I'm getting a constant CTD whenever I try to start a new game or load a previous file, and I get a Runtime error. Worst part is that it was working fine earlier today. I can get to the logo, and get to where it says "continue, new, etc." and after choosing one of those two, it starts to load, then it CTD's and I get this error message that says there was a Runtime Error. All I did beforehand was remove some unused mods and updated other mods via NMM. None of these had anything to do with the .dll file. If you have upgrade some big mod's like Devious Devices, Zaz, Virgin... or upgrade mod's with alternate animations like PCEA2 or XPMSE your total animations count can excess the limit and the game make the CTD. The limit is totally installation dependant and is not a exact number. Depend of how many mod's you have, the size of the mod's, the number of objects inside the mod's... the game can't manage all the info from mod's + animations and make CTD. Make the sum of normal animations + creature animations in FNIS. Any number over 10k can make CTD. The normal number is 12k. I have 13k and Nazgull have 15K.

It might help in tracking down the issue. No. No numbers of any sort. And I already tracked down the issue. It is htdPhysicsExtension.dll that is causing the problem. I mentioned it in the opening post.

You have, as you also pointed out, corrected what has been pointed out to you as the problem. This means that either you did not do it properly (which I am loathe to suggest) or there is another problem that this is just the symptom of (I've had that happen to me many times with Skyrim over the years). So, again, sorry if I offended but I'm just trying to cover all the bases that I can think of.

I'm just a tad frustrated, that's all. Anyway, I think I managed to solve the problem. Luckily for me, I backed up skyrim from a week ago, and I copied the entire data/skse folder from my backup to my hard drive then tested it. No CTD at all! I got to the new character screen when starting a new game, which is brilliant because I never got that far before it CTD'd on me as stated earlier. Thanks for your help and support!

When you say "It is htdPhysicsExtension.dll that is causing the problem" i presume if you disable HDT Physics Extensions mod the problem disappear and you can start a new game and create a new character without CTD. But i need ask: How many mod's you must disable??? Because a lot of mod's require HDT and i presume you are deactivating a lot. The problem must be in one of that. For get an error number and know the real module that are causing the CTD you need install Crash Fixes 12 and look in the log of crash fixes. Other option is enable minidump in SKSE.ini and upload the dump file to OSR Online for analize it. As you get the main menu i presume you have a problem in a mod that are making incorrect things with the update. Maybe the new version have diferent requeriments or need aditional compatibilty patch or special configuration or specific load order. Can be a skeleton problem, is know that can cause CTD. Reinstall the last version of XPMSE and let it overwrite all. If you have MO put it ver low in the mod list giving it maximun priority.

I didn't actually try disabling HDT physics, but I suppose it could've worked. I do have Crash Fixes and still got nothing from it. No, there aren't any new requirements. I've made 100% sure on that. Ran LOOT to make doubly sure. No problems with my skeleton. It was the .dll that was causing the problem. I'm sorry, but the only thing I can think of is to make regular backups and if something like this occurs, just restore from backup and hope it works out.
