Devious Devices - Laura's Bondage Shop (11-dec-2023) V3.43

Recommended Posts

An idea for an extra repeatable quest:

You can ask any of the priests of the Arkay, if they happen to have found any devices lately on any of the bodies that got brought in. There is a chance, like 50%, that this is the case. Then he/she asks if you would like to have the devices if he/she would them lock onto you. Now it is possible that you only get one minor item, or several items, or a more hardcore one. (like a armbinder or blindfold)  You can ask multiple priests in a row, or you can decide you got enough items and go to Laura. She can then unlock them and she gives you gold for the items. This would be a quest that doesn't have to start in shop but can start anywhere in one of the major cities with a priest of the Arkay, but is still linked to the shop. You can add some dialogue where Laura tells you to maybe check if the dead have some devices they don't need anymore to guide players in the right direction. To keep it somewhat realistic, you can only ask this, like once a week per priest.

And alternative to the scenario where you have to go to Swain:

You have found a very rare cursed item that can't be unlocked by normal means. You need a special key for it. I don't really know where that key could be (in a dungeon, city), but you can probably figure something out. Now you might do need to unlock the armbinder, to enable combat. But you can keep the rest on until you have found that special key.

i got an idea for a multi stage quest. it starts with laura receiving a request for some strange items in a ruin. she asks the player to go and see what is there. when the player gets there they find an ancient book in a chest or on a podium. when the player picks up the book a collar is equipped on the player. with the collar equipped the player cant open the book to read it. so the player takes the book back to laura, who can open the book. after reading the book laura tells the player to remove the collar you will have to retrieve the rest of the set, but this book only tells where the next piece is which is arm cuffs. the player then goes and gets the next book and has the cuffs equipped. the process continues until the player has gotten the leg cuffs, plugs, belt and bra. after the player has returned with the book and the bra, the player then had to go and get one final book which has the removal phrase. while wearing the items the player cant wear any armor. but the items are enchanted to protect the wearer from damage (reduces all damage taken by 50% and absorbs the first hostile spell cast at them healing them for the amount of damage dealt) when the player returns with the final book laura can remove the items, and lock them away for the special client.

That sounds interesting.

Like Zaflis said, it's really similair to DCURs Cursed Collar and Bound Queen. That's not a bad thing, they're both amazing. I really like the idea, I just need to make sure that mine will be different.

I play with world very close to vanilla to keep script load etc light, haven't tried Open Cities yet and based on what i've heard on its conflicts propably won't be trying either ?

I actually doubt that it's something I did wrong. I would've gotten a lot more reports about it if that was the case. I only got maybe 3 people saying that they're not spawning.

Spawning the NPCs is also something the game handles. I didn't have to write a script that does it.

But I'll keep looking for an answer.

I'm not sure about wearing the restraints of dead people, but I like the idea of asking for more restraints for a higher reward. The risk versus reward aspect could be really fun.

Having another Swain outcome could also be fun.

I did not want you to be able to ask every NPC. That way you would only "farm" in Whiterun and walk back to the shop. Now it is possible you get rejected and have to go somewhere else. If you find an other way, you can do that of course.

I know that you didn't want it for every npc. I meant that I liked the part where you can ask for extra restraints for a higher reward. Having it as an option for every npc would be unbalanced and unrealistic.

Did I say something weird?

So here I'm again with another nitpicky suggestion: Have you considered smoothening out the flow a bit in Laura's generic dialogue? The topics you can ask her about or the services and goods she offers. There are a lot of topics that end up breaking off dialogue, should you exhaust the options in said topic, or when selecting the appropriate response. Though if someone just were to explore all the dialogue options (as there is quite a bit to explore, especially with the curse topic and all), they'll get repeatedly broken off from the dialogue and have to reinitiate and go through it again. Since Skyrim already has a button to instantly break off dialogue, goodbye responses from the player might not be necessary everywhere, and instead selecting them could loop back to the root topic.

Here are some specific examples:

Keys topic - "That's all" should take back to dialogue root topic.

Special offer - "Not interested" to root topic.

Jammed locks - Should loop back to root topic, not break off dialogue.

About restraints - First submenu could have a go back option to root, and when investigating about the curse further, "That's all" could take you one level up to said submenu instead of breaking off dialogue.

What did you do - "That's all" to loop back to root topic.

Is there something - Could have an option to go back to root when selecting quest.

All feedback is welcome, even the nitpicky ones. :P

I'm nitpicky too and I think I had this on my todo list, but I completely forgot about it.

I'll see if I can improve the flow of the dialogue.

