I'd love to see some of the awesome mods for WO4 get ported to a game that has actual in-engine cutscenes. All this game has for cutscenes is either flat .PNGs on a flat background, or pre-recorded videos, so as a result, you only get to see these amazing mods during gameplay. Speaking of this game's cutscenes though, has anybody ever tried to replace those flat .PNGs with something a bit more tantalizing? I feel like you could make a good lewd cutscene image by just taking a screenshot of a modded character model in the game's gallery and editing out the background. All that's left is finding a way to insert it into the game. Also, I have a request, if there's anybody capable of editing mods still hanging around. Would anybody here be able to fix Athena's nipples in this mod? They're pretty noticably off-center. They're sitting on the sides of her areolas, instead of being in the middle of them. Athena-AllOutfits-Nude-HugeBreasts.zip 12.03 MB · 8 downloads I'm also still looking for these older mods in the spoiler tag below, that were shown off earlier in the thread. They're probably lost to time at this point, but I'm still hoping that they turn up someday. If anybody reading this happens to have any of these mods, please, by all means, post them here in the thread! Reveal hidden contents Hi @Murbor, regarding the modability of the games from the different series, it looks like this: - Dynasty Warriors 7 (PC Version) - Dynasty Warriors 8 (PC Version) - Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires (PC Version) Currently not possible - The files from the game can be unpacked, edited and repacked, but the adapted models themselves do not work in the game or cause it to crash. The corresponding tools probably create corrupt files somewhere during editing because they are not designed to edit models from these games. There is supposedly a tool that can do this, but the only publicly available version of it doesn't work and there is no documentation that might help. 3DMigoto is not an alternative option because the application only supports DX11, but the ports mentioned use DX9. Using a special wrapper such as dgvoodoo2 to run the game on DX11 is currently not possible... the tool does not support the games at the moment and the developer has largely stopped further development of it. - Samurai Warriors 4 DX Probably possible - I don't own the game, but looking at it I'd say it would at least work with 3DM since the game runs under DX11 - it's definitely worth a try. - Samurai Warriors 4-II Currently not possible - Similar to the three Dynasty Warriors titles for PC, an older port that also runs under DX9.0c. The files will most likely be able to be unpacked, but you will then face the same problems as with the other older ports regarding the editing of the models. 3DM is completely out of the question. - Warriors Orochi 3, 4 Ultimate and Warriors All-Stars Possible - 3DM is also a viable alternative, but with some significant limitations (for WO3, for example, all game files have to be unpacked manually in order to access the original models, as 3DM cannot rip them itself). By the way, your idea with the UI customizations is not new, but it has its limitations. In Orochi 3 Ultimate, portraits and certain parts of the UI can be completely replaced (see screenshot for example). However, this involves a lot of work, as the individual images are in many different files, all of which have to be edited one after the other. But it works in the end. The same actually applies to Orochi 4... although I noticed that certain portraits or parts of the UI cannot be replaced without causing errors. I couldn't figure out why this is the case - and as far as I know there is no known fix for it. However, it is not possible to create your own cutscenes with this - since the portraits are only one file (there may be several of them in different sizes), the changed image then appears everywhere it would normally appear in the game. Manually telling the game "use image X in scene 1 and later image Y in scene 2" is not possible. A change always affects everything. Edited March 3, 2025 by Geefbeef_NT Spelling 3
Murbor Posted March 3, 2025 Posted March 3, 2025 Thanks for all the info. Shame that so few Warriors games seem to be moddable. I would have loved some huge booba mods like the ones for WO4 in an Empires game. And regarding cutscenes, I wasn't talking about making "custom" cutscenes, I was just talking about replacing the portraits of the characters that appear above the text box (where they're visible from their head down to their hips) with different images. Like for example, taking this image of Naotora and replacing it with an image where she's naked and has huge breasts, so that every time the game calls on that image, you get to see tiddy. Your screenshot shows exactly the kind of image replacement I was hoping would be possible. Do any other portrait mods exist?

And if they are, they are almost certainly not readily available to the public. I have not seen any of these "in the wild", although I can imagine that there are certainly people who have created them. However, it is technically possible, as can be seen in the screenshots above. Difficult... for some reason the mod files cannot be opened with the usual tools in Blender. The 3DM script gives an error after opening and exits without result. Unless you can get directly to the model, troubleshooting in this case is a bit tricky... judging by your screenshot, either the orientation of the texture doesn't quite match the model or the original creator made a small mistake when creating the UV maps. So for me, this could currently only be "fixed" by adjusting the texture, but this would not correct the distortion and the off-center position (at least not completely). So that would not be a solution to your problem.

