DenjiXMakima Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 Hey there. I am setting up a new build on my oldrim and I wanted to test some mods I didnt use before. Atm I am running kwanon enb + short grass I am a bit uncertain regarding some "blackening" of the grass in the background, please look at the screen shots: as you can see its getting darker the further away the grass is Spoiler but I would like to have it like in this screenshot: Spoiler I hope someone of you guys know the cause of this and can help me. let me know if you need further information please.
Psalam Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 This should be adjustable with your Skyrim.ini settings. Here is a link to the relevant page in the STEP wiki: https://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Skyrim_INI/Grass

TheMadCatter Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 It's no question caused by the ENB and the fog fighting each other on rendering the grass, I've seen people get this problem with using the Aeon realistic ENB. If you can disable that fog then try that. Or try a different ENB if you are not too attached to the Kwanon ENB.

I already tried it with snapdragon instead of kwanon enb, still the "shadow" won't dissapear. I got this to work once: Spoiler I had the same problem back then, but I can not find out what I did to solve the problem. @-@ I tried to disable shadows on grass but it makes no difference. I will try to disable the groundfog as you suggested and see if it's the cause of the problem
Grey Cloud Posted January 21, 2019 Posted January 21, 2019 It's shag-all to do with fog. I use Kwanon and short grass but do not have fog in my game. It's VRAM and lack thereof. I experienced the same issue with the regular short grass. I now use the Optimised 512 version. That clover type grass absolutely tans my game and gives me major lag caused by lack of memory. Whiterun plains was like walking through treacle. The issue was easily reproducible for me. I use SCO Summer Edition so there is no snow in my game. If I headed out of Solitude towards Dragon Bridge and turned off left to the Stormcloak camp - major lag due to the ground cover being that clover. Turn off the road to the right and head into the area which would normally have snow on the ground and no lag at all because the underlying grass is like a golf course. There is little or no difference, visually, between the regular and the 512 versions.
DenjiXMakima Posted January 21, 2019 Author Posted January 21, 2019 Ok, so I disabled "vivid clouds and fogs" and started the game. you were right the blackening was gone. but here comes the fun part, I reinstalled the mod and loaded my safe. and the "shadows" are still gone .... xD idk I have a theory, can it be, that while dynodolod creates the lods, that it does "SOMETHING" to the textures that makes them create this shadow? I say this cause after I reinstalled "vivid clouds and fogs" I didnt run dynodolod again. I simply activated the mod ran loot and load the safe

I installed the mod myself and had the same issue, but I don't have any ENBs installed. I installed some optimized textures for the grass mod and the problem went away, which makes me think that it's a VRAM thing. I've had things go dark on me before because of overloading my VRAM. So if you get the problem again, or if anyone looking at this thread in the far distant future does, then install this mod. There is a 1024 version and 512 version. There's not much difference anyways because it's just the grass.

Grey Cloud Posted January 22, 2019 Posted January 22, 2019 Which is exactly what I said - VRAM issue and use the 512 textures. I don't use dynodolod. There was also a couple of areas in the Rift which cause the same problem.

Skyrim - Non Adult Mods Request and Find https://www.loverslab.com/forum/81-request-find-skyrim-non-adult-mods/ Assuming you are running Skyrim LE (It's sometimes called a Golden Compass... I mean, Oldrim) If not and you're running SE then somewhere in https://www.loverslab.com/forum/72-skyrim-special-edition/ (SE really needs to be treated like a seperate game, imo, or all the LE sub forums need to have SE versions)