No, just extra clarification. I can't imagine someone who would want to wear restraints from a dead person. But this what I came up with that was somewhat realistic and balanced.

Now thinking about it again, you can use smiths/general good stores instead. Something like: Has someone sold you any devices lately that you can't get rid of?

Okay.

Merchants would be a better pick. It makes sense that they would have them and we visit them anyway.

Did you try it more than once? The likely cause is some script lag, mod conflict or error in installing some required mod. In the end the save could be messed up, you would then propably see tens and tens of errors in papyrus log.

This mod hasn't been converted or tested for SE.

The shop part works, but quests and scenes can cause issues with SE.

I suggest that you use Skyrim LE if you want to play the quests.

But if you really want to try this with SSE, make sure that all required mods are the SE version. I heard that it did work for some people.

That sounds interesting.

Like Zaflis said, it's really similair to DCURs Cursed Collar and Bound Queen. That's not a bad thing, they're both amazing. I really like the idea, I just need to make sure that mine will be different.

here is how they could be different, they could be from a set called the slave breaker set.  while wearing the collar all answers would have master or mistress. the lore behind them could be that some one asked a daedric lord for a set of devises to tame his slaves, with out having to resort to hurting them. and the items created would make it feel natural for the slave to do what the were told to do, and adress their owner as master or mistress. the set could include a belt with plugs, maybe a bra, and maybe arm and leg cuffs. when the whole set is worn the slave would want to do anything to make their owner happy.

I sencond this idea, it sounds like it could become very interesting as a one-time quest. You might also tie in your first encounter with Sloane while wearing the slave breaker set. You would encounter her once you have the entire set on. She has heard you know Laura and that you took some jobs for her. Sloane would then use the set to make you do something (like retrieve an item in a dangerous place) and then leave and send you back to Laura with her regards and a reminder that she will come to collect soon.

I don't know if you like the idea, but it just popped up in my mind and I wanted to suggest it :)

i could see it, but feel that the person who poseses the book after the collar is equipped would be the one adressed as master or mistress, and would be the one who the slave, curently the player, would obey/ want to please. all others could be ignored unless if their owner said not to. not saying that sloan couldnt attempt to force the player to do something for her. but with the idea, the player could refuse the initial order and sloan would have to make a threat against laura and/or the shop, using the MQ as an indicator and my personal play style of protecting the players friends, that making a threat towards one of the most powerful people in skyrim could come back to haunt the person in the end.

when i had this idea it was designed for a slave owner that didnt like the idea of whipping their slaves, they felt that their slaves would be more productive if they were not hurt and if they felt happy doing the work. since there is lore that Azura i believe, is the least evil of the Daedric lords, that she was asked to create the devices. she saw that the person was genuine in his request of wanting to be, for a lack of a better term, gentle with his slaves, so she made the items for the slave owner, in a different era. and that is why they are now hidden in ruins.

That sounds really interesting. A special magical set of restraints that brainwashes the wearer into a obedient slave.

It won't fit Laura or Sloane, so I'll probably have to create a new character for this. It could be a higher power like you said, but I don't want to mess with the vanilla lore too much. So it'll probably be a powerful mage or something. But I'll take a look at the lore to see if this is something a Daedric lord would do.

I did have a magical set of restraints on my todo list. But it will probably take a while before I add this, because I want to focus on Sloane/Jade quest line first.

THREE LORDS would do that! Molag Bal begin the first, as he is the daedric lord of domination, as well as the King of Rape (That is literally one of his titles). Sanguine would do it as he is the dardric Lord of indulgence, excess pleasure and carnial sin. Sheogorath would do it for a quick laugh at someone else's expense.

Thanks for letting me know. Seems all 3 would fit that role. I can even choose between cruelty, lust and pranking.

On top of those:

Clavicus Vile, since he is a sort of a trickster, where he entices you with great benefits if you accept him granting your wishes, but it'll backfire on you.

Mephala is literally the devious daedra, as she is known to associate herself with secrecy and sex, and likes to cause problems for mortals for her own amusement.

I was never really interested in the Daedra for some reason, but that's really interesting.

Was Skyrim your first venture into TES? If so, that's understandable, since I've found their involvement miles better in Morrowind and Oblivion.

Yeah, it's my first TES. It was also pretty much my first RPG.

I did read a bunch of the lore in Skyrim and a lot of it is cool, but the Deadric lords never really interested me. I think that it was because they seem like 1 dimensional archetypes to me.

It's like: Mogal Bal is evil and he does evil things because he's evil and he likes it. And I think that it's kinda the same for all Daedric lords. It's cool to see what their powers are and who they were, but they're not interesting characters to me.
