Might get me banned but I don't really care. Why almost no non-Chinese know of this mod? FreeMem 1.2

Disclaimer: This mod is absolutely NOT from me. I just wanna share the info so its popularity can grow more.

The title said it all. All this mod does is clean your memory in these case:

1. Reach a critical point (Not really necessary now that we have ENBoost & SSME).

2. Clean mem after n minutes.

2. Start/Reload a game.

3. Enter new cell.

Download Instruction:

-Using the Baidu link, you can access the author's folder (yes that guy is the author of the mod).

-Scroll down a bit to find Free Mem 1.2.

-Click the box to check it, hover a bit to the right to see 2 symbols

-Click the one with an arrow down to download.

To disable clear mem at x MB: set it to 0 (Strongly recommended when using along with SSME/Sheson's patch)

There is a description in English at the end of the original post + the download link. You can't miss that.

I also attached a very crude translation of the MCM UI, replace the one in \steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\data\interface\translations

P/s: If I get banned because there is a policy for hotlinking another forum, I will fully accept the consequences.

Have a nice day, gentlemen!

P/s: Translation has been revised. Hope it is clearer for you guys now.

P/s 2: added download instruction. revised translation again. added instruction to disable clearing memory when reaching a certain usage (recommend you disable this feature and get SSME instead)

Would be nice if you can leave feedbacks. I chose a pretty terrible topic name, thus the topic is slowly fading to oblivion.

Q&A (I would love to grow this section, so ask if you want)

I haven't yet jumped into the whole SSME / CleanMem thing yet.  Been putting it off.  And now this comes along, adding further options and further confusion.  One thing I'd definitely like some clarity on: Do any of these three things have any bearing on Sheson's Skyrim Memory Patch?  From what I could tell, said patch (which is brand spanking new) was shaping up to be the end-all patch for Skyrim stability.

Would a combination of two or more of these four (!) different mods be in order?

Answer: Well, allow me to clarify :) (of course, my knowledge is limited. If anyone wanna add in, feel free to).

Sheson's Skyrim Memory Patch modify skse_steam_loader.dll to give more memory for stuffs to load in Skyrim (1st memory block doubled). There is also a universal version with a mempatch.dll that allow you to set the block sizes using skse.ini.

SSME was released since the author didn't like his skse to be changed, so he created a wrapper version for it using d3d9_46.dll that can be set via skse.ini. Basically, it's the same with Sheson's patch in term of functionality.

Cleanmem is a third party background program that clear your memory (mostly RAM) after a certain time or when the limit is reached. (And I have no idea why the game doesn't do it properly...)

Freemem is a mod  that is very similar to Cleanmem because it does have the two functions that Cleanmem has, but the other two functions make me think it's valuable to share: Clear On Startup, and Clear On CellLoad. I don't think these features are found in the above mods/programs.

tl;dr

Sheson's patch and SSME gives more memory for scripts/textures. One modify skse dll, the other one uses wrapper.

Cleanmem and Freemem clear memory, though Freemem can clear on startup/reload and on cell load (which Cleanmem doesn't do)

In theory, they should have no conflict. I'm using SSME and Freemem at the moment. So far, I see no negative thing about this combination.

If anyone can give more insights into this, please do.

P/s: Sheson's has two .dll files and one .ini file, SSME and Freemem both have 1 .dll and 1 .ini, Cleanmem is a program. So there is no overwriting, but don't use all four together. Use one for more memory allocation, and one for memory clearance. Thus, you have 4 options:

1. Sheson + Cleanmem

2. Sheson + Freemem

3. SSME + Cleanmem

4. SSME + Freemem

But beware, you need a clean save everytime you uninstall one of these four mods. (no need for installing)

Posting a link to another modding website won't get you banned as long as the content doesn't violates our community's rules, especially #3 and #12:

3.: We may be an adult oriented community, but don't be stupid, don't post anything blatantly illegal. Meaning no illegal torrents, charging money for mods, child pornography (including prepubescent shota or loli content in a sexual context), and other such illegal content. If you find yourself asking, "Should I post this questionably legal content?" The answer is No.

12.: We are a free and open community; members requiring payment for mods, support, or putting anything behind a paywall will be removed without warning. Donation buttons/links to support an author is fine, so long as nothing is promised, given, or rewarded other than a sense of satisfaction for supporting an author or owner of content.

So don't worry about that.

How does this mod work for you asenasen? I'm using Cleanmem, but I know the use of third party software+Skyrim is a nasty cocktail.

I heard from the Chinese community that this has been their fix for scripts related CTDs (only script overloading, not script conflicts) for a while before SSME comes out. No idea why they didn't share it. Anyway, this shares the same premise with cleanmem, but it applies only to Skyrim. In my opinion, it could be safer than Cleanmem. As for the performance, I believe that my gameplay has been smoother (although if you manually clear your memory, the loading time when you enter the next location will be longer), and, so far, there is no conflict between this and SSME. The reason this mod is good in my eyes is because it clear up memory after you enter a location, so if you enter an interior cell, the exterior will be cleaned, which can reduce RAM usage and smooth gameplay. Just my 2 cents, test it out but don't save game if you don't find it satisfying. it does contain a few scripts.

Chinese people rarely share MODs website in foreign countries.

I can't figure out which one is the right thing to click on. Google will only translate so much

If you're talking about downloading FreeMem, I believe you just click on the baidu download link he has and scroll down to FreeMem, check the box and then click the button a bit to the right of it with the arrow pointing down for download.

You shouldn't have to translate anything. ...But I may not know what I'm talking about lol.

The attached file at bottom of op.  It kept saying, "Error, file not found." fixed after i rebooted my pc.

Ah I'm relieved to know it works for you now :).

I'm using an older variant of SMME and CleanMem. Isn't this basically the same thing as CleanMem? Where it just cleans the RAM after a set period of time?

Yes and no. Yes, it shares the same premise with CleanMem as I mentioned earlier, but no, it is not entirely identical. I believe CleanMem doesn't have clean on startup or clean on cell load. Besides, running memory clearing as a mod is safer than as a third party background program. Of course, these are just my opinions.

CleanMem has you set up the intervals in which it dumps/cleans RAM. I have it set for every 15 minutes, but you can set it for nearly time interval. But between that and SMME I haven't crashed in some time (besides when I found a bad glitch in a mod, and I fixed that with some creative deleting ).

Having it dump/clean when changing cells should be nice, though. I might give it a try. The first time I tried checking it out I had a hell of a time getting it. I translated the page, but it seemed as though it broke the download links in the translation or something. And I can't read a single bit of Chinese.

Now for the real question:

Why is this in the Adult Mods section instead of the Non-Adult Section or even better the General Section?

BTW: Thank you asenasen for the links, I will most definitely try this out and see if it helps me out :)

Also, I dunno why the only alternative link was uploaded to turbobit, that place is singlehandedly the most frustrating place to download from (even more so than the chinese place)

Here's another link (MF) that also contains the updated English Translation asenasen:

I claim that I do not own/edit anything in the mod and that it remains rightfully the property of original author's <Insert Chinese mod authors name here>  and asenasen's work.

(feel free to add to OP if you want or mirror it)

OK, so I just manually installed (maybe should've put it in with MO, but can later if I feel like it). And I disabled CleanMem for now. So when I next play I can give it a run and see how it works for me.

Being on a weak machine I look for any performance improvement I can find, and dumping RAM seems to smooth out gameplay a lot for me.
