AgentCarolina Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Okay, the title doesn't fully make sense but. I use the Mercenary mod which has these neat beanies that you can wear. They even have avers that works with hair, but I want the beanie to be a bit higher up and more towards the backof the head. Would I be able to use Nifskope to change it or would I need to use a different program? Like how this mod has their characters in the screenshot
myuhinny Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 It is better to use a 3d tool like blender - 3d max or you can use outfit studios to move and rotate stuff instead of using nifskope as it can mess up it's rigging if you move something too far in nifskope and in game the item will appear in the wrong place or it won't appear at all.

OOO I can use outfit studio? Do you know what I would have to do?
AWP3RATOR Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 You can absolutely use Outfit Studio for this. You can also use outfit studio to handle more than just clothing - i.e. static game nifs (like clutter, etc.) but that's a different topic Point, is it's not just limited to body outfits. (full disclosure, I usually use 3DS Max for this, as the toolset is much broader for fine adjustment) When editing head items in OS, it's a good idea to import the head of the character, as you would a reference body. You can pull this in from ..\data\meshes\actors\character\character assets\BaseMaleHead.nif and MaleHeadRear.nif (or female versions) You can also pull in a hair style if you like from the ..\Hair\Male (or female) folders. You should not need to set this to a reference, but don't forget to remove it when exporting the NIF. Then import the hat item you would like to reposition. This is what I get when I import those items and the Mercenary ski hat. Note the head is way below the hat itself - this is common with head meshes and is due to how it was rigged. Move the head pieces UP (z axis) 120 units to the hat. Don't move the hat down. so it looks like this: Now you, can you use any tools in OS's toolset to adjust the position, shape, etc. of the hat. When y ou get something you like, delete the imported head references and export your hat as a NIF, overwriting the original. Something like: (rotated back and repositioned to show more forehead)

Guest Posted April 24, 2018 Posted April 24, 2018 Just letting you know there's a faster and more efficient way to do this in outfit studio. Load up the items like predator said but instead of wasting time right clicking each item for moving and rotating and having each window pop up for it, just select the beanie mesh and press the letter F. It will bring up a tool that will allow to move, scale, and rotate at the same time AND allow you to move the space around to view your angles.
