Grey Cloud Posted May 6, 2019 Posted May 6, 2019 If you haven't already, install these: Crash fixes https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/72725/ SKSE Plugin Preloader https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/75795/? ENBoost (if your are not using an ENB preset) https://wiki.step-project.com/ENBoost
Steelsponge Posted May 6, 2019 Author Posted May 6, 2019 @Grey Cloud thanks. I have installed the two fixes and whilst they seemingly have fixed some of my infinite loading screens, they seem to have made my new game spazz out. I start a new game but the cart spazzes all over the place now.
Steelsponge Posted May 7, 2019 Author Posted May 7, 2019 Update: Now i am getting CTD in riverwood, whiterun, etc. cannot seem to go anywhere in skyrim without it CTD'ing after updating a couple of mods.

Does LOOT show any errors? Does FNIS give any warnings? Have a look at this to see if you have miissed something. https://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.10.0

Have a look at this to see if you have miissed something. https://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.10.0 No, no NMM / Fnis/Loot/cbbe etc errors.. i did fix the entries in orange text a while ago (they disabled two base ESM's for some reason) i THINK i may have solved it? i looked back into the Skse crash fixes, and it turns out i may have missed a small change, that i changed and it couldve fixed my skyrim, i will be besting it again in a bit (i tested it for a few hrs earlier thinking Estus chaurus was the issue and im hoping its not because currently its disabled and there was no CTD's a bit of lag yes, but thats because im playing with the same setup on my HP-Omen laptop that doesnt have the extra 8gb ram and 4gb video-card either.)
Steelsponge Posted May 8, 2019 Author Posted May 8, 2019 okay, ive narrowed all my crashing down to an issue with Estus Charus 4.36/4.3.67 im getting a crash notification from Crashfixes now. but with how it crashes im unable to see what it says, it is something about alot of animations installed?
Grey Cloud Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 What makes you think it is EC? Post your FNIS output here. It's a simple copy and paste job.
Steelsponge Posted May 8, 2019 Author Posted May 8, 2019 for the simple reason, i re-enabled EC and it would CTD untill i disabled EC. and it would spit out an error along the lines with "too many animations" or something, i will try to get a screenshot of what happens when i enable EC and launch skyrim this is my FNIS Output: FNIS Behavior V7.4.5 2019-05-08 1:23:19 PM Skyrim 32bit: 1.9.32.0 - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\ (Steam) Skeleton(hkx) female: XPMS2HDT (115 bones) male: XPMS2HDT (115 bones) Patch: "SKELETON Arm Fix" Installing FNIS PCEA2 Reading CP_Elsie V6.1 ... Grey Cloud Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Which EC is it? The original from Nexus? What version?
Steelsponge Posted May 9, 2019 Author Posted May 9, 2019 7 hours ago, Grey Cloud said: Which EC is it? The original from Nexus? What version? as stated above, ver 4.36/4.37 make it CTD on a save file at random points, and makes it so i need to start a fresh save to make it work properly. which ive had the mod before so i dont understand why it does that. but now im home on my big PC. that was issues on my laptop. Gonna do these fixes/workarounds on my pc like at the begining of the thread.
SleepyJim Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 As a general bit of advice, have you cleaned the official master files with TES5Edit? All of them except for Skyrim.esm should really be cleaned, and there are videos on youtube showing how to do it safely. The official masters are packed with bugs and errors that don't matter if you're not using mods, but can cause problems if you are. A friend of mine was having apparently random crashes until she cleaned the masters, and then they stopped. About the Riverwood/Whiterun area specifically, that's very intensive on vram. I used to get a lot of crashes around there until I reduced the number of high resolution textures I was using, and installed the Optimized Vanilla Textures mod from Nexus. Now, it never happens to me. It will depend on your PC if that's part of the problem and how much, but it's worth bearing in mind. Too many animations would normally cause a crash when trying to launch the game, as far as I understand it. I don't remember hearing about it causing random crashes when actually playing. Obviously, removing some animations would be the way to go about trying to fix that issue, if there are any you can live without. The upper limit for how many your game can handle seems to vary from player to player, for alternate/override animations as well as basic ones, and FNIS apparently doesn't give a warning if you exceed it.

