How to prevent crashing using this setup?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I want to use SexLab, SexLab Aroused, Dripping when Aroused, Player Succubus Quest, and Follow Me for Sex.  In the past I have used these mods but all the listed mods except for SexLab and Follow Me for Sex cause my game to crash frequently.  What are the recommended settings for SexLab Aroused, Dripping when Aroused, and Player Succubus Quest to prevent crashing?

Do you use any of the plugins that assist for crashes, like https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/72725 or any other things that can help reduce script lag and crashes? My game used to crash all the time because it has a bunch of scripts running constantly.

I don't have all of those mods installed, but I do run Aroused, Dripping when aroused (different from Dripping wet?) and a bunch of other script mods and I don't crash often anymore, maybe once every 5+ hours.

Granted I don't play on Special edition so maybe things are different.

No I have not used that mod.  I am using SSE Fixes though, maybe it's the same thing?   Dripping Wet is the same mod as Dripping when aroused.  I had just forgotten the name. lol

Don't try to use it, it won't work. That's a LE mod. For SE there are way less "stability tools" than in LE, because it already has the advantage of being a 64 bits software. You can add SSE Engine fixes and Animation Loading Fix if you have a lot of animations and expect CTD during loadscreens (FNIS XXL can tell you if you really are near the point of CTD). Other than that:

  • Check with Skyrim Performance Monitor if your CPU/GPU usage is normal during a usual play session. Things to note are spikes of memory usage during play time (not loading screens) and high temperatures, which may lead to general instability.
  • Try to trim your loadorder to avoid unnecessary conflicts and check you have all the required mods/settings for what you want to use. If you intend to use a mod which is known for being unstable the logic thing to do would be
    • just not using it
    • wait for an update that fixes the known issues
    • fix it yourself

No workarounds, no universal solutions. You mention Follow me for sex as the cause of your crashes, weird but ok. That's just one of many mods to add dialogue to trigger sex encounters, you can replace it if you really think the issue is that mod.

No I said SexLab Aroused, Dripping when Aroused, and Player Succubus Quest cause the crashes not Follow Me for Sex.  But thank you for your suggestions.  As for mod settings.  That was what I was hoping to get an answer for, both SexLab Aroused and Dripping when Aroused come with MCM menus and I don't know which options to set to limit crashes.

Oh I totally misread your initial post, sorry. Aroused Redux has never been an issue for me, I usually enable the "clean actors after 10 days" or something like that, I read somewhere that it may help to reduce chances of bloat from aroused npcs old data. I'm not familiar with Dripping when aroused and about PSQ I can't find any up to date information appart from the port from jan 2019 with the nonexistent description. You could have a better chance to get help to setup these mods if you go directly to the support threads for these mods and ask. But I would check and double check that your problems are indeed caused by those mods. It could be that your loadorder isn't optimized for these mods or you're trying to use several mods that are poorly optimized in general. Testing this would require a lot of time playing in a controlled environment (minimal loadorder and so on).

Thank you for the reply.  As to check if the game works before Aroused Redux and Dripping when Aroused.  The game runs fine.  No crashes.  It only crashes when using the two mods I just listed.  But I will do as you say and go to their support pages and ask there.

If your game crashes that often then there is something fundamentally wrong with it. I can run LE for 5 weeks without a CTD and I'm being conservative.

Use these in addition to Crash Fixes (but double-check your settings in Crash Fixes).

SKSE Plugin Preloader
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/75795/?

ENBoost (not needed if already using an ENB)
https://wiki.step-project.com/ENBoost

Bethini

Load Game CTD Fix

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/85443/

Any questions or problems then either open a thread in LE tech support or PM me.

Considering my game used to crash once every 15 minutes awhile back, I'd say once every 5 is still very reasonable. Granted it doesn't always crash during a game session but every now and then something will go wrong. I also use most of those already.

No it is not. This is 2020 not 2012.  Skyrim LE should not be crashing anywhere near that often.

Then double-check your settings and configuration. Which do you not use?

I run with about 360 mods, continually add and remove mods mid-game and generally prod and poke it but as I said, I go weeks without a CTD.
