with :)

It uses spells, so you cannot use this in POP Hardcore mode. 

 

3. Mods that are incompatible with POP or make your life hard when configured in the wrong way

City Overhauls

Virtually all mods that alter cities have issues with POP. 
ELFX Exterior lighting also.

Most of those incompatibilities can be fixed via Positioner. 
Just move to all the cities you want to be improsned in and check for the Pillory and X-Crosses if they are hidden behinde other stuff.
Then use Jaxon Positioner (or whatever) to remove the stuff. Sometimes its quite some work (and sadly is not saved too). 

Some mods change the way NPCs move in the cities it seems, those break POP completly when u use "Walk" and not "Teleport" for the Jailer because the Jailer (and the guards) tend to lose their way and run in circles. 

Combat Mods with Stagger

Many combat mods use Stagger for attacks or some similar system. 
Those will interfere with whipping, because the stagger breaks the PC out of the furnitures/poses used. 
They can also kill the PC or drain health quite fast when criticals are called. 

I recommend using God Mode while in POP when using combat mods in general.
Also, toggle all "Phyiscal attacks stagger" options in your combat mods off (Ultimate Combat, Weapon Parry Mod, Action Combat just to mention some).

4. Using POP itself

 

Pop has ALOT of settings and it can be very confusing in both setting them up, understanding how they work individually or how they work together and what can go wrong. 
And oh boy, alot of stuff can go wrong :D Which is especially annoying because only some of it can be fixed mid-sentence.

 

First Steps:

Decide on how you want to play

- POP only or integrated in normal playthrough?
- DD heavy or with little or none
- fast or slow sentence (how much of your realtime you want to spent in prison) 

- a lot of sex or whipping or just beeing tied/imprisoned/humiliated/chastized etc. 
- alone or with follower
- gender of your abuser? 

and many more. That is just to give you a rough idea of how much you can customize in POP. 

MCM Walkthrough
 

GENERAL

- Crime
Personally I recommend to set "Maximum Jail Sentence" to 1 Days for testing purposes. So you can make a full run in a small amount of time to test if everything works as intended.
Later you can increase the max. sentence up to values to your liking. 
If you set Bounty to days to 100 and get a 1000 crime you can have up to 10 days in prison (if you set max Jail Sentence to 10 days or more) 
So basically you can spend two ingame months and a lot of time in Prison if you like (I want to make a long term test with 66 days in the future) 

In general for sexy content I recommend only Major Crime, so I usually lower the "Major Crime Treshold" to make sure that EVERY time I get arrested it is for major crimes (it changes the content of the mod massivly. If you are not too much into sexy prison you can use minor crimes, it involves less brutality and gives different options (as always everything can be customized anyway). 
Personally I just dont need the seperation. 

Captors Travel Speed: I recommend "Fast Walk", its the best between immersion and functionality. "walk" is somehow working bad with the PC leash system dunno.
Chance for Fun before Travel is always 100% so the guards or jailer will ALWAYS fuck the PC before he walks the PC to the next scene. 

I dont like Female on Female content, so I can set "Chance of Female Jailer" to 0% (or 100% if I like it the other way round). 

Use the Teleport FX: no idea honstly, never tested

Captor use preferred path: YES (I had strange issues if not. but needs more testing)
Guards will also have "Fun" Before Travel (see above), I always check this either. 

Leash Pause Delay: IMPORTANT! The autowalk feature ... it sux. its not pops fault (I think), other mods have the same issue. 
With the leash pause delay you can use the movement kes to walk the PC yourself. THis is usefull especially with STAIRS (the bain of the leash system). 
I use it for immersion. 

NOTE: YOu cannot run away, you will just be teleported to the Guard/Jailer, so dont even try, it just breaks immersion. 

HardCore Mode: I do not recomment to use this early on. It will prevent you from ever fix shit with items or spells. Use it only when ur settings are perfect and everything is working.
It will disallow sleep and have you gagged all the time (at least it did that earlier) and I hate having the gag nonstop.

Fast Forward: 

NEVER -> you will always be walked to the new destination
ONCE -> you will teleport one time to the next destination
ALWAYS -> will always use teleport 

Use always when u dont like beeing walked or dislike the leash system. Some walks take ALOT of time, be warned! 

Effects Refresh Rate: Interestingly even with a good PC I have more issues with a low refresh rate (1 sec or so) so I leave it, Basically also had zero impact on how the mod works, so nothing really sped up or worked better, more the other way round. 

Time Scale:
This is a VERY Important setting. 
It will modify how fast time will pass, so how much realtime you spent in prison. 

Fast Time Scale will modify only the time you spend waiting or in the pillory without any attention.
Slow Time Scale will modify the timescale during whipping and sex. 
The names are missleading tho, you can set the scale to whatever you like.


I use Fast time Scale 30, so when I set events to 0,5 hour ticks I get a fucking scene in the cell every other REAL minute
For sex and whipping I use 5, so if I spent 4 real minutes in a scene ingame time will only proceed by 20 minutes (I noticed that I get MORE scenes this way)

Prison Outfit: always naked (of course. Why are there other options? :D is this a nexus mod? :D)

That's a very good idea.

I wanted to do that for various mods on my blog too, but I always find excuses ? Especially the idea to list mods to go well to together or spice things up without causing clusterfucks is very helpful (cost so much time to test all those combos ingame ?).

You're very courageous and motivated if you start the Mod Guide idea with Inte mods ?

Random question, Is there anything out there i can add or configure to make slave tats be applied to PC as a punishment, or do i have to keep RP'ing it in my mind by adding it manually haha

the mods Rape Tattoos and Fade Tattoos do that. 

The mods apply random tattoos after sex and you can adjust what kind of and bunch of other stuff.

Thats what i had an idea of using but for some reason i get a weird bug with Rapetattoos where i can't move the sliders or interact with any part of the menu in mcm

Hmm Offtopic, but Rape Tattoos MCM takes quite a while to load even on my new machine. The more tats you have the longer it takes. Maybe give it some minutes just to be sure? Meaning open the MCM and then wait 5 minutes or so? :D
 

If that does not work I suggest posting in the Monoman Mod tweaks support thread, monoman is usually very active.
