Only issue I have with this mod is that lots of things interrupt searches causing guards to become hostile. An npc starts a conversation, or a sex mod triggers, whatever. I'm using the no teleport version. Any workarounds?

Is there any way to prevent the body search quest from triggering when horse riding? I use the "normal" teleport version and when the body search triggers while on horseback, I end up in a black void sitting on a invisible horse...

 

Maybe adding some condition in the ESP?

Open Body Search in SSEdit. Find and click on the forcegreet, "Wait. You wanderer need to take a body search."

In the right panel scroll down to Conditions, right-click and select add. You want to set player is riding mount = 0.

I did it on my last pt and it seemed to work. Guards would approach but switch to another topic if I was riding.

Awesome, thank you so much! It's working. I added the Dawnstar.esm as Master and added the condition as you suggested. When on horseback, the guard still force greeted me, but with vanilla dialog options. On foot, the BodySearch dialog options appeared as they should 🙂

Do items added by Live Another Life or the items added by mods that give you info, like books or letters with important instructions and such, count as stolen? I started a new game, spawned in solitude through LAL, even made sure lockpicks were turned off and double checked nothing was stolen, yet when I go outside and instantly get searched, I incur a 39 gold bounty? Could it be from Slaverun Reloaded or another Sexlab mod making things illegal? Just curious as it is mildly annoying and want to see if there are any MCM options I can modify for it

If I start a new game it doesn't happen on my end (using realm of lorkhan), tho when you get sent to jail the game gives you 1 lockpick. And there's stolen gold, that'll give you a bounty but easily missable because yes. 

If an item is marked as stolen then you get bounty when the guard searches your bag.

Except for one book that's been marked stolen over a couple of games, I can't say that it happens with mod-added books/letters as a rule. However, I have noticed that a small percentage of things get marked as stolen in my inventory that I swear weren't marked as stolen before. It might be some of my iron arrows, iron daggers are a likely target. I don't steal and I have my auto loot mod set to law-abiding. I haven't figured out what's causing it so I set my body search chances to weigh more heavily on the guards just having fun.

It seems that this mod has up to 6 animation stages, but 2 of them end.

Is there a condition for it to play?

 

Is it a problem with SLSO in it? Just a probability?

Did you download the animation pack from the mod page?

If you are on SE, you will probably need to convert them. You can find Cathedral Assets Optimizer on Nexus. It's a good tool for a variety of things.

The guards can do:

  • just a search
  • a pat down and potential real search
  • a pat down, a strip search, and potential real search
  • a pat down, strip search, a hidden pocket search, and potential real search

Each approach is random. Look at your settings in the MCM, especially chance of an earnest search (where they're not just using the search as grab ass excuse).

If you think the animations are legitimately stopping early or being interrupted by something, post your papyrus log. Preferably as an attachment but at the very least behind a spoiler. Somebody might see something that can help you further. Would also be a good idea to post your load order behind a spoiler - I don't know anything about SLSO but that doesn't mean another mod might be causing trouble.

Just adding a little more details to what Seeker999 said, this mod looks for the animation named "RohZima Guard Search", so you must have it installed.  The link to the animation is on the mod page (use the right version for your game, LE or SE).

why im always getting black screen when the guard do the search.

i already instal the animation and active it in slal but im still getting the black screen, anyone know how to solve it?

It triggers every 24 hours for me no matter what I set the timer too? nice mod but its getting intrusive so I have to turn it off for a bit. Maybe let us set a *higher* minimum on the cooldown than 1 day, becasue in two playthroughs I've used this mod its just defaults to the minimum 1 day. Once a week is enough for some of us, they are lengthy animations to watch EVERY time you go into a city.

Try changing your forcegreet chance, if you haven't already. Mine is 16%, my min/max time range is 0.5 - 5 days. I don't get approached every time I go to town. You can also adjust your speech success chances to persuade the guards to go away.

Is there any way to edit this mod to trigger only when you pay off your bounty, instead of regular intervals? 

 

Like, when you select "I'd like to pay off my bounty" when a guard catches you, instead of just taking your stolen items and letting you walk away, this mod triggers and guard asks to do a body check up before letting you go.

How do I get the animations to work? 

I have sex lab, not sex lab p +

I have the correct version of the animation installed.