As we have discovered, there is a problem in the games mentioned that certain models share certain values, and when modding, all models with the same values are changed, which leads to graphical glitches (see following screenshot): In this example, the two models share the index values for the eyes and the face and so far there has been no way to stop or at least work around this - until now.... I happened to come across a thread a little over four years old from the developers of 3DMigoto while I was researching, and while it wasn't about the same problem, it did have a list of some very interesting variables that I tried out a bit. You surely have noticed that there are two values in the dump files from which you can read the index values for the mods - so far I have only used the "first index" for my mods, but as I found out, the "index count" can also be addressed with a mod... namely with the variable "match_index_count". I tried this and addressed the "index count" within the ini file for my mod instead of the "first index" (exact codes see spoiler) - with the following result: Reveal hidden contents [TextureOverride_Eyes] hash = dd245c8b handling = skip ps-t0 = ResourcePapTex_Org ;match_first_index = 0 match_index_count = 0 vb0 = ResourcePapVB_Eyes ib = ResourcePapIB_Eyes drawindexed = auto [TextureOverride_Face] hash = dd245c8b handling = skip ps-t0 = ResourcePapTex_CI ps-t1 = ResourcePapTex_CI2 ps-t2 = ResourcePapTex_CI2 ;match_first_index = 780 match_index_count = 5796 vb0 = ResourcePapVB_Face ib = ResourcePapIB_Face drawindexed = auto As you can easily see, the glitch has completely disappeared and both characters look normal - with Lianshi still showing the modded costume. The procedure is as follows: Create mod normally with the "first index" values. If glitches occur due to identical "first index" values, use the variable "match_index_count" instead of "match_first_index" for the affected parts of the model - and only for the affected parts. There is, however, a very nasty catch to the whole thing that undermines it if you don't pay attention to it - namely, getting the correct "index count" for the corresponding model. The "index count" seems to be dynamic to a certain extent, i.e. for models that share the "first index", for example, a dump always only throws out the "index count" for the model that is rendered first by the game engine. If you were to generate a dump from the view of the screenshot above, Sun Quan's textures would be thrown out before those of Lianshi - the "index count" values in the dump files would therefore be his and would be changed by the mod (although this also works, but certain parts of Lianshi would then no longer be displayed). To avoid this problem, you have to make sure that the character for whom you made the mod, in our example Lianshi, is the only character on the screen before you create the dump with "F8" - then the dump files will contain the correct working values for exactly this character. I tried this with a few of my own mods and the glitches disappeared. However, please note: There probably won't be a 100% test... so I can't say exactly whether the alternative mentioned here really eliminates all errors. If two characters have the same "index count" both would be affected - I haven't had this case yet, but I can't rule it out either. You mentioned back then that you had the same problem with DW9 - maybe you should try the alternative described above (i.e. "index count" instead of "first index"). I also have DW9 here, but I can't try it myself at the moment due to a lack of time. However, it would be worth a try. But always remember: In order to get the correct values, the character that the mod will be for must be the only character on the screen when the dump is created (environment and other objects are OK). I hope this information helps someone at least a little. ### Additional note ### I was able to ask a friend at short notice to try the method mentioned above with a mod that I sent him some time ago for Dynasty Warriors 9 - looks promising! To prove it, here is a small screenshot comparison: In the screenshot on the left, Xiahou Yuan turns into a scary pile of polygons when using the mod... in this case the "first index" was used. In the screenshot on the right, Xiahou Yuan looks as usual and Diaochan's costume mod also works as it should... in this case the "index count" was used. I think that is something that can be worked with ;). Hello just wondering does this mean I can mod Warrior Orochi3 with all this nude mod including Himiko and Qiao Sisters mod? Just change some file for it right?

