Orc Half-Breeds in Skyrim

Are there no Orc half-breeds in Skyrim? Someone stated that there aren't. Is it because of lore or some shit? I mean you have Bretons- which is supposed to be a cross between elves and men. Why not anything else?

Yes, it is lore.  All children born are the race of their mother.

The lore of Elder Scrolls is what makes it different than generic copypasta fantasy.

Bretons are the result of thousands of years of interbreeding, and they still aren't elves.

Uuummm........Genetics? Hello! You know, when your cute, big-tits Imperial decides she wants to be gang-banged by Orc hunters or something.:classic_biggrin:

Lore is just background story anyway. It doesn't mean you have to agree with it or play your game that way. My Orc/Nord mage-warrior for instance;

There are no Orc half-breeds in TES V: Skyrim, that's true. But whoever said that Orc half-breeds doesn't exist in TES, like at all, is either ignorant of previous games or lying. Agronak gro-Malog, the Gray Prince, in TES IV: Oblivion is the result of an Orc mother and an Imperial (vampire) father.

I find Elder Scrolls to be interesting because things like genetics don't exist there.  Many of the assumptions you might have about how their world works would be flat out wrong.  Nirn isn't Earth.  Not even close.

Elder Scrolls has some of the best developed and most interesting lore of any fantasy world (let alone game) ever made.

If you want to ignore the things that make it unique, go right ahead.

And was an orc.

Mixed parentage isn't uncommon.  It doesn't produce half-breeds.

Half-breed is the result of mixed parentage. It's even the term for it, though nowadays it's considered insensitive like most other things.

The child will always result in the race of the mother, according to TES lore rules, though sometimes they have clearly defied their own logic, as proven with Belharza, who was the son of Alessia and Morihaus, a Nede woman and a Minotaur and the result was that of a minotaur if we are to take Michael Kirkbride's written stuff as proof.

Not sure why you are trying to argue both for...

...and against this point.

We aren't arguing over the definition of a word.  The argument is whether mixed-race types exist in elder scrolls.  Barring extreme and rare exceptions, they don't.

Sure there may be exceptions when going way outside man/mer relations, but it doesn't change the basic rule here.

And they are the only ones? Was this "interbreeding" some kind of unique experiment or what? How much interracial "breeding" do you think goes on in Nirn, anyway? I'd say a fucking whole lot!

Even from the perspective of lore, the father not passing on something like his genes to the child would make the whole concept of heritage completely meaningless for men.

i mean if we are going the route of pointing out the few outliers of half-breeds (which doesn't really prove anything unless there is a whole mess of them to account for the vast amounts of interspecies breeding going on in Nirn) there is always Karliah the Nightingale, who clearly is a half breed Dunmer. Barenziah cursed the Chimer to become the Dunmer, which included changing their eyes to that of a blood red. Karliah has "human" eyes in base game, which shows mixed heritage. Likely another elf race since her eyes are lavender/purple

Half-breeds are one of the more glaring logic holes in TES lore. Bretons are technically half-breeds but it took hundreds of years of interbreeding for them to appear. I default to the idea that it takes several generations of mixed spawn breeding together for true hybrids to appear. Otherwise the child is the same race as the mother but with some cosmetic resemblances to the father.

that's more likely just bethesda wanting to make her look unique and either forgetting about lore or not caring about it. it's not the first time they've made a mistake like that. with as big as tes world is, and with how many people work on it, mistakes are bound to happen
