The Alpha and the Omega (Shadow Over Solstheim - Part 7 FINAL)
It's been more than a month since I last updated this one, but I promised I'd finish it and here it is.
It's the conclusion to one of my main characters' journey through the Dragonborn DLC which has to be my favorite vanilla quest. So in a manner of speaking, it's been somewhat of a narratively edited "Let's Play" where I added some of my own edits, twists, dialogue and mostly mods in order to show a vision of how this tale shoul've played out in my head.
It's also been a journey for me since I always enjoyed doing stories and seing other people's stories as well, but I didn't have some of the resources and knowledge I have now when I first started doing these.
Anyway, this one is part of my collection of SFW stories, so dont expect lewds in this, only comfy gameplay and adventure. if you want lewds, you should check out my succubus girl's tale at the other section in the story catalogue.

Last time we left our brave sorceress, she ended up entering a strange realm where the Prince of Knowledge tested her and her Daedric other half to survive his domains. By the time both of them passed his test, the Prince had a proposition but no one was going to like it.
So lets get on with the final chapter of this one:
Episode 7 - The Alpha and the Omega
"I have to do it. For my people, and my daughter"
FATHER NO!!
"Go... Just go... Come back and tell me his sacrifice was not for nothing. Tell me that because of him, our people is free..."
"GO!!!"
The words in the wall, echoed in Amy's mind, telling her the story of the First Dragonborn. He who had been forgotten. The one that never died, but always waited.
MUL QAH DIIV
Miraak, the First of the Dragon Priests, once consumed by his lust for power, then bound to serve the Prince of Knowledge for eternity.
He was betrayed by his dragon masters as he betrayed them. In that betrayal, he sought to free himself and his people from the tyranny of the dovah but his own soul had become corrupted and bound in servitude to a new master.
The lost verses of the original chanting were written on this wall:
"Here in his temple, here does he lie. And when the wait hath ended, and when he lives again, and when mortal men remember, their world shall cease to be."
It was in these words that the elven sorceress discovered a hidden meaning, and most importantly something to use against Miraak.
*From this point on, optional music:
GOL HAD DOV!
"Your Will is strong, Dovahkiin. I will take you to him"
"Miraak is strong, he knows you were coming"
"He also knows of your other half, and he has plans for her"
"He once sought power, but now his Will desires a different thing"
"Freedom"
"When you meet him, he will try to control you, but your Will must not fade. The fate of Mer and Dovah, rests upon you, Dragonborn"
"At last. the Fisrt Dragonborn, meets the Last"
"I've been expecting you. I know about the other one that comes with you"
MUL KAH DIIV!
You will die, and once you do, your other half will be trapped in this realm, and then, her power will be mine.
"Not if we have anything to say about it!"
"You are just a mortal girl, you are no match for my powers here!"
"With the power of your other half, I will finally be strong enough. There will be no more dragons and no more princes, only my own Will"
You shall submit, and I WILL have my freedom!
"Miraak, listen to yourself! You're just as bad as the things you want to destroy!"
"Only power is what matters. If I want to be free, I must take your power as mine!"
"No! it doesnt have to end like this, we can fight him together, you can break your own chains!"
What Amy had learnt from the wall, was that Miraak had been enslaved by the Prince of Knowledge, but what kept him chained wasn't Mora's power, but something else entirely. And if the dragon's words were correct, there was something else that could actually save Miraak and end the prophecy.
"Foolish girl!, did you really think I would fall for that?"
"No, Miraak, please, listen to me... You want to be free but you dont realize you're the one that's keeping you chained to this realm"
...
"Now you're just wasting time before your end"
"It's your own desire for power what Mora used against you. You can be better than this, if you just realize that it's not about power.. it's about freedom!"
"GOL HAD DOV!"
"AAAAAGH!!! What have you done to me?! What is this" This cannot be, I... am the master of my own fate!!"
"Miraak, only you can free yourself."
"You have bested me, Dragonborn... take my power now and perhaps... you can succeed where I failed"
"No, Miraak, you have to live! Live to make sure your life counts as something. Live for your freedom, and others'
"A god may have put as against each other, but we are done being their pawns. No more!"
"You... I..."
"Help me, Miraak"
...