Just change some file for it right? Hi, to answer your question: Theoretically, yes. However, there is much more to it than just exchanging "some file". The necessary steps include: Unpacking all of the game's original files, as the original models from WO3 for the mods cannot be exported using the proven tools. Editing the exported original models with Blender including editing the corresponding textures with a graphics program (GIMP, Photoshop, Paint.Net). Replacing the models at runtime with a tool called "3DMigoto" - the corresponding hashes are different for each character and partially overlap, which leads to problems. Without the appropriate experience and guidance, you can expect to spend some months before you can put together something even remotely usable (at least that's how long it took me, and I had a lot of time to spare during the pandemic) - I created a tutorial for this a little further up in this thread, but even with that, it's pretty difficult. In my opinion, Warriors Orochi 3 is not a good starting point for modding these game series without any prior knowledge. And even then, it's a pretty complex and time consuming matter. Sorry to give you little hope right from the start, but you may have noticed that apart from my few attempts here in this thread, there are no mods for the game (at least none that I know of) - for the reasons mentioned above. 1

yoeseur Posted March 11 Posted March 11 Can anyone help with me with textures mods in SW4DX Where I'm trying to change a character outfit color
Geefbeef_NT Posted April 12 Posted April 12 (edited) Hi everyone, I have something here where I could use a little help from you: Proof-of-Concept Costume Mod "Office Lady" for Guan Yinping (Dynasty Warriors 8 XL) Yes, you read that right, this mod is for the PC version of DYNASTY WARRIORS 8 XL. However, this is just a first cautious attempt to see if modding for the game even works - so far it hasn't been possible due to a lack of available tools. Fortunately, @amorrow28, whom I cannot thank enough at this point, was kind enough to adapt his tool (https://github.com/eArmada8/gust_stuff/releases) in response to one of my questions, so that models from this game can finally be adapted as well - at least in theory. However, the whole thing is being put together very, very quickly, and I still need a few people to test it alongside me. Okay - here's the file: DW8XL_GYP_Office_PoCMod_v1.zip How to install: Search for the file "D13397E.bin" in the following folder "\Res" in the Steam installation directory of "Dynasty Warriors 8 XL Complete Edition" and make a backup of it. Then overwrite it with the file from the zip-archive above. Done! To uninstall, simply copy the original file back. Known problems - As already mentioned, this is just a first attempt and therefore poorly done - you can expect the following: Clipping - some parts of the model might clip through others during movement. Texture problems - transparency doesn´t work (visible in the hair and eyebrows). The ported model is not fully adapted to the original model and is therefore too large or too small in some places. I cannot say whether all the problems can be fixed - only time will tell. Creating a mod for DW8XL is unfortunately anything but easy, and for the following reasons: The models in the game have a limit on the maximum number of vertices allowed - if the new model has too many vertices, the game always crashes when loading the character. This can be somewhat avoided by "decimating" the model in Blender, but unfortunately this also leads to clipping and sometimes clearly visible seams on the model. The game uses one texture for the face and one for the rest, meaning all new textures must be incorporated into one of the existing ones, which must not be too large, otherwise the game will crash. This isn't exactly beginner-friendly. So, what happens next? I'll leave the PoC mod here for you to test for now, and then I'll be gone again for a while. Unfortunately, I can't say if or when I'll be able to look into it more closely, sorry. Until then... have fun! Edited April 13 by Geefbeef_NT Spelling 5
Geefbeef_NT Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Hi everyone, below are some hints and tips for creating mods for the PC version of "Dynasty Warriors 8". Basic knowledge of Blender and an image editing program (like Photoshop or Paint.NET) is required. 1.) Finding the desired files Spoiler There is currently no complete list of which file contains which model for a specific character (at least none that I know of). This means that you will need to unpack a corresponding number of files as described below and use a tool like "noesis" (including its "projectG1M" add-on) to view the models. Guan Yinping's "Mandarin Dress" is located in the file "D13397E.bin" - use this as a reference and pay particular attention to the file size. This is the most labor-intensive step. Once you have found your desired character file, you can proceed as described below. 