HungryRon Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 When I start a new game with a certain amount of mods that initiate their scripts immediately, quests such as Amren's Family Sword, Ysolda's Mammoth Tusk, Carlotta's Bard Problem and Stop Braith bully Lars can't be initiated due to their dialogue not showing up. The only way to prevent this on my end is start a new game with as few mods as possible. Is this a thing that happens once you install a certain amount of mods? Can it be fixed? Or is this a telltale sign to rebuild my installation? Grey Cloud Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Paste your load order here not on 3rd party sites. Bad form, old boy. It's not a mod number issue. I run circa 200 and can get those quests. Maybe they all have 'triggers' - Amren arguing with his wife; Ysolda and talk about the caravans; seeing Braith bully Lars; Carlotta ? Having said that, I have had trouble with Ysolda mentioning the tusk and I rarely bother with the Carlotta and Braith gigs. I'd look at mods which alter the default behaviour of NPCs.

Does npc behavior get decided starting a new game? It only happens when I start a new game with my full load order (without Helgen Reborn). If I start a new game with only the mods I really need to start a new game with to work, save and exit the game, and then run the game again with all my mods activated this time, the issue won't occur.

It is part of the reason so many people with LOTS of hours on Skyrim have Alternate Start - Live Another Life. Being able yo start your game in a quiet cell without a lot of other things going on does tend to minimize the sort of issues that you present.

Hmm, it's worth a shot though it kinda sucks for me as I like the changes Opening Scene Overhaul made and it's incompatible with ASLAL despite what it says in the OSO description in the Nexus. Them's the breaks I guess.

Not really, but you need to know what you are doing. I had one quick game with ASLAL+OSO for the fun of it and it worked nicely. But now that I had that once, I wouldn't do it again. Because I am a bit lazy and it is too much hassle for too little joy. If you like to tinker a bit with your toys, you could extract the nice clothing/appearal of the NPCs into your own homebrew esp. Hadvar and Tulius really looked good.
