Rollback not working?

My game got hosed up so i reloaded the game and reinstalled but attempts to roll back to 1.5.80 are failing...the steamdb thing shows manifest numbers but attempts to use download_depot on any of them but the last one fail with 'manifest not available'.  Anyone else having this problem?

Guess I get to update everything to 1.5.97.  Or go play something else instead.

It was removed/restricted as part of a Steam client update. You can use Depot Downloader to get a previous version, check the instructions here.

 

Edit: Even with automatic updates disabled I would keep a copy of the executable for extra safe measure.

does anyone know how to actually use that file? what do i do? drag and drop it? im trying to find Skyrim Special Edition: v1.5.62 but Depots do not work; I downloaded the depot downloader but what am I supposed to do with it?

 

I looked on the github site and inside the files but dont see any instruction for installing? running a application? etc?

when you get the  correct version of the games exe you want/need  just copy and replace it in the games main folder. Otherwise y would you want yo use old game version anyways...? Most significant and lot of other stuff was updated and polished for the latest game version and latest skse version...

Thanks Just Don't for the hint. Good thing to have the DepotDownloader ?. It really does the download while the Steam Console doesn't.

I came here to rollback from AE to SE, because it killed my modlist (especially HDT-SMP has no working version for AE at the time of writing).
I would prefer rolling back with the Downgrade Patcher, but it does not work for my old machine.
The SkyrimSE.exe 1.5.97 download command is:
dotnet DepotDownloader.dll -app 489830 -depot 489833 -manifest 2289561010626853674
(you also need to provide -username and -password)
For the dotnet version - I found https://versionsof.net/core/5.0/5.0.0/ to work for me.