Whenever the guard takes me for a search, they animate as if they are picking up something off the floor. It fades to black, they never find anything, I'm free to go. No animation plays whatsoever.

I have tweaked all of the sliders on the MCM, Still no luck.

I have registered the animations through SLAL. They are present in my game.

 

This is all I ever get, it is infuriating. I have done everything correctly.

 

EDIT: downgraded to a previous version of this mod, working fine.

I am hoping against all odds that somebody can help me and I won't have to replay the last 50 hours of the game. 

The issue is this:  The force-greet starts, but the dialog does not. I have the option to converse with the guards as if I went up to them, but they don't initiate the body search dialog and I don't have any dialog relating to body search. If I disable the mod, the guards don't initiate a force-greet. I can exit the convo and go about my business until the next time a guard force-greets me. It's annoying but not game-breaking. I am concerned that whatever is causing Body Search to no longer work might be game-breaking later in a situation I haven't encountered yet.

I'm on SSE v. 1.6.1170

It is NOT a mod conflict or load order issue. I can go to an earlier save 60+ game hours ago and the mod works fine.

I have tried STOPQUEST, RESETQUEST, STARTQUEST to no avail.

I looked at the .esp in XEdit. No conflicts.

Disabling the mod stops the force-greets. Re-enabling the mod starts the force-greets but still without the dialog.

I have unstalled the mod, saved, cleaned the save, made a new save, then reloaded the mod again. Still does not work on recent saves, but does still work on older saves.

I went through my notes and don't see any relevant CTD's. None occurred in the time or locations between where the mod was working and where it wasn't.

Unfortunately, I've been on Solstheim where there are few opportunities for the body search to happen, and so didn't realize it was a problem til I went back to Skyrim. I've narrowed down where I would have to start replaying the game if I have to, outside the entrance to Benkongerike.

I've used this mod for years and can't recall this happening before.

I've seen this before.  Another mod is conflicting, so you won't be able to solve the problem by manipulating this mod (other than disabling this mod)*.  Here's what you're probably seeing:

 

Another mod, possibly one of the various approach mods by Babo or others, has initiated a high-priority force greeting that failed to complete.  When Body Search starts its own force greeting for a guard to search you, if its blocking topic has a lower priority that the other mod's blocking topic, you won't see Body Search's topic.  Since the other mod's topic's conditions are no longer met, you won't see that mod's blocking topic either, so it's difficult to identify which mod got stuck and is interfering with Body Search.

 

Body Search would have worked correctly for you until the point when the other mod's greeting got stuck, which explains why going back to an old save works.  You might look over your mods and think about which one hasn't been very active lately with its own greetings; that one is the likely culprit.  For me, it's usually SL Approach that needs to be reset, but it could well be something else for you.

 

 

* EDIT:  Actually, if you're desperate, you can cover over the problem, but doing so will NOT resolve the underlying conflict (which would be the better solution).  Body Search's force greeting topic _BS_ForcegreetTopic only has a priority of 50.  That's the standard priority for a normal topic; it's unusually low for a blocking topic.  You could edit Body Search to increase the topic's priority to the max (255) to ensure that it wins over anything else that doesn't also have max priority (this is similar to moving a mod to the bottom of the load order).  I'm not sure who wins if both mods are using the maximum priority.  Again, this is not the best solution, because it does not free the other mod from being stuck, so that mod's blocking topic could still interfere with any other mods that try to do a force greeting.

Thanks @Hex Bolt, that gives me something to look for. At least, considering where I was in game, there shouldn't be too many options.

 

10/15/25 update:  AHA!

Didn't find anything with other mods.

Was gonna cut my losses and start replaying from when BS worked all those game hours ago. I saved, tested in RR, reloaded and continued on. 

Rinse and repeat. Thought I might be able to pinpoint what was happening, even though I thought my more recent saves were goners.

It wasn't a mod.

Miraak did it. 

That's right, Miraak. He showed up to steal the dragon soul at Saering's Watch, per normal, heard him speak, but he didn't poof away. He just hung around. Tried a few things and what ultimately worked was using 'StopQuest DLC2SoulSteal'. Loaded my most current save after the leaving Solstheim, and used 'StopQuest DLC2SoulSteal' again. It worked! Did not need to replay those 50 hours!

Don't know why Miraak didn't mess with the courier, but I am able to move forward.
