Distortedrealms Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 So I said goodbye to my haswell build after 5 years of great service. The PC died never to return to life so I decided to use my savings and buy a next gen PC with a 8700k (To replace the old 4790k) and a 1060 6gb (to replace the 3.5 gig 970) and the proof is in the pudding skyrim is smooth as butter e=ven on a large mod list and I could not be happier if it wasn't for one problem: Extreme sound, and inventory lag. For example I killed a skeaver and it took far to many seconds for the death sound to happen.....that bad. Also when opening inventory, or even using Fep, a long delay happens before opening. I thought it was load order related as I had to start a new game/mod setup from scratch but heres the kicker, after frustration (and the subsequent permissions hell) I hooked up my old HD and got my old M02/Profiles up and running. My old rock solid profile that had no hints of lag/delay at all was ALSO doing it. Scratch load order off the list. Now the 4790k cpu was at 4.2 ghz when playing Skyrim, but the 8700k clocks at 4.6 so I am not sure it is cpu related. Could this be a weird situation where the cpu is to powerful for the gpu? I disabled hyperthreading, no difference, I disabled realtek onboard audio, no effect. I am very curious what could be causing these delays. Any ideas?

I think that have none relation with the power of the machine. I have to admit that his situation is a bit weird but we are going to try to solve it. First, it is strange that two sets of mods made by hand on different machines are exactly the equal and have exactly the same mods in exactly the same order. And if it really is like that, logically, they should work in the same way. Second, if you transfer your old MO profile from your old computer to be absolutely certain that the two installations are exacly equal and have the same problems, it can only be for 3 things. One: An outdated, poorly installed or incorrectly configured mod that, logically, affects the two installations. Two: a problem in the INI files of the game, because the two installation share the same game and can use the same INI files if you have copied one profile over another. Three: A problem in the saved game. Because I'm imagining that you ALWAYS load the SAME saved game to kill the SAME rat and see if your delayed sound problem is solved. Make a test in a NEW GAME and see if you REALLY have a problem or not. The issue of sound could be a problem of drivers in the new machine but it would affect all the sounds in all the games and not just the sound of death of a rat.
Grey Cloud Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 There is also the possibility that when loading the mods on the new machine a mistake was made or a different option was selected and the two load orders are therefore not totally identical. Was the enblocal.ini file updated to reflect the hardware of the new machine?
