Mombasa69 Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Just got my game all working wonderful, and now another pointless SSE update... So it no longer works, until a new SKSE SSE is out... "Oh well..." =( Sorry just rather annoying these updates, when the base game bugs never get fixed...

poplan Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Fallout 4 update today as well. On the plus side, SKSE has some bugs so maybe they'll get fixed now.
Froggy Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Time to switch to OFFLINE MODE for Steam until at least the Script Extender gets updated. No doubt it's just a bunch of new creation club garbage, but Bethesda will still find a way to fuck your game up anyway.
SpyVsPie Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Recouping them Fallout 76 canvas bag costs with Creation Club purchases... Classic move.

Ah nice idea, I always back up my entire game folder, may try to use that with offline mode... It's that crappy Creation Club stuff no one ever uses... Nevermind the bugs that have been in the game since like day one.
Mombasa69 Posted December 5, 2018 Author Posted December 5, 2018 Gah only backed up my data folder... well that gets knackard then =(
darkconsole Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 lol. i had just finally updated to skse 2.0.10 last week XD
android1966 Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Well that was annoying. Been playing most of today, went and cooked and ate a meal and came back to find the modded game could not launch.
Mazhen Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 I dont get the problem, just set your steam to only update your games at a time when your computer is turned off anyway, for me iv set steam to only update between 3am and 6am, and since im asleep at those times, my skyrim NEVER auto updates....
jimmybignutz Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 You can roll back by following This Guide. It has instructions on using steam to download the old versions .exe and you just swap it into your Skyrim folder. You don't actually have to download anything in the files section just read the description page.
rb888 Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 dam about get the mods finally to work lmao haven't played to much ahah trying get them to work
Geostorm69 Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 https://www.gottabemobile.com/skyrim-special-edition-1-5-62-update-whats-new/ i didnt read anything about the pc it just mentioned xbox1 and ps4
Torne Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 it did literally reinstalled sse last night modded it up and went to test and boom XD
Molokkx Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 Concerning Skyrim updates, for Steam: 1) Go to Skyrim SE's Properties (in the games list). 2) Go to the Updates tab. 3) Under Automatic Updates, scroll down to (and select) "Only update this game when I launch it." And leave it there. At this point, just launch Skyrim from outside of Steam, via SKSE (in Nexus Mod Manager, in Mod Organizer or in Vortex) and this will 'bypass' the regular Steam-based launching of the game, leaving the game's current version to where it was when you set that option as indicated in point #3 above. And it will only update the next time you launch the game specifically from Steam and normally (not via SKSE but just normally). And doing that will set your game as "Update required" on the Steam games list whenever an update comes out for it, but it won't update automatically; and will always show up as "Update required", just don't touch it; leave it like that and you're set. That way you avoid being screwed up by updates. I have my Fallout 4 version on Steam that way since a few months by now (not that I play it though right now). I did the same for Skyrim SE of course, its version hasn't moved since then.
V The Heretic Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 Well, not just that. I seen some Fallout 4 players also posting in here. So, I'm going to nip both sides in the butt.https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12480 ^This is SkyrimSE.exe Auto-Backuphttps://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/26956?tab=files ^ For Fallout 4 players also. From there, you can take Molokkx's route and just set the Automatic updates to "Only update this game when I launch it" or you can change the global update setting in the app manifest for steam to prevent further updates until you wish to update. Both those mods above create a back up working EXE file for the current build of SKSE and F4SE. Another Method would be to just go offline and make a back up yourself of the old launcher and replace it that way. Up to you, any of these ways work. Hope this helps. :3

If you ever close steam or shut down/restart your computer, the next time you launch via skse, Steam instead forces itself open to update itself before launching. This self update forces all games in your library to also start updating without your consent even if you never ever clicked on the default Skyrim exe. What you're suggesting only works if you never shut down your computer and it sleeps instead

It's true this isn't 100% reliable but if you leave Steam in Offline mode, it should work 100% of the time. When Steam reopens after a reboot, just make sure to launch in offline mode. That's what I do and haven't had it update yet.
rniet Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 Blech went down to get some coffee and got a phonecall, when i came back up the machine had updated the nividia driver and was forced to reboot. Guess what happened ... right the game updated again... again the dreaded updates ofcourse i had no previous version saved so ..... g....n freaking crap auto updates without a means to stop the crap. These idiots should allow users to decide themselfs if they want to keep running an earlier version. Look at sins of a solar empire free choice of several version to run even pretty darn old ones.... thats how it should be done. I really hate that freaking forced updates which actually adds nothing usefull to the game like the last 3 updates nothing really fixed just freaking stupid xbox/ps4 crap and other stuff i never use

SKSE will first log you into steam and then the launcher will appear since SKSE lost its 'request' to start directly. Make sure Steam is open before you launch SKSE and it will never update.
Mama Murphy Posted December 6, 2018 Posted December 6, 2018 I wish they would just shove the creation club up their asses and set fire to it. It should have been an optional download from the get go.

What you're suggesting only works if you never shut down your computer and it sleeps instead This is the only reason to why I have Steam set to start with Windows, and to only minimize if closed down. Before I set it like that I did accidentaly start the game via Steam a couple of times, since then never.
