Animations not playing

Specifically, Estrus Chaurus+ (EC+) animations aren't playing.

I have EC+ integrated with Deviously Cursed Loot (DCL).  Most animations work just fine, as far as I can tell, but EC+ animations refuse to work.  Testing was done by setting all other event chance weights to zero and setting cursed loot chance to 100%.  I can search, and the EC+ event will fire, but no animation will play.  Same thing if I spawn a Chaurus and get hit by a spit attack.  I will even get the messages in the top left from the Dwemer Machine events.  My character will just stand there (undressed) until I mash spacebar enough times for the event to finish.

The behavior is identical to issues with not having run FNIS.  Except I have.  I see in FNIS that it's "Reading EstrusChaurus V4.34..."

Estrus for Skyrim (EFS) is installed but not activated.

Estrus Chaurus+ in MCM has all six animations checked under "Registered Animations"

DCL in MCM has "Estrus Chaurus+: Found" under Supported Mods and "Enable Estrus integration" is checked

Animations are registered because I can "test" the animation under SL1.62 MCM "Animation Editor" (same thing happens, character stands there blankly)

Registered animations are ~400 for both Character (393) and Creature (414)

I have:

-removed and deleted DCL, EC+, and EFS

-redownloaded the mods

-reinstalled DCL, reinstalled (and deactivated) EFS, and reinstalled EC+

-run FNIS

-reset animation registry in SL1.62 MCM

-reregistered all animations

-run FNIS again

-run LOOT at various points

-started a new character

Same results every time.

Very briefly, I was able to get animations to play with EFS activated, but I've heard that having it active is dangerous, glitchy, and unnecessary.  Also, when I hit spacebar to progress an event, my character would jump.

Please help me figure out what I am doing wrong.  If I'm posting in the wrong place, let me know.  Thanks!

I don't know specifically. The most common cause of this that I have seen is a skeleton issue. Delete your current skeleton and replace it with XPMSE by Groovtama (do this even if this is the skeleton you currently have). Make sure nothing in your load order is overwriting your skeleton (this appear to be more common in users of MO but it doesn't hurt to check). If you are continuing to have problems please post your load order (preferably from LOOT and in a spoiler) and the output from the top half of the FNIS box when you run it (the part that includes what you quoted about numbers of animations).

Have you got these EC things registered/ticked in Creature Framework? I'm assuming you have 'Allow Creature Anims' (or whatever it's called) ticked in SL itself.

Have you tried initiating a sex act without DCL?

Does what you are tring to do work with any other creature type?

Have you tried starting an act and opening the console to see if any debug messages show up?

Reinstalled the XPMSE Skeleton (it's the one I was using), no luck.  Here is my load order:

3584 animations for 9 mods and 44 creatures successfully included.

I do have allow creature animations checked.  I'm not sure about the animations being registered/ticked in Creature Framework - these animations aren't specific to any creature, more like a certain subset of creatures can trigger the animations (although they're more commonly triggered by DCL).

I have tried initiating an act without DCL, works normally.

What I'm trying to do is get any of a set of 6 animations to play, and they're not specifically "character with creature" type animations, so I'm not sure how to answer if it would work with other creature types.  Normal creature animations work normally.

I did try opening up the console in the middle of one of the bugged animations, but no, no errors.

Thanks for the responses, let me know if there's any more information I can add!

First, congratulations on being able to use over 12k animations! Most people can't do it and the reason that you can is that your Skyrim game is only lightly modded.

Second it's possible, even likely, that your problem is that you are using the old version of MoreNastyCritters (MNC), the one that comes with SexLab Nude Creatures. Swap this out for the newer version that requires SLAL (SexLab Animation Loader). Follow the instructions carefully. It is not hard but it is particular.

Third, make certain that you have ticked the "allow creature animation" (or something similar) that is found in the SexLab MCM. If memory serves it is on the first page on the right hand side. If you do not SexLab will not allow you to run creature animations.

Psalam gives good advice, so try those first, even if it doesn't solve your problem updating MNC at least will prevent some future possible problems. Another option not mentioned yet is that you EFS version might be too new. It's been a while since i checked last time, but EFS got an update and EC+ didn't upgrade accordingly (maybe even ignored on purpose, not sure).

The EFS version that definitly should work with all LL addons if everything else is fine is 1.20. I never tried the new version personally, the update was supposed to fix some bugs and in theory the reasons to disable the .esp should be gone now, but ofc it's always possible to introduce some new bugs... it also added some new features but if you disable the .esp, you won't notice any difference anyways.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention - wasn't even aware a newer version was out.

It's checked - all other creature animations work.

Sadly, this didn't work for me.

This worked!  Kind of.  If I have the old version installed/active, it works.  If I disable the .esp, everything goes back to the same problem I was having before.  Enabling the .esp makes everything work as it should.  Weird.  I guess I'll just be happy I don't have to tinker with it anymore, and hope that having it enabled doesn't break my game.

Anyway, thanks for all the help!
