MO help - Skyrim stuck on load screen

Hiya folks.

So, I seem to have thoroughly broken it again.

I think I have broken Mod Organiser rather than skyrim, but the net effect is much the same.

Skyrim will hang for hours (I havn't let it run for longer) on the load screen. It gets as far as the background image, but doesn't bring up menus or anything.

I suspect it is related to this error that MO is reporting:

Quote

DEBUG (09:41:18.0925): hook for GetFileVersionInfoExW installed at 73761540 (trampoline at 0B820000)
DEBUG (09:41:18.0925): all hooks installed
INFO (09:41:18.0925): injection done
DEBUG (09:41:18.0936): create process (a) null - "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_172\bin\javaw.exe" -Xms2223m -Xmx10559m -jar "C:\Users\Idiot\Desktop\Skyrim Mods\FallrimTools 3.0.3 (alpha)-76776-3-0-3\FallrimTools\FallrimTools.jar" --resaver (in null) - hooking

ERROR (09:41:18.0952): failed to inject into (null): failed to access thread context. Please note that Mod Organizer does not support 64bit binaries! (The parameter is incorrect. [87])
DEBUG (09:41:18.0954): hooks removed
----------- LOG END -----------

Which I think is related to Resaver (the only save cleaner I have found that works once you go over the string limit).

I havn't updated Resaver recently and it has always worked fine before so my guess is the issue is more to do with some hooks having gone astray than the 64bit problem it highlights. Resaver will still launch & run fine.

Skyrim will run fine if launched directly from Steam.

Any ideas how I can go about getting skyrim working through MO again? Is it possible to force Mo to reset all it's hooks, virtual librarys etc?

Thanks in advance.

try disable FallrimTools... you not need it ENABLED.

Ok.

Without wanting to sound like an idiot - err, how?

It's not a mod, it's an executable. I can't just untick it in the left hand pane, because it isn't in there...

Am I missing something here?

How you have installed it???

Really is not a mod... is a utility.. but you must install it as any other mod.... look:

Remove your link to the executable and create a new link with the new installation as a normal mod.

Try your game and tell us.

BUT WHERE have your mods???  In DESKTOP???

The personal DESKTOP is a personal folder under severe ACL control. NEVER install or store anything in DESKTOP.

I recommend that you move your "Skyrim Mods" folder to another location such as C : \ Skyrim Mods

But I guess it means to delete all your mods and reinstall it.

If your system works, leave the folder on your desktop, but it is a VERY BAD idea to store, install or run programs on the desktop.

Is there no way to update the links mo uses so the folder could just be moved in it's entirety without reinstall?

I'm guessing here but just having a java application in desktop is what led to this problem since it would run into trouble with updating which is what the error would seem to be about.

Of course, you can... go to the executables list in MO and click edit.. You can change the location of the binary executable... in any moment.. in easy way... but i think that is not the problem...

Is absurd that MO try make a hook to an executable that has not been installed as a mod... can't be...

I presume that the fallrimtools has been installed as a mod inside another mod or something similar, maybe making a bad group of mods or a bad bashed patch... is my only explication...

Is the only way for MO try make a hook to FallrimTools... specially when FallrimTools not have any file that must go to the game... is a utility external to the game... not need any hook when launch the game...

Only can need hook when launch the executable... and ReSaver have EXE extension... not need launch the JAR file NEVER... until you want use ReStringer... i not understand it...

To solve the problem now, remove the link and remove FallrimTools.

If MO says he tries to access a non-existent file, my suspicion can be confirmed.

DO precisely what GenioMaestro says here.

First, eliminate (remove, execute, kill) the Fallrim Tools that you have. When (not if) you reload it, load it manually to your desktop or another file (I keep it in my Downloads file, for instance).

Second, let us know if it works or not. As he said, it may have messed up other files and some of that may need to be tinkered with as well.

...err, well, it would seem not. I unpacked the zip, pointed MO at the executable and called it done.

Worked fine up until now, and may have been a red herring.

I have however deleted the unpacked folder, and removed the exectuable from MO's list. Which didn't help.

Yeah. I know. It was a temporary measure when I had to rebuild windows10 for being windows10 and wanted to dump all my skyrim mods somewhere I could find them. It's basically a libary of downloaded mods, but that also means that anything that wants unpacking (like Resaver) gets unpacked into there...and then run from there, if it's an executable and that's where it is. I'll tidy it up at some point, but I still need to finish the system rebuild after reinstalling windows10 due to BSOD errors. That process stalled because I still havn't fixed the BSOD errors... lots of yak shaving going on there. Anyways, like most 'temporary' fixes it's been there for way longer than it should have been - but still seems to be ok.

...And bingo!

WE have a culprit.

Just out of curiosity I disabled the wrye bash patch, and it loaded up nicely.

Re-enable it and it hangs on the load screen again.

Top marks to you, and many thanks!

...now I just need to work out what's wrong with the bash patch...

It rebuilt cleanly without throwing out any errors, but the problem persists and is reproduceable.

It could be that my game is now big enough (I have several large merges of things like items) that it's just breaking wrye bash. It could be that a recent mod is causing problems. Still, I have some things to investigate now.

Thanks again for the help.

...and, after some poking around, fixed.

Turns out Wrye bash was merging a whole load of mods with disabled .esps that I had already merged. Which clearly confused something.

Presumably previously I had spotted this and removed the merges from the patch, but because I have had a short break I forgot to.

Thank you all again for your help!
