A Coldharbour Bedtime Story
From the Book Of Suffering:
There came a day when the Lord Hircine invited Molag Bal to walk with him in the Hunting Grounds. And Hircine led Molag Bal to a high cliff overlooking the forest and spoke to him thusly:
"You who call your yourself the Lord of Domination, behold my Realm! There is nothing in the land below that runs or eats or fucks but that it is subject to my will. There is nothing that is not Prey. Can you deny that I am Master here?"
Lord Bal looked upon the Hunting Grounds with Hate, and considered how best to reply:
"Master you may be, but only becuase your prey is weak and feeble. In Coldharbour they are made of sterner stuff. I would wager that there are naked slave girls in my realm that would be sufficient to outwit you and your wolves."
Hircine was displeased by this.
"Think you so? You would dare to wager against me on a hunt? Here of all places?"
Molag Bal responded by saying:
"I would dare this and more. Why I wager they could do this even with both hands tied behind their back"
Lord Hircine glowered, and his antlers seemed to grow larger upon his head.
"Then bring on your slave girls! Let it be as you say. They will run through my realm and my Wolves will hunt them. And when the day is done, one of us shall know Humilation, and one of us shall be Master!"
"It shall be so" agreed Molag Bal.
So it was that, not long afterwards Molag Bal returned to the Hunting Grounds with a dozen slaves, naked and caged and with hands bound. Clavicus Vile, who had agreed to act as adjudicator explained the terms of the contest.
"The cages will open on my command. Once the slaves have proper head start, the wolves may begin to hunt. If the slaves escape Lord Hircine's Realm they may go free. Are these the terms you have agreed?"
Both Princes agreed that this was so.
"Then open the cages and let the hunt begin!"
The slaves ran and, after a while, Lord Vile declared that the wolves could give chase. And Hircine laughed and spoke to Molag Bal.
"You are a fool, Lord Bal. This is MY realm, and none can come or go from this place save by my will. How then do you imagine your slaves can win their freedom?"
Clavicus Vile was delighted
"Oh ho! Did someone agree to a carelessly worded deal? I knew this would be good sport!"
But Molag Bal was serene within his Hate and merely gestured to the forest below. Following his gesture, the princes saw that four of Molag Bal's slaves had slipped their bonds and joined forces to ambush their hunters. They fell upon the wolves and beat them with rocks and branches and forced them to submit.
Now Molag Bal did address Hircine:
"Tell me oh Prince, how will your hunters triumph when all of your wolves are the slaves of slaves?"
Hircine grew wrothful once again, and threw back his head and howled a great Howl. And his wolves heard the Howl and drew strength from it. Thus strengthened they easily caught the remaining slaves and knocked them to the ground.
"You are clever, Molag Bal, but not clever enough. You have four of my wolves, but twice that number now feel a hunter's jaws around their necks. This contest is mine!"
But Molag Bal disagreed.
"This contest was to prove who is Master. You may have caught up with my slaves, but you have yet to master them. Why some of the sluts seem even be enjoying themselves."
And so Hircine grew more wrothful still, and howled another great Howl. And this Howl filled his wolves with unnatural lusts so that they fell upon the slaves and filled their bellies with the seed of the Wolf. And the slaves were ravished again and again until finally they all begged for mercy and swore fealty to Hircine.
Now Hircine again addressed Molag Bal.
"Your slaves have submitted to me. Are you satisfied now, Lord Bal?"
And Molag Bal laughed greatly and responded:
"Satisfied? I am DELIGHTED!"
"When my slaves forced your hunters to their will, that honoured me, for I am the Prince of Domination. And when your wolves dominated my slaves, that also honoured me, for I care not one whit for who dominates and who submits, only that there is Dominion!"
"And when you bade your hunters violate my slaves, that honoured me most of all. For I am the Lord of Rape and this act is sacred to me above all others."
"You have won nothing here, Lord Hircine. You have defiled your own Hunting Grounds and turned them into a shrine to my glory. Do you still dare to name yourself Master here?"
Hircine stamped his foot and waved his arms in the air and his antlers grew foot in length and sparks flew between them.
"This has no relevance! None of the slaves won their freedom! Most of them have sworn to serve me! I am clearly the victor!"
But Molag Bal was serene within his hate and answered calmly:
"What does that matter to me? Slaves are slaves and because they are slaves they deserve to be slaves. Their freedom would be most repugnant to me. Thus you see that in this also you have done only my will."
Then Hircine turned to Clavicus Vile, but the Lord of Deals was unsympathetic:
"Ah-ah-ah! He's got you there, Hircine. The terms of the deal was that one would know Humiliation and one would be Master. And a dozen naked slavgirls - this just gets better and better - was all he needed to outwit you, just like he said! Seems YOU were the one who should have paid better attention, after all!"
Clavicus Vile whooped and capered in glee, while Molag Bal remained (as ever) serene within his Hate. And then Hircine did indeed know Humiliation. And he bade the other Princes leave his realm that he might nurse his shame alone.
Coda
Three things shall ye know from this.
First, know that those wolves who agreed to be the slaves of slaves left with Lord Bal and his party and in time became the first dogs. Clavicus Vile was greatly taken with the creatures and took one to be his companion.
Second, know also that the slaves that declared fealty to Hircine remained within the Hunting Grounds. In time the seed within them quickened and they gave birth. But the children sprang from the seed of wolves and they became the first werewolves. Those who worship Hircine will tell a different story, but know you that they LIE.
Finally know that, in time, Molag Bal returned to Hircine to claim a boon for winning their wager. But that is a story for another day...
