arc12 Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 So I've been having a lot of weird issues for the past month or so. First it started off with being unable to load old games, not super old just at day or so, sometimes even those from the previous night. The moment I tried, it would crash to the desktop (CTD) and I learned I would have to start a new game every time I wanted to play. But according to LOOT there were no issues in the load order and nothing was missing, and as far as I could tell there was no issues with my computer not being able to handle the load. So I figured I'd start fresh; re-download all of my mods all over again, along with all of their dependencies, all 142 of 'em, just see if there was just mods that I had missed an update on or perhaps hadn't loaded correctly or something. Clearly that wasn't the right thing to do because now, now it won't even let me start a new game. It starts to load, since I have alternate start it should take me to a cell, and it loads the lv 1 bar in the top right corner just before it crashes to the desktop. At this point I don't know what to do and I'm thinking maybe someone else knows more precisely what's going on or which mods are to blame. Here's the list of my mods from the steam workshop and I've attached screenshots of my NMM which are all or mostly SL mods from here and any of their Nexus dependencies: SkyUI Level One Perks Spend Dragon Souls For Perks Craftable Skeleton Key by AnriTool No Required Perks Enhanced Leveling Real Dovahkiin Strength The Divine's Shrines Retexture by Andre7890 Run For Your Lives Silent Followers v1.0 (Stealthy) Horns Are Forever! Follower Trap Safety Lockpick Pro Get All Standing Stone Powers Non-Hostile Friendly Fire Longer Days Reduced Distance NPC Greetings Let me know if you need any more info, I would really like to get this sorted and start playing again.
arc12 Posted July 1, 2018 Author Posted July 1, 2018 Probably because at some point I had a mod that required unp and didn't take cbbe and they never conflicted before. But, I got rid of unp just to see if it would help and it didn't. Still crashing to desktop whenever I try to start a new game.
jfraser Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 that usually means you're missing a dependency. run tes5edit with all mods checked and see if it throws an error
Newbie2015 Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 Hi. About loading games CTD try this mod. I think a good idea is to switch from nmm to mod organizer (im using ver 1.3.11) it will show red triangle in right panel if you are missing some master files (mods) cos missing masters(required mods) is usually a source of game start CTD's. Try to use ENBoost (not ENB for better visual) it helps Skyrim to use more memory (Skyrim engine has limitations on memory usage). Maybe you have too many animations too, try to use FNIS XXXXL (or how its called). And maybe you have way too many heave scripted mods and game engine just cant handle all of them, try to enable maybe 5-10 mods at a time to check can you atleast start a game, but again with alot of heavy scripted mods you will have problems with stability while playing. Crash fixes can help with stability.
jfraser Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 what he said. that was going to be the next thing i suggested. follow this: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50244
Arcturus7777 Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 I have this exact same problem. I have run loot and tesedit and wyrebash, none of them see any problems. the game starts fine, I just can not start a new game or load an old game. The game tries to load them, not an instant CTD, but in the end CTD. It will run with skse and enb, and a few mods. but when I get past 60 mods, it starts, sometimes sooner. These are all mods that I have installed before and were working. nothing new, except updates. , but it crashes before I even add the updated mods.

The last person I helped with this problem had over a hundred mods. When you suggest removing them one-by-one they tend to get a "glazed over" look in their eyes. So, my suggestion was, and is, eliminate all your mods except the ten to twelve you can't live without. Run LOOT and FNIS. Your problem will probably be gone. Add 8-10 mods back. Run LOOT and FNIS. Try it again. Eventually you will find the group that crashes your game. Remove them and LOAD THEM BACK ON-BY-ONE. Make certain that you run LOOT and FNIS every time even if you do not think that makes a difference with the mod(s) you are loading. It took the last person who took this advice between 1-2 hours to find the offending mod and identify the missing prerequisite. Everyone I know has gone through this at least once (even the ones who don't want to admit to it). Don't feel bad about yourself or picked on. Just hunker down and cruch the numbers (errr...I mean mods). ?

I add mods, 3 at a time. once I start having problems, no load or new game will load. even after uninstalling the last 3 installed mods. I have 3200 hours of game play. IT is not the mods, it is something else. skyrim performance monitor, says with 153 plugsin installed. (this was a test to see if I installed everything the game would work, one of the 6 tries.) anyway the monitor shows, I am not running out of memory or anything, max 40 percent of cpu used.
Arcturus7777 Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 I uninstalled fnisxxl, installed regualar FNIS, and 2400 less animations. loaded new game testing to see if keeps working.
arc12 Posted July 2, 2018 Author Posted July 2, 2018 So, I made some progress myself. Decided to go with just going down the list the old fashion way because I couldn't get Mod Organizer to work and the Skyrim optimizer guide was just too much digging into the actual mechanics of the files and messing with the numbers. I didn't trust myself to do the numbers thing right. In any case, I unsubscribed to all the Steam Workshop mods to have a clean slate, but, after wrestling with FNIS XXL a bit (for some reason the .xml files were being denied and I had to download the creature pack over and over again until it worked), I found that for whatever reason FB SLAL (or FunnyBiz's SLAL Pack) was causing a good chunk of the crashes. I downloaded Load Game CTD, ENBoost, Memory Patch, and Crash fix but that didn't seem to help. The newest version of the animation pack t-poses the character and the old version just CTD's as soon as you start a new game. I think I just have too many animations, maybe, somehow around " 9126 animations for 36 mods (character)" and "3802 animations for 11 mods and 43 creatures" (which is funny because I swear I get the same two or three animations over and over). It might be because a lot of these mods now have their own custom animations, which would just compound the issue. I might have to go through and get rid of some. Also, FB SLAL might be conflicting with SL Defeat and thus Devious Captures which depends on Defeat. But when I got rid of those two the game crashed anyway and FNIS was complaining about not having "defeat_behavior" or something, like it couldn't access the file it wanted, even though the file was there. When I attempted to load the game with out them, the character was t posed. And then I still have to go through and see if any of the Steam Workshop mods had a hand in this train wreck. But I'm saving that for later, I've already wasted half a day on this mess.
jfraser Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 I feel you. I spent the entire weekend installing the game and setting up my 114 mods just to get my own CTD. So then I had to follow my own advice. But, after uninstalling all the mods and then the game and then re-re-installing the game and the most basic mods, I have discovered that the issue appears to be either windows or my (four month old) video card because I'm getting the message "Skyrim does not have permission to access the video hardware". I tested a different game and got the same error. Stupid computers. Wasted my entire weekend.
jfraser Posted July 2, 2018 Posted July 2, 2018 Also, I don't recommend using steam mods but I assume you have used them in the past with no issues.
