The database sounds like a great idea since not everyone playing the game will have gone through this thread to find the information.

 

Sometimes I can't tell if it is bull-headed determination that drives me to keep playing or masochism for beating myself up because I like to perfect things and this really gets under my skin.

Yea that bio was good I enjoyed the read thoroughly, and it should definitely be included in game somewhere so the user can read/re-read it at anytime. 

 

Also once the game "Outbreak" reaches a testable ALPHA/BETA phase, I wouldn't mind donating my time and being in the testing/QA phase, that is if you need the bodies. 

 

 

As for Demon Souls, oh hell ya that game is awesome, I suggest you play Dark Souls after you beat Demon Souls since that game is also great.

Yeah at the end of this month, my buddy will be done with school finally. Soo I can get him to work on what I need done, and then I can move forward on the things I've got on hold atm until he's free. Also there will be a tech demo first, no AI or anything like that, just an environment to explore and test out basic game mechanics such as climbing, inventory, weapons, camera styles (fps + third person), the infection system, lust, health, and a number of other things.

 

I'll likely do a small closed release of that for those who want to help test/break things, and then from that point on we will put together a little area to interact with AI mechanics such as stealth, aggro, factions, and AI personalities. I'll talk more about how to volunteer later on as we near that point. Though I won't make it too hard for those interested, just make sure you are ready to test things, as that is the goal of those demos :P

 

Yeah I'll have to rent Dark Souls after I manage to get through Demon's Souls (If I make it that far lol)

Also no update for today as I'm working on the rain effects again, but I will try to have that done for tomorrow :)

I don't think I could ever play Dark Souls/Demon's Souls, just doesn't seem to be my type of game.

 

I'd love to help with the alpha stage of it, so count me in on that. Glad to know you're making great progress on this.

Update May 2nd:

Sexy (Half way done) Rain video for ya to enjoy, the video is a bit short until I get it all complete. Just figured I'd throw an update out as it's been a while since I had something to show. This is the continuation of the rain I had started some time ago, I just wanted to finish it up. It's still too performance hungry to be usable on really large environments, but it should work fine for the Co-op campaign. I'll prob have to do a post process or particle system rain for the big open multi-player levels, but for now I'm just going to enjoy this lol...Oh and remember, before anyone attacks me, this is only like half way done :lol:

Note* Used a new video recorder for this, so let me know if there are any issues with the vid that I'm not noticing. Oh and as always make sure to bump up the video quality to enjoy the eye candy more.

It looks great! Question, will it be interactive with the environment? As in, if you walk under a roof, no rain is falling through it?

Yes that is my goal, seeing rain coming though the roof would be pretty lame in my opinion lol.

 

With those teasers i can't wait :)

Your demos are looking great so far.  My only concern is what your focus is.  A lot of indie projects fail because the creator(s) get caught up in little details and fail to focus on the core of what they are trying to ultimately accomplish.  I want to see your project succeed.  The core features you want to do will probably be more than enough work.  I've used UDK, too.  They have a lot of candy packed in that pinata.  It can be easy to get distracted.   ^_^

Ironic, that you would suggest this right after a post regarding the concern over a Dev spending time with tiny details instead of working in the core of his own project. No offense but 'drops running down the screen' is one of those things that ought to be added as a polish, way after game release, at least as far I'm concerned.

Yeah I tend to work on what interests me the most at a given moment, so I would imagine what I'm doing looks pretty random lol. The main issue is that I have a number of things on hold until my coder finishes up with college this month. Soo that leaves me to just kinda start bouncing around on whatever I feel like rather than what I need done.

 

So to summarize there are priorities and such, just can't get them completed atm until my buddy is free so I'm left doing little things until that time. Though also in my defense, the Korhal city level will be dealing with some heavy rain most of the time so I will need to get this done eventually anyway.

 

Looks good, maybe add rain drop effects to the actual players HUD every now and then to simulate rain hitting the players face. 

Yeah that shouldn't be too hard, will look into that when I'm done with the core of the rain effects and such.

It's cool, as I mentioned earlier in this post, I'm just doing little things atm anyway for the most part. Modeling is really the big priority that I can do solo, but I like messing with the material editor in udk so I tend to gravitate towards stuff involving that. After I'm done with the rain, I'll get back on the modeling tho, I promise lol...

Hey guys no update today, as I'm going to be spending a large amount of time at the hospital today. My dad has been feeling sick the last few days and now he's in the hospital. They're running some tests to see what's wrong, and I'm hoping it's nothing too serious, but sh!t like this always worries me...

