Brand New to The Sims 4 How do You Add a CC Sim to An Existing Household?

Ok....brand new to this game. I just downloaded a new Futa Sim (Ryan Maddison) and placed the folder in my mods folder. But I cannot find her to add her to the game. I want to place her in an existing household that presently has one female Sim. Can someone explain how to do that? Inside the folder, there are additional folders with mods that the author included to have her look the way he created her. Do I have to place all those additional mods somewhere else? Sorry, I'm very confused.

Important rule: Tray files (Sims, lots) don't go into Mods - the go into Tray.

So, whenever you download a Sim (or household or lot) from the web, you need to pay attention to the file extensions. Files of .package (CC clothing etc) or .ts4script (script mods, rarely come with gallery objects) type go into Mods, the other stuff (pretty much "the Sim/household/lot itself") goes into Tray. I was told that there also is an importing tool for Tray files, but I never used it.

Finally, start your game and open your gallery (that "photo" icon in the top right area). The Sim you downloaded should appear in the list of your content and can now be placed into the game world like any other Sim.

To add a Sim to an existing household, you can follow a few routes.

Easy: Move the Sim straight from the gallery onto the lot occupied by the target household. You should be able to join households that way.

Alternative: Move the Sim onto an empty residential lot, then use the household management panel (also found in the top right area) to move Sims between households.

Gameplay: Place the Sim onto an empty lot, have a Sim from the target household build relationship with that Sim and finally ask them to move in with or marry your Sim (requires high friendship and/or romance).

Testingcheats: With testingcheats enabled, shift-click the Sim from the gallery (nneds to be placed onto an empty lot first) and add them to your active household.

You should also have found a Tray folder included with that download.

All those files have strange meaningless names so if there loose they are easier to find.

The all belong in your games TS4/Tray folder and then they are added to your Library (F4).

Be sure to click on the cc box on the left when your in the Library or you won't see that sim.

Double check the Mods that came with it to be sure you don't have some already, duplicates can cause problems.

Some even include old copies of WW, Wild Guys FBD, duplicate penis mod, extra default bodies or default skins, etc.

Hidden mods included with some of these cc sim downloads can really mess up your game.

Ok thanks so much for your reply! Yes, I did see a tray folder in the Ryan Maddison mod's folder. So, I would copy all files from that into The Sims 4 Tray Folder? There are also other folders: Hair, Clothes, Accessories, Allure, Futa Bits, Makeup, Other, Extras etc. So....those folders go in the Mod folder?

Thanks for replying! They all seem to be stuff I don't already have that are there to make the Sim more like what the guy created. I looked through everything and don't see duplicates. So all the subfolders like I replied to Crashdown117 go into the Mod folder just as they are?

Pretty much the same folder structure I use in my Mods anyway.

That way any new cc added later can just be dropped into each specific category.

Any duplicates will just overwrite so you don't end up with multiple copies.

Yup, that's the way to do it.

From my personal experience, I cannot overstate enough how helpful a well organized Mods folder can be. Just remember: Never put files more than one subfolder deep, or else they won't be read by the game.

Ok, I must still be doing something wrong. I copied the Tray files from the Ryan Maddison mod into the Tray Folder in the game. I placed all the additional folders for the mod into the Sims 4 Mods Folder. Still can't see the Sim in the Gallery or under My Folder. I checked the tray and the files for the Sim are definitely there.

UPDATE: Finally got her in there. Not sure what was different, but she finally showed up in "MyFolder".
