Guest Nico28469 Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 Hi people, I just spent more than a hour looking trough the pictures from New Vegas Nexus. I found that nearly all the characters I've seen were generics. I mean they all look the same, just as if they all were presets... And that's even worse when people are using Mojave Delight, as each race of the mod comes in two version, one "realistic" and another, people use the presets thinking their char' are "beautiful" like this. I also found that the NV community is much more inactive than Skyrim's one. Some of the featured mod on Nexus only have 10 endorsements!! (I don't speak about the LoversLab community, wich is still very active) Is there a way to make some natural, good-looking character? Something I always wanted to recreate was Deathknowz's character: Pic 1 Pic 2 Pic 3 However, he never wanted to release it.. So what tool should I use to do something "nearly" as perfect as that? Can the GECK really achieve something like this? The question is deliberately vague, I just want to read people's advice's.
BruceWayne Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 You may want to try this one: http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/39218
Kashked Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 I think what he is asking for is how to make his PC, rather than the NPCs more beutiful... Unfortunatly I don't have much to tell you. Mojave Delight is the best I've found when it comes to making the PC look good, and I've looked. As far as mucking about in the GECK it would probably work, but I have no advice for you there.
BruceWayne Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 My bad, I thought OP meant NPCs. Desert Succubus is the other great Mod, but it's more designed for "Glamazons" as well. If you truly want to customize your character, you have to go into the Geck. The ingame face editor only has limited options compared to it. I've been told it's harder to work with, than the ingame editor, but the results are far superior to what you can do ingame. Mojave Delight is really good, because it comes with its own skin textures. I'm not a big fan of the heavy makeup versions either, but the standard skin which comes with it is pretty good.
Guest Nico28469 Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 You were not so wrong: Fallout Redesigned include some custom meshes, I didn't really looked at it through.. But I curently have it installed and It works like a charm. @Kashked : I used to play with Mojave Delight, It's a really good mod but the presets of the races... Making a good-looking char' with it is really difficult, the presets looks like some plastic dolls. Well I think I'll have to work with NV's limitations! I'll see what I can do with the GECK, I'm used to it. I'll also probably make some mash-ups between texture mod, to get rid of that fu***** neck seam, like I did for Skyrim. Anyway, thanks for your help, if I find something useful, I'll post it here!

[/quote'] A lot of people, myself included, tend to use mods like this for neck seams as well as trying to match textures as closely as possible.
Snoopy911 Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 Desert Succubus has some nice presets at the end which might give you a base for customizing.
Marchiavel Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 You can also try this : http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/44537 As there is a work on both the body and face textures, the neck seam is less visible...
sen4mi Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 In my experience, the best looking characters in Bethesda games are the africans/redguards. I like their facial structure much better than any other races.
QLee Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 I think you can get some decent looking characters if you tweak the presets quite a bit. Here is my latest effort using the default character gen with mikoto hairs + eyes, and Cass' clothing: And another attempt off the same preset: So what do you guys think?

I like them. I wish I had the patience to do such things... my character is a minorly tweaked Mojave Delight preset. She's cute though! Edit: Here she is! Just a quick shot, didn't feel like hiding the UI and all that.

astymma Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 It's pretty easy to create a blank mod, master it to NVR2, copy an NPC (and their race if you want a custom body/skin) you like the look of and set the "Is CharGen Face Preset" flag on the copied NPC. You would then create a new character, pick that NVR2 race (or copy if you made one) and the NPC's look will be available as a selectable preset. Make sure you set the playable flag on the race if it isn't.
ChancellorKremlin Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 God, your characters are so ugly. Once you find the trick to create beautiful characters, it becomes easy. All that is required is to replace the face mesh. Optionally you can get the right facial retextures and be an artist. I have created fantastic faces from Skyrim and New Vegas (sadly not Oblivion or New Vegas (and definitely not Morrowind) but I have came close to both). Enough of the bragging, New Vegas Redesigned II has a face mesh that is a must. For the face texture, if you search "femte" in the Fallout3Nexus, you will find a face texture that is not gaudy, yet it is beautiful and realistic. Or you can use the DK female face teture, but I reserving using that for the player and companions. As proof of creating decent faces, all I can offer are faces from my Skyrim. Dude, where the hell do you get off telling other people their characters are ugly? You realise beauty is subjective right? What the hell - if you don't like it, don't get involved. From a personal perspective, I much prefer the OP's characters, that's not to say yours are ugly, its just a case of preference. Keep it that way.

Mmm, because noseless Anime characters with barbie doll skin are ALWAYS attractive. ugh, Dont call peoples toons ugly, its downright rude.
astymma Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Karli2, I'm going to have to agree with CK and dweedle. The screenshots posted by the OP are much more aesthetically pleasing than the ones you have posted. Yours are a very specific style that I don't find attractive in the least bit. That doesn't change the fact that they're attractive to you... which, to you, is all that matters. If you're trying not to act like a dick, you've failed. You started off by saying that the OP's taste in beauty was wrong and ugly. You then blew your own horn on a topic that's purely subjective. What you find beautiful has NO bearing whatsoever on what the OP finds beautiful and insisting they change what they like to fit your extremely narrow vision of what you like is just trolling. The OP is simply seeking advice on how to make characters that resemble the screenshots they posted. Not on how to make characters that resemble the screenshots that you posted. See the difference? Given that you possess artistic skill and temperament, I'd think you, of all people, could respect another person's aesthetic instead of insulting it and telling them to switch to yours.
ElvenScoundrel Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Karli, your characters look like typical UGUU animu characters, not fitting the aesthetics of Fallout in the least. Like CK said, beauty is subjective, and you didn't prove anything by posting your animu waifu. Not only that, the post-processing makes the image look all hazy and hard to figure out must things, which is why I hate most ENB presets, which I think it's what you're using there. Lastly, she has a blank, bland expression. I see NO expression whatsoever, and your eyebrow tweak didn't help. Things like laugh lines, wrinkles, eyes themselves and actual expressions show expression. One thing is giving a damn, another is being pompous and harshly judging other people's perception of beauty. Learn to differentiate both, please.
Dude500X Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 Jaina Six says hi. 18 years old (slider min) 30 years old (slider halfway) (I play on this one, yeah, I have a thing for the milfy look hahaha) 40 years old (slider max) Mojave delight girl next door to be specific, although this is possible with vanilla as well just without the added makeup. A truly beautiful character is one that can stay looking sexy with the age slider at max. And she looks like a normal human being. edit: yep, managed to fix the stupid nose issue I had earlier today too
