Darklocq Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 I've been trying to get rid of this "glow in the dark" effect on the jewelry (necklace, earrings, and female turban decoration) in the Graviczapa Desert Dancer set, to no avail. I've screwed around with everything in BSLightingShaderProperty, and none of it works so far. I even tried converting it to Default under Skyrim Shader Type (instead of Environment Mapping) and removed the env. map texture file and all reference to env. mapping in the flags. Tried various other flags (looking at other jewelry items in other gear that don't have this problem). Nothing seems to have any effect at all, other than sharply dropping the Specular Strength very slightly reduced the effect. One odd thing about this gear is that it's not using a proper texture file, but a 1x1 pixel color, and I wonder if that has something to do with it. I've never had this much trouble getting rid of this awful cartoonish appearance on any other items. Usually it's just a matter of lowering Specular Strength and/or Emissive Multiple. This one, I've spent three hours trying to fix it and am just stumped.
yatol Posted April 28, 2019 Posted April 28, 2019 mesh visible in the dark? maybe flag omissive light just compare the mesh to iron armor, and it's one of the differences

I did check that, but it's not that kind of radiant glow anyway; this is all mesh shader effect stuff, same as excessive shine on eyes in many follower mods.

I've already compared this item to various vanilla jewelry pieces. None of the adjustments I make to it seem to matter.
C5Kev Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Hey darklocq. Looks like this might be caused by the jewelry's texture specular map - part of the normal map? You said the texture was weird, so perhaps try to create new normal map. Or send me the mesh and texture files and I'll see if I can create new stuff for you.
Darklocq Posted May 1, 2019 Author Posted May 1, 2019 Will do. If I recall correctly, this only had a color/diffuse map (1x1 px), a similarly dummy normal map (also 1x1), no specular map, and a routine-looking environment map (some dark sky or something). I'll fire up that box and zip up the files here in a bit.
Darklocq Posted May 1, 2019 Author Posted May 1, 2019 I messed around with these files so many times, there's no telling what shape they're in now. Better to use the original: * Graviczapa Desert Dancer UNP 1.1 * UUNP BodySlides for it PS: The problem strongly affects the necklace/amulet, the earrings, and the jeweled part of the female turban; to a lesser extent, also the bracelet. The rest of the items are fine.
Darklocq Posted May 8, 2019 Author Posted May 8, 2019 I've got it worked out. It was a bunch of stuff at once. I had to reduce Specular Strength, reduce the Environment Map Scale, darken one texture markedly, completely replace one diffuse and normal map pair, and make other adjustments (e.g. turn up Glossiness to compensate on some items, and also tweak the specularity of the gems in the items separately from the metal parts). Thanks to C5Kev for investigation and suggestions.
Darklocq Posted May 9, 2019 Author Posted May 9, 2019 Finished patch completed after a lot of trial and error: Includes some skimpiness options, a UUNP bracelet fit patch, more translucent veil, and the "nuclear glowing jewelry" patch. I originally put this up at Nexus, but the admins there seem hostile to patches of mods the originals of which are not Nexus mods. They claimed there was a copyright problem because I didn't indicate written permission from Graviczapa. However, if you spend 30 seconds or so at Graviczapa's page, you see that her mod is distribution-restricted only as a complete outfit package; her "Permissions" page is very, very clear that asset patches are not restricted, as the entire page is a screed against over-restrictiveness, since most of what Grav does is patching previously released mods. [sigh] So, I'm hosting this directly at LL now.
