Female Characters have highly visible neckseam and low resolution face textures, and skyrim just generally being a bit odd.

I recently started playing skyrim again after a few month long hiatus and decided to start a completely New Game

The only mods I added between then and now was the latest updates for Deviously Cursed Loot and Devious Followers, but the problems persist when rolling back versions.

I use Mod Organizer as my mod manager

First thing I noticed is that skyrim acted a bit odd, after I started it up through SKSE the game minimized itself but I alt-tab my way past that.

I click the new game button and get taken to LAL's character creation screen and I switch gender to female.

I then notice a massive neckseam on my character, seemingly downgraded face textures and a ill fitting head mesh

I then get a popup about a mod installing itself during character creation, which has always waited untill I've finished and named the character, leaving the character creation screen I see a long stream of messages that mods have been installed before they really should, or atleast ever have before.

I use Botox for Skyrim and that seems to be the most likely candidate for the neckseam, but coupled with the other issues I'm not sure, especially since I've been using Botox for over a year before where I have had a similar neckseam issue but reinstalling botox fixed it that time, doesn't seem to do so now.

I've tried reinstalling my other skin textures and reordering installation orders but to no avail.

These issues did not exist last time I started up the game and logic dictates that my skyrim shouldn't act this weirdly now.

I am sorry if this is difficult to read or uninformitative, I am tired after hours of troubleshooting this and sick from a week long cold so my brain is not functioning.

If you wish to help please tell me what information you require and I will try to respond, though I might take a while as I am extremely busy tomorrow and need to rush or miss a deadline.

Thank you for any and all help you might be able to give me.

make a screenshot using TFC console command for camera placement on the neck. Likely better to understand whats the issue. It can be msn map,can be Sk map,can be ENB param facetint or facetint texture itself. "A screenshot is better than a thousand words"  :)

Not really, you lowered her weight and its gone or you choose dirt mask and its gone ? In the screenshot it looks like its some of the detailmap.dds is giving you a neck color mismatch (It also could be blankdetailmap.dds from male folder). So first try this ; Load the game, open Chargen, open ENB UI, go to [FIX] tab, look for "FixTintGamma=true" (checkmark) and disable it (false)- you will see how body tint is changed with the neck. If it would not help,go to female folder and place all detailmaps somewhere.Reload the game for vanilla maps to load and test Chargen neck color again. Some old facedetail texture mods has wrong RGB gamma data in them and could make this issue.Female Fair skin texture "blankdetailmap.dds" can also could be the culprit. The last variant would be to replace _sk head and body textures for females to vanilla ones.

I had this issues before, so I just created my version of those textures and never looked back.

I'm not sure what you mean? It's present in both screenshots, It's just more visible in the first one probably due to the hair (Only changed presets)

If you look closer at the pictures you should also be able to see that they look rather low resolution and quite bad, and their eyes don't really seem to align with the heads properly

Correct me if I'm wrong but what you are concerned about is the difference in color between the face and body. You can certainly see where the two connect because of that. However, there is no "space" between the two which is generally what is referred to as a "neck seam."

you are talking about a gap, head above the body, dark points between hand and body, meshes that don't match each other

a seam, it's head with mature skin and body with fair skin (textures don't match)

or head nif with gloss 50 while body have 10 (textures not load with same settings on both mesh)

less visible with dirt mask than without? maybe black&white texture seam (the _sk or _s texture, or _msn that have a seam more or less visible depending on lighting, you don't check that in game but in nifskope, by loading diffuse, then msn, then _s, then _sk, and if it don't match, it suck and you replace)

Yes, in the second screenshot tint is less visible bcs of hair.Anyway, once you finished tasks that I suggested, write back the results. And don't load other head mesh preset, just choose a new preset to reset morphs. It might be that you are loading some follower Facegen Data with the preset.

I use the speedhack function of ENB according to the skyrim stability guide, I do not actually have any ENB Graphics and after failing to bring up the menu ingame I googled it and it turns out there is no ingame menu if you have the speedhack enabled.

There also doesn't appear to be any file called "blankdetailmap.dds" anywhere on my computer, so either there has been a miss-spelling or I'm missing files.

I did try using a different body texture mod though which turned out without any discolourings at the neck, so it might simply be the one I had previously and that it either got corrupted somehow or I had somehow never noticed before, which is a shame since I really rather like my current textures, but I guess I could start shopping around for a similar one.

Blankdetail is usually in "Data\textures\actors\character\male " path, some body texture mods has it. It is used for Face tint shader with Facegen_map flag to blend complexion textures. Some SSS maps (_sk) also can cause tint issues and they also in some texture mods, that's why I suggested to test all on vanilla maps.Turns out you had something with it.Since you just installed new textures, you will never find out what texture were the culprit, for another time.

Didn't have that directory path in my data folder before I tried new textures, It must have been my older texture mod I've been running for several years now that replaced them, so I'm guessing it must have been the textures in that mod that are the culprit
