this, ive told these people time and time again "dont expect people to pay YOU to advertise YOUR game" but it just never sinks in.

Sure. We'll change that in the next game release.

 

We are going to make the game release of Episode One (Edgewood part) at 22th March. So keep an eye out of that!

Not really a "free" version of the game if it's behind a Patreon paywall. I've seen too many Kickstarters and Patreon software projects from unknown studios crash and burn to contribute to another with only a video as evidence that it's in development. Make your demo accessible outside Patreon if you want to garner interest.

Actually free tech demo has been released in Dec 2018 as we promised. You can find that post, with a working link to download and try, in UNDERTOW Forum (you can get there from our Patreon overview page). But keep in mind, tech demo and the game release of Episode One (Edgewood part) its two different things. Tech demo is a technical demonstration, The game release - that's actually the game. After release we'll update our Patreon page with information, that fits to current game state.

Neither can anyone else not donating on Patreon. It's explained that it's free to try etc etc and there's no convenient download link anywhere in this thread. "Go to other forum and find the link" is not really helpful.

Finally we have finished the stage A of our development roadmap. So I will post the game demo anytime soon.

 

Now we are going to be open world, so stay tuned!

Feedback for latest build:

 

a) It's very annoying to have to get past two weird / monetized link shortening servers before one can see the Mega link.

b) Once you're there and started downloading the Dec version, at 90% it tells you it's too big to download without creating an account. This made me shout swearwords at both Mega and the dev (but I still did not register.)

Feedback for September build: 

 

Good:

Best eye candy I've seen in a long time

 

Bad:

Horrible "click the dot at just the right moment" mini-game in sex and stripper scenes, extremely hard once the dots start appearing randomly, frustrating as shit.

Terrible UI that keeps getting stuck (if you press M the map appears, the only way to leave it is Alt-F4 apparently).

Gadgets like the drone may be a neat idea, but just add a useless complication to gameplay as the "Mojo" is just like two meters above you.

Long distances where nothing happens and you have to go sprint-walk-sprint-walk because of the useless "running energy" system. 

Ridiculous design decisions like "winning lesbian sex on the beach by clicking buttons at the right moment adds sex appeal, fuck her twice and you can go strip".

Lots of content locked behind "level 2" which the game doesn't tell you how to reach.

Lots of scantily clad (but non interactable) female NPCs but there doesn't seem to be any guys around (except like bouncers and someone who claims to be a film producer, but you can't enter the building).

 

Overall, it's a great-looking walking simulator on a beach, which is fun for five minutes.
Unfortunately the lack of gameplay besides running around with a constantly draining run meter, ande everything else using the worst bullshit clicky-circly minigame I've ever seen means I got bored after 10 minutes, which included having to restart four times because I got stuck. 

 

 

 

My walkthrough: Wake up in an apartment next to someone who breathes but can't be talked to. Leave, but make sure not to get stuck behind the door that you open. Approach the "?" girl for some bad quest dialogue; if you talk to her again you see a mediocre oral scene for some weird reason. Run to the beach, constantly toggling walk and run because energy drops quickly (why even add that?). Pick up gray shadows (cash), Pick up Mojo using the drone, or just buy one. Approach the westernmost "!" girl (the one east of her has a MUCH harder minigame). Press the circle when the two circles meet. Repeat so you have maximum sex appeal. Run back to the main street, enter the dance club, strip for money (using the same horrible bullshit minigame as the sex scene). Try to access the remaining content but the green map icon in the north is just an unaccessible area, and everything else tells you to be level 2 before you can go. Uninstall.

I can’t complain about the words you said. Look like your comment is too outdated. In short, they have gone far from that and those mini games with circles are replaced with a new sexy mechanic.
Anyway, If you want to make the game better, just leave your review on Patreon so the developers sees it.

TY; the game does look even better now than the Sept 19 build, and the promo videos I found really are cool.

 

However does not seem to be a free version currently, so I can't tell whether the latest build has bearable gameplay.

Not going to pay $$$ just to tell devs that their graphics are great but the design sucks. They're obviously not interested in feedback from non-payers (and/or have plenty of payers already) or there would be a free demo and Patreon posts that non-payers can read.

Can't tell myself though, since I dislike downloading pirated versions, and I'm definitely not going to pay to verify their bugfixes.

I'd be especially careful here because most players who actually tried the game seem to say it's graphically impressive for five minutes, until you realize it's an unplayable buggy mess (at least according to recent posts on f95zone). Can't tell myself though, since I dislike downloading pirated versions, and I'm definitely not going to pay to verify their bugfixes.
