Should I buy The Sims 4?

Si I'd like to play this game and make myself some sexy character, but HOLY HECK this game has a lot of expensive DLC. Is the game worth buying, are all the DLCs worth buying? Thanks.

PS: Do you know of a good female muscle mod for this game?

The game vanilla to me is pretty bare-bones without the help of a few well made mods and a couple of the "Expansions". But, the "stuff packs" and the larger add-ons are horrifically overpriced for what they are. I'd steer clear of Pets unless you just want some twitchy cats hopping on the counters and no means to readily control them. City Living is Good for the environment it offers imo, but the neighbors can be a bit of a thorn in your side at times along with some buggy behaviors (In my experience). Get to Work is really just if you want to follow one of the household sims around at the choice of three careers. That can be tedious after a while to say the least. Clubs is great if you want orgies or power-leveling skills, nuff said.

Other than that I can't think of much other than if you can justify the expense of all those add-ons, have at it. Most of the DLC's were lackluster to me.

Hmm, need a bit more information there. Have you played Sims before? What interest you about this game that you might consider buying it? If it is just the sex mods that you see here that peaked your interest, there is many other better outlets for that than buying a whole new game lol.

But I guess it all depends on what you are looking for exactly. It's hard to really tell you if you should buy it or not, as I'm not sure if you've played any Sims game or not, so I don't know what opinion to give you based off that lol.

As for the pricing, yeah it's tough for those coming into the game late. I was lucky as I got the game before it came out, and then just picked up the DLC over time as it arrived. But for those just coming to the game, yeah it's an investment. Good thing there is bundles you can get now, and they do have sales every now and then on things to make it easier for newer players.

But I think a bit more information might help from ya so we can give you some better opinions. Sims is a life simulator, slow paced game to relax to and create stories. If you're the creative type, it's a great outlet for your inner architect or fashionista. If you're a roleplayer, it's great for making stories as well. Though it is not an action game or strategy game.

Well, first of all, no, I haven't played any Sims game ever. Secondly, what I'm looking for is a bit of everything: I want a bit of muscle girl roleplay (starting as scrawny and building up to bodybuilder), to make a nice house, have a nice job, a nice car (VERY important), and maybe a dog. I've heard some people recommend Sims 3 instead (which also has a plethora of DLCs).

I would seriously suggest getting Sims 3 instead if that's what you want from the game. It has a lot more content in the base game and DLCs, not the poor watered down efforts they made for 4. You can pick up the DLC in Steam sales (I got over £100 in DLC for £19) or from cheap keys. It sounds like you're not really interested in a sex mod but it's a choice between Kinky World or Passion.

I mean, I don't mind a sex mod (if I can get lesbian domination then Oh boy!),but yeah, roleplay before anything.

Sims 3 vs Sims 4, your choice really. I personally prefer Sims 4 as it is active and isn't an unstable mess, but everyone has their favorites.

Sims 3 is open world, meaning you see the entire world you live in all at once. It is done, no more updates or dlc/store content coming for it anymore so it is a complete game. But the prices haven't really dropped and there is no complete collection for it either, so it is going to be pretty expensive as well to get. As well, Sims 3 is very unstable and buggy. With all those expansions and bugs not being fixed, it bogged that game down and they just left it in an unstable state. You have to rely on mods to make the game playable, but even then it still has it's hiccups.

Sims 4 is more like Sims 2 when it comes to the worlds. It's not open world, you are just on your lot only unless you travel to other lots. It is currently being actively developed though, so there is more content coming and updates and bug fixes constantly to keep it healthy. It is a very stable game. It also comes with a nifty Gallery that allows players to share Sims and Lots right there in game so if you don't feel like building/creating a Sim, you can easily just open the gallery in game and get a house or sim any time. The emotion system is more fleshed out making your Sims "feel more alive" than they do in Sims 3. Plus if you're a roleplayer and enjoy families, Toddlers are much better in Sims 4.

Mod wise, they are both pretty even for mods right now. There is still mods coming for Sims 3, though not as much anymore, as most are working on Sims 4 now. I find the quality of mods to be better in Sims 4 than Sims 3 though. Dogs are in both games, so you're set there. Muscle sliders are in both games and have definition as well (default feature). Plenty of jobs to choose from in both games, as well as interactive careers where you actually get to go to work and do your job (Get to Work expansion). I can't remember if Sims 3 has that though, I thought they kind of did with like Firefighter and stuff. Sims 3 has what Vengeance listed above for sex stuff, while Sims 4 has WickedWhims. They can both satisfy your lesbian domination needs as they are both pretty well done.

As for cars, Sims 3 has actual ownable driveable (well, it's just fast travel but you watch) cars. Sims 4 doesn't have cars by default, but there is plenty of mods that have cars and interactions with cars as well to help fill that gap.

Overall, it's really up to you. Those are my thoughts on both games, but it's hard to recommend Sims 3 to a new player for me as it is just so unstable lol. You'll be spending a lot of time learning how to mod that game to make it playable before you even get to actually play it, unlike Sims 4 where you just hop right in and it just works (insert Todd Howard).

But as a new player, with your first Sims game, I'd suggest going for Sims 4. Start in the new and shiny instead of the old and broken. ?

EDIT: As for expansion recommendations, well if you want a dog, Cats & Dogs to start. Get to Work if you want some fun interactive careers. Seasons is coming up so if you want some nice weather variety, check that out. Vampires if you want... well... vampires. If you like going on vacations or want some fun puzzles to solve, Jungle Adventure is awesome. The rest is good too, but those are some picks to get you started.

Oh man that was just gorgeus, I think I'll go with 4 then.

PS: Don't care about toddlers, I hate children.

PS 2: Now that I remember, I DID play the first Sims game, but very very briefly so it doesn't really count.

Try Simshenko for Sims 4.  He has 5 different presets.  From a little more muscle to "your Sim needs therapy for their steroid addiction".   It works on women and men.  It also works with Savestate - DLC werewolves and were felines.  You can only use one preset at a time.
