Fallout fans said the same thing when Bethesda got the license for the series' date=' I imagine that EA will do like Bethesda and just ignore the old fanbase.

I'm a huge, huge fallout fan. I've put hundreds on top of hundreds of hours into FO/FO2. I had no problems with Bethesda getting the license for the series, you know why? Because it was interplay that murdered Black Isle. The BIS that gave us such awesome games like IWD, IWD2, PS:Torment. And so on. Hell, when Bioware had problems they ran to BIS for help for BG/BG2. In turn when Obsidian did FO:NV, I was ecstatic, there was the BIS team getting their hands back on their baby.

Hell Chbaakal mentioned EA being scum, well I posted a threat in the gaming thread about Chris Roberts returning to gaming. He's the guy who created ORIGIN studios, who gave us the Wing Commander/Starlancer/Freelancer and so on series. And apparently now, he's about ready to return and start making games, and I'll be honest. With the Firaxas X-Com remake(with half of the staff from the original Micropose team there), it's almost tasting like a new golden age of PC gaming out there.

As for Bethesda: They lied multiple times about FO3 (well oblivion and skyrim too, to be fair) when discussing it with fansites (do they even still dothat anymore lol).

Hard to respect them when tehy have a huge history of lying and dumbing stuff down.

AS for Roberts, well Starlancer/Freelancer both kicked ass (with mods, Freelancer is STILL a great game today) so fuck yes to that fact.

FIFA 13 on PS VITA features 30 leagues' date=' 500 officially licensed teams and 15,000 players all wearing this year’s kits and playing for their current teams. It is the same great FIFA gameplay for the PS VITA, including touch-screen controls, and also features popular modes like Career Mode, Be A Pro, and a deep set of online features. We felt it was important to continue to offer fans the opportunity to play an authentic football experience on PS VITA.

Personally I think the best we can hope for is that in the long run someone does to EA what they do to everyone else, so maybe one day some new Russian or Chinese media giant will do a hostile takeover of EA salvage what can be salvaged, leverage what remains with huge debts, put it into a package with other bits of junk, resell it to some foolish speculators, abscond with the profits and move on.

I fail to see anything shocking here. EA has been doing this kind of thing for years. How many Tiger Woods golf or Madden football versions are there? Each year they add one or two features or just change how some things work and slap a $59 dollar price tag on it. I don't know why anyone is blaming EA for any of this. Let's face it, it is not EA that is the problem but the idiots that continue to buy the crap. If folks stop buying this nonsense then EA will be forced to clean up their act. However, as long as suckers exist, there will be someone who will take them for all they can. This is just life.

Is EA being lazy and stupid - of course they are, no one disputes this (except their own employees of course). But before burning EA at the stake as the root of all that is soulless and wrong, stop and think of how many other companies are just like them. The only answer is to stop supporting the crap they are trying to put out and thereby force them into making fewer but better games. Of course, unless you can convince a huge amount of folks to do it.........

But Deadspace 3 is awesome and I'm rocking/loving the multiplayer feature now that it has been revealed by detail.

EA did not make the games anyway they just publish it.

True. However they have a great deal to do with all games under their umbrella. The do micromanage budgets and based on comments are forcing all their 'in house' companies\departments to include multiplayer....whether multiplayer makes sense for the game or not. Look at the useless POS that ME3's multiplayer is. Some games it makes sense for, others......not so much. :s

The same can be said about Sports Interactive that made the Championship Manager -> Football Manager games. Same crap only a few "new" things added which they later put up for sale at full price. And as you said, there will always be "those" that will buy it, which makes these kind of companies to continue their existence.

I have never purchased an EA game until it was in a bargain bin(Overstock) or at a Fleamarket.

I will never support a company that is like this, and I never will.

It might be a minor point in this discussion, but I do believe it betrays something about the "culture" of EA...

Most publishers and developers allow you to skip their logo by pressing ESC or just any key during game startup. EA does not. A persons or an organizations true nature is often betrayed by the small details. Every time you start up an EA game you are forced to watch their logo... just sayin'...

Activision and Treyarch... (AKA Calls of Duty devs)

"We'll add 2 new multiplayer maps and the rest can be bought in a map pack which half of it is just "ported" from our previous "games"

I don't think anyone has faith in EA anymore, definitely not me after Mass Effect 3. If they fuck up Crysis 3 and Dead Space 3 I don't think I will ever purchase a game from them again.

I still have some faith though, Crysis 3 looks AH-MAY-ZING.

I admit that I enjoyed Crysis 2, sure it wasn't as open ended but it was still fun. Plus the HD texture pack is amazing. Multiplayer isn't too bad either, though their are not nearly enough upgrades.
