Weird Idle Issue

I swear, I can never install Oblivion without weird stuff happening. Recently, I picked it up again and got it working smoothly, but this one has me stumped. It happens to most NPC's I talk and come across to, they do this weird pose thing that makes them look silly and stupid more than anything, I don't even know where it came from.

 

I do use animation replacers but the only ones I used to replace the default ones or I think, might be causing the issue are DMC Stylish, Combat Stance Reanimation, and maybe Deadly Reflex 5? I use customized Blockhead animations if it helps, but I double checked and none of the ones I use replace the Idles of the NPC's.

 

All I really want it for them to return back to their normal idles without having to re-install the game again. I use BOSS to sort my load order every time, rebuild my Bashed Patch every change in the load order and all, and if it helps-I followed Bevilex's Guide to Oblivion Graphics again. This is the first time I've ever encountered the issue.

Hmm, the only thing related to zombies in my load order are Mythic Creatures, and Full Vanilla Creature Replacer with Dicks, and those are mesh and retextures iirc? I'm not sure if they would affect the animations of all the NPC's. I've used them before and they didn't cause this to happen. Monster Girl Blockhead Edition has female zombies, but like those two mods, I used it before this particular install and it worked fine, as in without this bug happening.

 

Replacing the Idle.kf didn't seem to have any effect, so it got me thinking that it may not be an animation replacer causing this, but maybe more of a mod that I installed that's somehow causing this.

 

The only new mods I remember trying and adding this time around are:

• Zensalin's Oblivion Overhaul
• Roads of Cyrodiil
• Deadly Reflex 5 Ryona Add-On
• And the 2.5 version of LoversCreatures

Lots of mods are dirty.  They are bundled with shit that you don't need and often don't want.  Try posting you whole load order and someone may be able to spot the culprit.

But you say your game was OK with Monster Girl Blockhead Edition .

What have you done to find the bug?

Have you uninstall all the new  Mods to the point when the game was still working? If the idle bug is fixed you install the Mods one by one to find the "bad" Mod.

Have you uninstall all the new  Mods to the point when the game was still working? If the idle bug is fixed you install the Mods one by one to find the "bad" Mod.

 

So, I uninstalled all those mods that I added for this new install and started up a new game, but the problem still persists...Making me doubt if it really was a mod, and makes me wonder again if it's a .kf file somewhere causing this weird pose.  

 

I'll see what I can do about posting more of my load order. Right now I'm just debating whether or not I should do a fresh re-install of the game.

When you're stumped like this all you need to do is bisection search. Disable half your mods, then half of that half, then another half... until you spot your culprit. Personally I'd examine my bashed patch first and then all other mods if they're messing with npc records. Cause if idle anim replacer is not doing that, there's only one other place that can do this. Individual NPC records. But I'm too lazy to explain in more details, just do a bisection.

Disable your new Mods and test. Also the wrong kf files must be part of one of your new Mods.

 

If you still have the bug:  ( But normally the bug must be fixed if you really delete all new files, all files you have add since the game worked without bug )

 

You have delete the walkforward and idle kf file in your _male folder? So the game will use the vanilla kf files. But you still have the bug ?

 

If the kf file is add by Blockhead it is in charcters\_male\specialanims  folder.

Monster Girl Blockhead Edition add kf files with blockhead.

First create a save near a NPC with the bug and NOT near a Monster Girl  NPC/Creature. Then Backup the specialanims folder.

Delete all files in the game specialanims folder.

Load the save and see if you still have the bug.

If yes,  it is not a kf added by blockhead and you can restore your specialanims folder.

If the bug is gone  you restore your specialanims folder step by step, copy 20 or half of the kf from you backup folder in the game folder and test.

And if you have the bug again you delete some of the last restored files.

. . .  until you find the kf. Replace it with a kf you like.

And again, if you still have the bug after you delete all new installed Mods you have not delete all new files !!!!

So, I decided to re-install the game again-keeping all of the files I downloaded and installed them via Wrye Bash again. Installing even the mods that I thought might be causing the bug, and voila-no more wonky idle this time around. So, I think it may just be an idle I added back then.
