Nymra Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 Ok, I m at wits end Dont know what I could do wrong anymore. 1. I use DDS files from this mod:https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/36425 2. I use 8K source file and create a 4096x4096 working file. 3. I save as DDS. Photoshop CC 2020 Nvidia DDS Texture Tool Exporter 2020.1.2 4. I chose all kinds of options now. BC1 (DTX 1) RGB 4 bpp / no alpha tried BC 3 options too Tried with and without Mipmaps creation. Result is always the same: I replace existing DDS with it -> ingame purple. The original mod files work, so something has to go wrong with the DDS export?!
Seijin8 Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 Purple usually = missing texture. Generally means a bad file path. EDIT: Another possibility is a bad file size. Make sure in the process of editing that you didn't inadvertently grow/shrink it by a pixel or two.

I really dont know what to do anymore..... femalebody_1.dds

This looks cartoonishly bright and pink to me.
Nymra Posted May 13, 2020 Author Posted May 13, 2020 ????? ADOBE and NIVIDA Crap.... sorry but this makes me angry. Just used a free DDS convertion program and the Texture worked.... Unbelievable Bullshit. And they are such big companies...?!
Nymra Posted May 13, 2020 Author Posted May 13, 2020 This is the outcome right now, I m pretty happy with it for the moment. I just merged LEYENDA and REAL GIRL and refined both to work with each other. Tell me what you think (btw its much better than my first attempt. that one was just an experiment that did not went past "DDS converter from NVIDIA SUX" femalebody_1.dds
RomeoZero Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 Oh Nvidia released new exporter, thanks for info. Sometimes, 4K+ textures fill up RAM,specially if you have it on multiple objects in 1 place. Renderer will return in TextureFill error and your diffuse maps wont be loaded, recommendation for Beth shit engine is to stay on 2k and no more.

It runs all well with the 4K textures now that I converted with a free tool. Seems Photoshop CC 2020 for 1000 dollars/year + Nvicia 2020 for failed producing a simple working DDS export.

Skyrim gamebryo is to old, very unoptimized garbage for streaming 4k pixels and you will get the same issue later probably.

After years of having a rock stable Skyrim, I recently started to get purple textures out of the blue. Updating the body and armor textures and choosing a 2K version fixed that. 4K+ gets me purple again. So sad since I used 8K without problems for years and it just now broke. Just like that... Fucking crap engine...
Nymra Posted May 13, 2020 Author Posted May 13, 2020 Yeah, when it happens I will know. Just this time it had nothing to do with the skyrim engine, all I m saying
Fotogen Posted May 13, 2020 Posted May 13, 2020 Its not a case of crap engine. Skyrim simply doesn't have code to read all posible .dds formats. It does not have to. Why support every possible crazy file format if you don't have to? It would just be a waste of RAM for extra code. To make things simple, i use "no compression" or DXT5 with alpha channel. Don't forget to make mipmaps. Thats it. RGBA and "no" or "5" for compression. Keep it simple. And free Paint.net or GIMP work just fine. Why make it expensive if it can be free.

I was just surprised the Photoshop Plugin failed even when a 10 year old skyirm texture shows the exact same tools (but 10 years older) seemingly working lol Btw: Here is the outcome of my experiments (and headache):
Nymra Posted May 13, 2020 Author Posted May 13, 2020 Just now, Fotogen said: Nice Im a CBBE user Damn seems like there are quite big differences between the textures