Hey guys thanks for the support, they just let him out today and gave him some medicine to help him in the meantime. He just needs to watch his drinking, and he'll be fine (he used to have a bit of a drinking problem). Soo I'm pretty damn relieved to hear that, downside is that I slept like sh!t yesterday because of all the worrying I was doing, so now I'm feeling way too tired to do anything productive today :-/

 

So to sum it up, my dad is going to be fine, I'm really worn out, and the bio will be out tomorrow rather than today as a result of this. Hope that's cool with you guys, and I'll be back to work once I get some rest lol.

Clothing: Usually dresses in her standard lab coat at work, but often wears top of the line designer dresses and accessories in her spare time.

 

Family: Dr. Isis, Isis Twins, Robert Isis

Pets: None

 

Personal Bio: First born daughter of Vanessa and Robert Isis.

 

She was sent to private schools at a very young age. There she learned from some of the best teachers available. Her teachers soon noticed that the rate to which she was covering new material was far beyond their normal students.

 

As her knowledge grew, so did her ego. Each award, each perfect score saw her advancing quickly through grades/academic levels. She was a literal genius , but with all the work she was so focused on, she missed out on more normal things like making friends and such. This made socializing fairly difficult for her, with her disregard for those not at her level and her generally rude attitude. She wanted respect for her superior mind, and would suffer nothing less than admiration.

 

Once out of college, she returned to work with her mother at Global Horizons. She had arrived shortly after the recent attack that claimed her father's life. Unsurprisingly, she was unphased by his passing and quickly began to find herself frequently arguing with her mother about her role at Global Horizons. She wanted to succeed her mother once she retired, but Dr. Isis refused her each time believing she wasn't ready for such a position.

 

This arguing was only the beginning of the downhill spiral for their relationship however. As her mother brought on the Mercenary Alex Conway to guard her two younger sisters. Sara adamantly opposed him being there, despite her mother's high opinion of him. As time went on that hate for Conway was soon passed onto her mother as well, and it was appearing that her sisters might be a target too as her mother had come to focus so much on the twins and not her.

 

Luckily, this contempt for her sisters seemed to transform more into a rivalry rather than hate however. She viewed her sisters as having been among the few people that could be thought of as equals. This didn't stop the numerous pranks and such that she employed to "test" her sisters, but it was never anything too serious and not really a cause for any concern.

 

Skills: She is a literal genius, and incredibly gifted in both the medical and mechanical sciences.

Update May 10th:

Been trying to figure out some issues that I've been having with dx11 in the udk. Downloading the latest beta build now, so hopefully that clears up the strange errors I've been getting. If that doesn't fix it, the only other option I was suggested was to buy a new graphics card (which I would really prefer not to have spend 200+dollars on a new one lol).

lol at the scooby doo joke there. Yeah it's taking a bit of time to get it sorted out. Not quite sure what causes the errors yet. Probably just end up looking around for a new graphics card though.

 

Moving on, no work on this today, since my brother, sister, and I are treating my mom to a really nice mothers day gift. Soo if you haven't already done so, go do something nice for your mum, I mean it's not like she gave you life or something... :P

Hey guys turns out the issues were prob with my hard drive being a pos and dying yesterday night on me (No warning whatsoever). Had to go out today and buy a new one, and luckily I had backups of some stuff, but not all of it.

 

Now I have to go back and redo a few parts, which is lame, but I guess I get to go back and possibly improve on the originals and I now have a backup everything policy lol (I'll be better prepared in case this bs happens again). So there, now this whole thing can be viewed in a positive light :D

Yay for backups. Yeah, this isn't the first time I have seen a project delayed due to computer problems. Luckily they usually have a backup or previous version to work from.

Yeah, just having some bad luck lately lol. But hopefully I'm just getting it all out of the way now so it'll be smooth sailing later on. Oh btw going to be spending the next few days redoing the day/night cycle, which is fine as I wanted to change it anyway to support a randomized storm clouds and such via kismet/matinee. Hopefully it will look/play out better than the old one :)

 

Once I'm done with that I'll be finishing up the player model though as I want to get back to working out the rigging and the morph targets for the facial customization. Should be neat to finally see that through :)

Hey sorry about forgetting to do the bio yesterday! I have managed to mess that up for what? Like the third week in a row? lol..sry...But yeah my buddy offered me 20$ for 30mins of my time to make a sims 3 mod for him and I just kinda forgot to do the bio after I got it all working :/

 

So I'll be posting the bio later today, and I think I'll upload that mod I mentioned to this site in a separate thread. It's nothing too special, but it's still somewhat adult oriented and as a bonus it's virus themed lol.
