Hunter136 Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 Is it possible to get the nif of a steam mod? I want to toy around with a helmet from the workshop and try to learn some stuff about nifskope, but I can't find it.
myuhinny Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 Nif files from steam mods are found in their BSA file. You'll need a BSA extractor to extract the file you need if you plan on modifiying the file you'll need to make folder pathway in your steam folder that matches the pathway for it in the BSA so that your modified file overrides the one in the BSA and makes the one you modified appear in game instead.
Hunter136 Posted July 20, 2018 Author Posted July 20, 2018 Found it, the texture's don't appear though in nifskope. Also do we have a thread for nif stuff, or is there a good tutorial somewhere?
myuhinny Posted July 20, 2018 Posted July 20, 2018 Texture files that are in a BSA only show up in game but not in nifskope. You must extract them from the BSA file and place them in your game folder using the same texture pathway shown in the BSA or nif.
Hunter136 Posted July 20, 2018 Author Posted July 20, 2018 I merged the workshop mod with one of my other outfit mods. Still doesn't show. Is there some stuff I should set up in nifskope?
myuhinny Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 You must extract those texture files out of the BSA file. Now look at the texture pathway in the BSA for the texture file then make that folder pathway for the texture files. Now if the texture folder pathway matches the texture pathway in the nif then the outfit should render in nifskope if it doesn't render then that means something is wrong so check the pathways again. Spoiler
Andy14 Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 And you have to Setup your Nifskope for Skyrim Data path. It should be in Render -> Settings in NifSkope
