fred200 Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 In November, Sims 4 will be updated with code from a new Python, breaking most current mods that have scripts. How to we block this update until the mods catch up?
ShinryuDensetsu Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 Pull up your Origin, select the Origin tab, and then click "Go Offline". That should do it until you're ready to patch your mods and game.

Too_Funky1987 Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 yep, turned my origin off already not gonna get caught again! lol
Black Rose Sanguinarian Posted October 27, 2018 Posted October 27, 2018 This is a new update. we will waiting for it at the first days of November. i think near to 5 or 6 November. I hope all the creators from mods, script mods, CC, etc to see it, and to be prepare for this, because they will destroy our mods and scripts with this update PYTHON UPGRADE ARTICLE: http://simscommunity.info/2018/10/03/modders-beware-the-sims-4-is-getting-a-python-upgrade/ You can also read this article here : http://simscommunity.info/2018/10/23/the-sims-4-november-2018-update-article-preview/
Guest Posted October 27, 2018 Posted October 27, 2018 Updates will always destroy mods. But often the mods will be updated. For sure WW will be updated quickly.
Rokabur Posted October 27, 2018 Posted October 27, 2018 Breaking mods is exactly the point of the update.

Not true, EA have already supplied the resources to update script mods for this weeks ago! They announced this well in advance, Turbo and others are already prepared to make changes when it drops,

You really should put that tin foil to better use than making hats out of it. If EA really wanted to kill mods, they could do so in a heartbeat. Considering that they haven't done this yet, and that they have gone out of their way to inform the modding community about these changes ahead of time, it's safe to say they don't want to break mods intentionally.

I hope for this the reason for why i am a little bit afraid of this update , is because they change Python , so it's something new and more difficult from the other updates until now ?
instantmagic Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 Hi All, awhile back EA reps indicated that the company would be upgrading the version of Python used by the game. They said “the game currently uses Python 3.3.5 and will be moving to Python 3.7.0. Once this change is released, all compiled script mods will completely stop working.” This caused a bit of consternation in the Sims community, as everyone was worried their favorite mods would break and modders would not be able to update to work with the game. The tool most Sims 4 modders use for script mods - unpyc3 - has been updated by Andrew. Read more HERE. Please note, the code here is effective only after EA updates in the November patch. The crisis has been averted, and Sims 4 modding will go on as usual (updates to existing mods may be needed - but those mods can be updated). Kudos to EA for this Python update and giving the community a heads-up!
Guest Posted October 30, 2018 Posted October 30, 2018 The heads up was really appreciated by modders. And most of script mods will update to the new version of Python quickly.

I wouldn't fret over it too much, just make sure that you're not set to automatically receive updates and you'll be fine and "Modgate" won't catch you out, It's script mods that will be the target and these are easy to find if you arrange your folder by "type" Basically in a nutshell, the package files will be safe and the ones to take note of will be TS4.SCRIPT or a RAR file, Some scripts can also have package files attached but you'll spot this when you have a newer version to drop into your folder, If it's named same as before it'll give the option to overwrite but if not you'll have to locate and delete it via the search bar,