It was in that moment, that the First Dragonborn saw the truth in his rival's words. The only way he could break his chains was to realize that it was his own ambition what had corrupted him and made him a slave. Upon this new realization, the chains that had shackled his soul and his true will were finally broken and Miraak felt like he hadn't felt in a very long time. He was once again, his own man.
"I see your words are as true as your Will"
"You have given me my freedom back, but he will be coming for both of us. We can make our last stand here, Dragonborn, it has been an honor to fight you"
"Dont sound so hopeless, partner, it's not over until it's over"
...
...
"Nice work there, partner! I knew you had it in you"
"Yes... but that was only the beginning. This will never be over, and I... have done so much wrong. You have given me my freedom, and I can never do enough to repay you or fix my own errors."
...
"I meant what I said before. You have to live to fight for what you have regained today. As for Mora... let him come. let all of them come for us. As long as we draw breath we will be free, and they will never control us again, or anyone else if we can do something about it"
With his freedom regained and his mind once again, his own, Miraak went on his own path, where he hoped to recover his lost humanity, and honor the promise to his rival, to live free and to protect freedom from anyone who would do to others what was done to him.
He would have a hard task ahead of him, but his will was strong as was his new resolve.
Back in the Skaal village, Amy was able to keep her own promise to a heartbroken Frea, who still mourned the loss of her father, but could now rest assured that his sacrifice was not in vain.
In Raven Rock, the very air was different, as the curse had been broken, the feeling of heavy opression that was in the air, the constant crushing sensation on everyone's chests and heads was lifted. Most people had no idea what happened, and they kept on going by their daily lives, unaware of the fate that awaited them in the shadows. But for the first time in centuries, they felt lighter.
"Well did you find any treasure at least?"
"Well... I..."
Lydia and Serana were kind of used to teasing Amy about never finding the promised riches she was always looking for inside tombs and adventures. But the truth is, she did rescue something of value. Perhaps not to any of them, but for those who needed it the most.
It was for the people that lived on Solstheim. So that all of them could have a future.
After what they had lost, they deserved an oportunity to live and rebuild.
The stones would lie dormant from now on, and the horrors from the depths would not threaten the peaceful lives of the islanders ever again.

Epilogue:
Heh! Looks like I made it!. One never knows with these portals. Could end up where one wants to, or just as easily in the belly of a sky whale... or a nest of mudcrabs... Horrible creatures!
And there you are, my favorite adventurer trio!
I know I said you could have my... snicker-snackering bread knife for a while but...
I think I'm gonna need it back... something has come up...
Author's notes:
Thank you for scrolling if you made it this far, I hope you enjoyed
Sorry if some parts may beel a bit rushed, but I did my best to put all of this together.
I realize I might be breaking the lore a bit here, but personally I prefer a complex villain with reasons and a past than a twirling moustache one that's evil because evil. (Though I recognize there is a time and place for everything)
Miraak, felt like a character that should have had more depth to me, and while I assume he wants to dominate the world in the original setting, I was curious about his rebellion to dragons. Sounded to me like maybe dragons were tyrants and he may have had a reason to actually rebel against them other than just changing masters. Maybe he just wanted to end their tyranny and got seduced by Mora's corruption which in turn corrupted his own goals. It was curious how it's said those who enter Mora's realm become insane, but he seemed suspiciously sane for someone who's been there thousands of years. Made sense to me that corruption was his insanity. And to be fair, I just empathized with his desire to stop being Mora's pawn, even when playing this as vanilla I wished there was a way to join him or make him join the player. Mora was the true evil in the original tale, he fucked the Skaal, he fucked Miraak and he wanted to fuck the player too with tempting promises that only end up in one becoming a seeker or something. It's about time someone stands up to them.
Anyway. Didn't have much time or space to put all of that as screenshots, since maybe i could've recreated a flashback of Miraak during the dragon age, but that was too complicated and I just wanted a simple "lets play" with some fancy ornaments.
Let me know if you have any thoughts, anything could be helpful since I'd like to make more of these, possibly for other characters as well since all their lore just mingles together and grows.
I think I'll focus more on original tales from now on since adapting vanilla content poses the extra challenge that any addition has to make sense with the rest of the quest and that doesnt allow for much mobility all the time, or perhaps it's simpler to just put it as it is, but that's not very original now is it?
