i deleted my project the moment i finished the mod but the most the mod important thing is that your material must be in "DreadOut2\Content\DreadOut2/Characters/Humanoid/Linda/Materials/" and your texture must be in "DreadOut2\Content\DreadOut2\Textures\Character\Linda"

Linda_P.pak 3.51 MB · 0 downloads

That's exactly what I did. I meant in the viewport when u double click the mesh model or material, a window pops up where you can link the texture2dparam to the material etc.
The file pathing is correct for my project it's just the material set up & linking I seem to have troubles with :(

@K0rbel Don't be discouraged, you have to keep at these types of things to really find your way around them. To be fair it wasn't just you, there have been several people in this thread that have gotten the file structure messed up. It is in fact the most common problem modders have had with this game.

If there was an issue with just the application of the textures to the materials, the materials themselves cannot go into the mod. Only the model and textures can stay in the pak or else there will be an error that looks just like the texture is missing. That is of course unless you know specifically how to set up materials in this game. The solution is in making the model and material instances reference the Dark Linda body and head textures instead of Linda's original textures.

Sorry if I am completely missing your method, I'm only theorizing what might have gone wrong based off of my own experience.

Thanks for helping out but before I even attempted, I really checked non stop and read everything as carefully as possible. (Correct UE4 version, No material folder in final mod as well) Everything references properly it's just that even when using normal materials or instances it never shows up properly.

I troubleshooted in over 10 different ways including not linking textures in blender and manually setting up texture2dparam in UE4 and nothing works. (Again I'm 90% certain it's the linking of textures to materials, material instances setup and linking the material to the model that's messed up.)

I've used UE4 many times for showcasing my 3D work on my artstation portfolio so I do have some familiarity with the programme. But unfortunately for modding it's quite different. At this point I'm certain I'll only find the problem if I stream it to someone who's proficient and they'll can spot the mistake I've been making this whole time. :P

I do want to learn since I started off as a 2D artist, learnt 3D 2 years ago and I've been modding different games ever since I was a kid (Simple model, sound and animation swaps)

@K0rbel When I was messing around with this game I never had to mess with texture2dparams. The general method was to just use the material instances to show texture replacements on edited models. The replacements didn't show in UE4 if it was done correctly, only in the game. Pretty much every game I have modded has a fit if any modified materials are used in a replacement mesh. I am aware it's possible I have just never learned the method.

If your mod was broken altogether the modified mesh wouldn't show up in game so I know most of it is correct. I'm just not sure what part of your method is in error.

Shame nobody managed to implement her sleepover deleted outfit

Memory_H attempted and it kept fucking up so unfortunately won't happen :(
So it works for certain levels but not for others. (Since Linda switches between her bloodied uniform & jacket)
You can ping him if you want the abandoned work in progress file. Not sure if he still has it though :/
