Frostbite Spider Dies Instantly in Bleak Falls Barrow

[unpronounceable]

It just comes down from the ceiling and crumples upon hitting the floor.
I tried disabling my mods but unfortunately, the removal of some of them causes the game to crash.

 

I tried attacking it with spells and the amount of health it has is normal.

It just dies for some reason when it touches the floor.

I've just had a do with a mechanical dragon outside Mzulft. I didn't know it was there until it fell out of the sky and hit the ground right in front of me. It was definitely a fall and not a landing. It was still alive but it didn't seem to do much by way of defending itself.

Yep, I've seen it.   It seems like it's taking fall damage.  Nothing else does this that I've seen (although haven't done a full play-through in a while).  The only things I have installed that I know touch the spiders is More Nasty Creatures and possibly USLEEP.  Doubt it's the physics from realistic ragdols - have had that installed for years but never had the spider issue until recently (last 6 months or so).  Sometime it dies, sometimes it's just damaged, then 1-2 hits finishes it.

I can concurr on the MNC idea. I've had that spider start dying on me as well, though sometimes it doesn't completely die, but land at very low health. I do have some falling damage tweaks for NPCs and at other times have gone through at quite a high level if I did a lot of other things first, which might increase its HP.

I've had the opposite problem with Nimhe(?) in Markarth in the last few plays. She stays up in the ceiling and only drops when killed. Maybe I'm not going far enough into the room?

I update manually so nothing snuck in via USLEEP, though I should probably check and get patches

 

I have had no-drop issues with other spiders as well, might be a trigger box issue but getting shot always does bring them down.

It is both an MNC issue and a trigger box issue.   MNC changes the height of the race to 1.0 (base game is 1.9).  That causes something to happen in the trigger box as the spider drops down.  Resizing the spider race back to at least 1.4 eliminates the problem.  I remember seeing something somewhere about this and my own testing has confirmed.
