I lost my Red Rocket Basement build, all my carefully crafted settlements.. 4 days of real life savegame time lost.

Get Transfer Settlements. It is seriously a must have mod if you are a big settlement builder. Every time I finish building a settlement, I save the blueprint using Transfer Settlements. This way, if anything ever goes wrong in my game to corrupt a save or just endless crashing, I can start a new game without worry of having to rebuild everything I spent way too much time building. Just scrap what needs to be scrapped, and import the settlement.

Doesn't help. The last update did something to the game files, I couldn't avoid it. I had clicked once on the wrong icon by accident and it immediately updated, within seconds I was fucked. I restored my exe as usual but my savegame was corrupted. I lost my Red Rocket Basement build, all my carefully crafted settlements.. 4 days of real life savegame time lost.

Now after the latest update, in game lights aren't working correctly, no idea why.. I haven't changed or added any mods.

I hate these fucking updates.

I feel for you. In my game as of .98 runtime, anytime I go to Covenant and do the mission chain there, I will not get any XP going forward. Additionally abrexo cleaner is in mods and not junk, despite it saying the break down.

It's a good thing I've never even touched this game, because by the sounds of it, I would have given up ever trying to mod it again after reading all of this shit.

Creation Club is new. We never had it before. It was just Fallout 4 for the longest time without a Creation Club. They finished the game and for quite awhile there was no Creation Club or talks of it. Modding the game was easy and no worries of Bethesda adding anymore patches or anything. The game was done.

It wasn't until a little over a year ago that they decided to release their new Creation Club. And it is for Skyrim SE as well, not just Fallout 4. The paid mods thing failed when they tried to do it on Steam, as they got huge backlash from the community over it, so they tried again with Creation Club. Except this time, even though there is a bunch of backlash again for it, they are sticking with it.

Besides, everyone is making it out to be a bigger deal than it is when it comes to dealing with the updates. Just don't update your game till your F4SE mods have updated and you'll be fine. Once they have updated, then feel free to update your game. If you don't use F4SE, then the updates won't bother you whatsoever, as the only thing the updates break is F4SE. Which usually gets updated pretty fast, along with the corresponding mods within the following few days (week at most). If seeing all the Creation Club content annoys you, download the CCCleaner which removes the Creation Club from your screen so you never see it.

The game is still worth playing, regardless of the Creation Club updates, which are easy to deal with and not as big of an issue as they seem. Remember they do this for Skyrim SE as well, not just Fallout 4. And you can expect it to continue with any newer Bethesda games going forward.

Uhh.. the latest update did my game files and all my savegames. And 'just don't update' sounds easier said than done. It worked well for over a year then 1 mis-click on the Fo4 icon and you're basically screwed and need to patch everything.. F4SE, underlying mods.. everything...

The only real way to keep your game safe is to make a FULL copy of everything, then restore that when an update is done.

Also, 8 weeks ago, Steam FORCED an update for me, with a popup saying I couldn't play until it was updated...
