Hadvar Bug

Anyone know what causes Hadvar to get stuck here?  The game continues and the opening sequence goes on without him, and his dialogue is skipped.  The game starts up fine but he keeps getting stuck.

 

This happened from my last installed game, and now continues in a new installed Skyrim.  I don't know what causes it, I thought it would be corrected with a whole new install after getting a new motherboard but it continues

No I don't know for certain unless you have a mod that added something there that his horse can't get by because of poor navmeshing.

 

However, the vanilla opening is well-known to be glitchy and I'd advise going to Alternate Start - Live Another Life. This will avoid the entire issue.

To echo what Psalam said, ASLAL gives all of your mods a chance to load up safely while you're standing in the prison cell.  Once you get to the Mara statue, you can still choose the vanilla start from there if you want.
