Virus on LL site direct download fix?

Is there a time frame on when we can expect this issue to be resolved?

There are mods I would like to download from the site, but connection is timing out in order to protect my computer from a listed URL:Mal virus present on the website.

It isn't an isolated false positive issue with my anti virus (AVG) either, as others people on the site using other anti virus software are also having issues.

It will be solved in the first second that you start to manage your computer on your own. ... Instead of letting others manage the content you are "allowed" to see.

Seriously, had you ever spent a minute to look into the configuration of your AVG? ?

I have had zero issues with this site until a week ago, and I just spent the last two hours looking over my system. After going through AVG, Malwarebytes, Spybot S&D, and Eusing FRC...there's nothing any of those programs could find causing issues on my system.

This site is the only thing that is causing problems.

If it was an issue with my computer or AVG...why is it JUST THIS SITE that is causing issues? Any other site I go to causes zero problems with on-site downloading.

Thanks for just assuming that it's all my fault though.

I've been a member here for a while myself, and haven't had issues in the past. Why do you think I'm asking about issues? If you had the same issue and checked you system to find no problems, what conclusion would you come to?

@worik Why even post in the thread if you're just going to be rude like that? I can assure you that I'm not trying to cause issues, and I'm not looking disrespect anybody. I'm just trying to figure out what the hell is going on so I know what to do about it. You mention looking into my config on AVG...but make zero mention of what to actually look for. Plus, if that was the issue, wouldn't you think it would affect more that just this one website?

FFS.

Not meant to be rude! Sorry for that :classic_wacko: Its resignation. Deep resignation. Down to the bone.

Spoiler

Fun fact: I had the doubtworthy entertainment to watch so-called IT-security professionals from customer and vendor side at work.

Further commenting on that is like kicking helpless victims of car accidents.

Far too many people delegate their internet security or whatever they call it to some shady AV vendors. .. and far too many do even worse.

Spoiler

AVG and I:

I use AVG to scan my downloads, too. But just that. Nothing more.

Do I trust them?

Absolutely: a little

Relatively speaking in an AV market, filled to the brim with crap: Under conditions, but at least more than most

AVG is by far not the best product for most users, but it is certainly not the worst.

Am I happy with it? NO!

Do I recommend any settings: NO!

Because it's all a more or less a fruitless struggle to cirumvent the shameful failures of your (assumed) OS.

Something like I buy a car and even in advance I plan to buy immediately a toolset and some other gadgets in another store, just to be halfway sure to reach the first crossroads without a severe accident.

But probably because of my frustated ill-behaved formulating mistakes, you missed my point:

  1. Read the AVG documentation and fix it IF you feel certain. Leave it be if not.
  2. Or: It's likely not a site issue, it's an vendor issue. You paid for it ( I assume), it's their product, so it's their job to fix it.
  3. Or:  you decide that they are right to block your surfing. Logically LL is a malware fountain. If you believe so, clearly you should not download things from here.

Whatever you believe, your choice.

1. Never, because as I answered in your previous thread (that was relocated to the tech support section where stuff like this belongs) it is NOT a problem on LL's end, but rather on the crap anti-virus programs you are using:  https://www.loverslab.com/topic/112391-trying-to-download-zip-files-directly-from-ll-trips-antivirus/

2. Get a different anti-virus program or do without.  Sorry to be blunt but those are your only two choices.

3. Yes, it is isolated to those who choose to use crap anti-virus programs.

I guess I could give you a cup cakes and rainbow answer that sounds polite but does nothing for you, or instead, do what I have done and give you the straight up truth, even if it is a bit harsh.