A friend of mine was having apparently random crashes until she cleaned the masters, and then they stopped. Clean the masters is totally unnecesary today. Clean the masters was an obligatory operation years ago because, in the years 2012 and 2013, Beth delete records in the masters and any mod reffering deleted records cause CTD. Today, i not know any mod whit that problem. Today, is totally unnecesary clean the masters, i not make it from 2015 and i have 237 plugings now. The random crash never can be related to the deleted records. 44 minutes ago, SleepyJim said: About the Riverwood/Whiterun area specifically, that's very intensive on vram. Add HD Texture mods of 4k or 8k never can cause CTD if your game is correctly configured. Only can cause slow framerate, stutering, lag, increase time in loading screens.... The game not make CTD for use HD Texture mods. The game make CTD because is bad configured. Not have any relation to the computer power or the video card. Read this post and see how i play my game with 2k and 4k textures with my integrated video card. 44 minutes ago, SleepyJim said: Too many animations would normally cause a crash when trying to launch the game, as far as I understand it. That paragraph is correct.
SleepyJim Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 You may be right. Fair enough on cleaning the master files. Perhaps it's no longer considered necessary, but I would argue that at the very least it doesn't do any harm if done correctly. If someone is still using an old mod, or prefers an older version of a mod for whatever reason, it might still be a benefit. Unlikely, perhaps, but as I said, it shouldn't do any harm. As for the CTDs happening only to people who have their game poorly configured, well, I don't claim to be an expert on modding, and I'm certainly not infallible. I did research the issue I was having quite exhaustively though, and have always been careful with installing mods and taking all the necessary steps to ensure the most stable game possible. Having read the post and topic you linked there isn't anything there I don't already have set up. I even found reports of some people crashing around Whiterun while playing completely vanilla games on the Xbox 360 and PS3. Removing some high-end textures and optimizing the vanilla textures was what fixed it for me, despite having all the recommended crash fixes, bug fixes, ini and memory tweaks set up. I'm not infallible, like I said, but everything's smooth and stable for me since I made that one change. It's not going to be the answer for everyone, but it has been for me and quite a few others.
GenioMaestro Posted May 9, 2019 Posted May 9, 2019 3 hours ago, SleepyJim said: You may be right. Clean the masters only save some miliseconds and the game works in the same way. The existing mods from 2013 are good and all the mods whit that problem has been corrected. Recommending to "clean the master" only instills fear and makes the problems of 2013 remain for all the eternity. And yes, you are rigth. Some textures in the original game must be corrected. I made it years ago with Ordenador and i continue having in my load order the original HD files that a lot of players say must be removed and replaced with the new texture packs that have the correction made. Every player must correct that bad textures. Can use Ordenador or DDSopt or can download any texture pack with the correction made. The way is indiferent but is a step that must be made for solve some CTD. The other solution, as you and a lot of people say, is remove textures, remove mods, not force the game, not use some mods, configure the mods in a special way, look with a lot of detail what mods install, what have that mods, what made and what have in the log, how can affect the game or what problems can cause in others mods. That is the extended "ideology of the comunity" and say that the Skyrim is weak, make CTD every day, is totally unstable, not support some combinations of mods and the destiny is end in a irremediable fail because the savegame always go corrupt in any moment. All that is totally false. Like the 90% of the absurd comunity rules: Must clean the masters, not move the load order, must start a new game every time you change the load order, the game break after a month of play, spam in the log break the game, the Stack Dumps are irecoverables... I know that nobody go to change their mind, but i must say how really works the game.
Steelsponge Posted May 10, 2019 Author Posted May 10, 2019 To all whom have Commented, i would like to say i have resolved my CTD's and freezing with the tweaks you have given me, im thankful for All the above's postings. its taught me a lot. One Problem persists though, The Spazzy Start sequence on a new game. any idea on the causes of this?

SleepyJim Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 I also haven't been through the vanilla game opening in a long time. I use either Skyrim Unbound or Alternate Start: Live Another Life to get into the game more quickly. The last I heard about the cart ride is that it can be very buggy with mods installed, and there used to be a recommendation not to install anything too complex until you've made it out of Helgen. I don't know if that's changed in the last few years. GenioMaestro, you're offering excellent advice, and I'm glad we're in agreement that it doesn't do any harm to clean the master files. The last thing I would add is that everything you've recommended had already been set up in my game for some time, and it didn't prevent the crashes I used to have around Whiterun. It's still good advice, and very much worth following, but it's not a guarantee of stability for everyone. Thanks.
wildtangent Posted May 10, 2019 Posted May 10, 2019 Devious Devices can cause that spazy start. I suggest using a mod such as Live Another Life.
