theuglyamerican Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 I got Vortex to run Skyrim SE just fine, with the exception that it won't run like half the mods it tells me I have installed, so...screw you, SE. Jerk. I wanted to run LE anyway because of the mods I like, so I decided to give that a shot, I have the latest versions of the game and Vortex installed on a non-C drive (the same drive where it runs SE copacetic) and Vortex tells me I have SKSE scripts installed -- I mean, the little button is green and everything! -- but when I go to the Dashboard and click to run SKSE, it gives me the error "Couldn't find TESV.exe." And it's totally in the folder, very close to the SKSE launcher. I can click on it and it runs the game. But Vortex can't see it, so screw you, Vortex. Jerk. This has probably been answered before. I even watched 40 minutes of videos that sounded likely to answer the question but didn't even address it. I thought maybe you lovely folks could give me a tip or three. I'd appreciate it.

The SKSE button directs to skse_loader.exe and the Skyrim button (two spots above the one you highlight) points to the TESV.exe file that the SKSE button claims is nowhere to be found. Furthermore, when I run the program from the Skyrim button, it starts normally!

The file skse_loader.exe must be in the main game folder, the same that have TESV.exe but probably you have installed it in the DATA folder and, of course, can not find the main TESV.exe executable. Download the installer version of SKSE and install it manually. Simply download and execute the installer. Never use the manager for install SKSE.

fred200 Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 Well I appreciate your not going on a rant and ragging on Vortex. Looking for answers and asking for help is always better than starting off blaming the tool. That can come later. Most things have a simple answer; Vortex has a pretty decent support forum too.
