RockSockem Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 Hello, I'm trying to find the female body .nif files for Skyrim Special Edition. I've tried googling to see if anyone else has this problem, but I haven't been able to find anything that pertains to my situation. I use Mod Organizer 2 and I'm aware that it installs mods in a separate virtual folder. Because of this, my data folder does not contain Textures/Actors/character/Female/ with the femalebody.nif files. I'm trying to use nifskope in order to change the specular values in order to achieve a glossy/oiled skin effect, but I can't do it because I cannot find the body textures files. It might be worth adding that I have Fair Skin Complexion for CBBE and that I have tried going to my Mod Organizer virtual folder where that mod was downloaded and I have gone to the /mods/Fair Skin Complexion for CBBE/textures/actors/character/female and there are the femalebody_1 files but they are a .dds file not a .nif file so nifskope wont let me open them to change the values. So I'm assuming that this isn't where I should be looking for if I'm trying to find the femalebody.nif textures. Could someone help me out? I think I'm missing something important here. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

As you're using MO2, you'll need to find the mod providing the nif files for your current female bodies and edit these files. But why would you want to add glossiness through nif edits? I'm sure I've seen texture files made for that purpose. Although I must admit I haven't delve into texture/model editing so my POV/knowledge here is limited.
anjenthedog Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 yeah the nifs are the body/item meshes. glossiness would be handled either by directly modding the body texture (.dds) or providing an overlay texture (also .dds) , no?

I just ended up going to my CBBE folder in the mod organizer virtual folder thingy and navigated through meshes/actors/character/character assets and used nifskope to modify the female body textures in there and it worked.

Because the mods of textures that do the "easy" process are really ... ugly, and with a metallic or bronze effect. The best mods that really add an oiled or wet effect are mods that need to modify the mesh values.
judge007 Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 Without starting the virtual File Explorer: Right click on appropriate Mod entry in left hand side of MO2 and click "Open in Explorer" Alternately, double-click on Mod Entry for MO2's Info box