2.) Working with the game files Spoiler You will need a tool called "WO4Edit" to extract and repack the game files >>> WO4 Edit.zip Instructions for unpacking: Extract the tool files to a folder of your choice. Double-click on "Extract.cmd". A window will open. Drag the ".bin" file you want (example: "D13397E.bin") into it and press Enter four times. Then close the window. If everything worked, there is now a new folder with the name of the extracted ".bin" file in the tool folder. The folder contains two files named "0000.data" and "0001.data". The first is the model and the second contains the textures for the respective character. In order to work with the files, you need to change the respective file extensions - rename them as follows >>> "0000.g1m" and "0001.g1t". You can now edit the "g1m file" with the "g1m_exporter", which you can find here >>> https://github.com/eArmada8/gust_stuff IMPORTANT: Editing models from "DW8XL" is only possible from version number "v1.3.19" onwards. To edit, you will also need Blender and the latest version of the "blender_3dmigoto.py" add-on, which you can find here >>> https://github.com/DarkStarSword/3d-fixes/blob/master/blender_3dmigoto.py You can now edit the "g1t file" with the "g1t_tools", which you can find here >>> For a basic description of how to edit models from Koei Tecmo games, you can read my tutorial in this thread (3DMigoto is not required, as we are using the original game files). Instructions for repacking: Copy the modified "0000.g1m" and "0001.g1t file" back into the export folder and change the extension of both files back to ".data". Double-click on "Compile.cmd". A window will open. Drag the export folder containing the two files into the window and press Enter four times. Then close the window. If everything worked, a new file with the folder name and the extension ".mdata" (example: "D13397E.mdata") will be located in the export folder. Change this to ".bin" (example: "D13397E.bin"). That's it. Now copy your finished mod into the "RES" directory of the game's Steam installation folder. Don't forget to back up the original file beforehand. 3.) Instructions for editing models in Blender Spoiler IMPORTANT: The use of models from other games is only possible if you take into account that the models in the game may only have a certain number of vertices. According to my tests, the sweet spot is around 5,000 vertices - including a little leeway. If your mod exceeds this number, the game will crash immediately when loading the character. More complex models can be reduced to the allowed number of vertices using the "decimate" modifier in Blender. However, it's much easier and more convenient with the "sculptinator_2" add-on for Blender, which you can find here >>> https://blenderartists.org/t/sculptinator-decimating-made-easy/1411204/10 After installing the add-on, select the desired model in "Object Mode", then press "N" on your keyboard, open the "sculptinator" tab, select the lower of the two available options, set the number to "5000", check "triangulate" and then press the button. The add-on reduces the selected model to approximately 5,000 vertices so that it can be used in the game. However, please note that this may result in visible seams or gaps in the model, which you will need to fix manually. Also, make sure to assign a "weight limit" of "3" to each model part. 4.) Instructions for editing textures Spoiler IMPORTANT: Make sure to maintain the resolution and format of the ".dds" textures extracted from the "g1t" file. If they are too large or the format is incorrect, the game will crash immediately when loading the character. For modding, only the first two textures in the "g1t" file are of interest ("Diffuse" and "Normal"). Since the game only allows one texture per character, you'll need to copy the additional textures into this one, overwriting any unnecessary areas. The "Diffuse" texture has a default alpha value of approximately "130" (at least in Paint.NET). Therefore, ensure that any new texture elements you add have this transparency value. You'll also need to adjust the UV maps in Blender so that the new model parts point to the correct areas of the texture. Normal maps can be created quickly and easily with this web tool >>> https://cpetry.github.io/NormalMap-Online/ Drag a PNG version of your "Diffuse" texture into the browser window and set the "Strength" value to approximately "0.15". Then download the file. Also, don't forget to save the files afterwards in ".dds" files with the correct format and import them back into the "g1t" file. As you can probably see from the amount of text above, creating mods for the PC version of "Dynasty Warriors 8 XL" is anything but easy - some time and patience are therefore necessary (experience with the mentioned tools and with modding in general is also helpful). Good luck. As a small reward, here are a few example mods: Proof-of-Concept Costume Mod "Office Lady - Second Attempt" for Guan Yinping (Dynasty Warriors 8 XL) Proof-of-Concept Costume Mod "Bunny Girl" for Guan Yinping (Dynasty Warriors 8 XL) Proof-of-Concept Costume Mod "Cocktail Dress" for Xingcai (Dynasty Warriors 8 XL) GYP_Officev2_DW8XL.zipGYP_Bunny_DW8XL.zipXC_EveDress_DW8XL.zip Many thanks to funnybunny666, BananaBread and Shuubaru for the models. The three mods were created with the intention of exploring the limitations of modding the game - so please don't expect perfection - I simply don't have the time for more fine-tuning at the moment. And that's it again for a while - have fun! 2

I try this : https://www.nexusmods.com/warriorsorochi4/mods/28?tab=description but game doesn't work after install 3Dmigoto According to the description on the mod page, it may occasionally happen that 3DM has problems with Windows 11 or simply doesn't work. Normally, the game crashes immediately upon startup, or an error message appears right after launching it. It all depends on what happens when you start the game via Steam with 3DM installed. The Steam port of WO4U has been having problems for some time now – since around March, the application takes about two to three minutes to actually start. However, this doesn't always happen, and whether it occurs is inconsistent. If it happens, only an empty icon is displayed in the taskbar, and in the Task Manager, it looks like the game has frozen. After this waiting period, however, the game runs normally – even with 3DM installed. Sadly, that's all I can say about it. Edited April 30 by Geefbeef_NT Spelling
