GECK.O Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 Lag is mostly because some sims stuck somewhere in the background. Use world fix. It's in modthesims.
maksym.dickson Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 Something useful that could help to improve performance a bit: http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum/index.php?topic=26753.0 Read how to edit GraphicsCards.sgr and GraphicsRules.sgr for your Video Card. By default if video card is not recognized in uses 32MB video memory by the game, but this can be increased up to 2048 by editing above files if your video card allows. Also, nraas Overwatch , Traffic, Register are must-have mods, that help to clear the game from things that impact performance. Even nraas Story progression could help with performance, for example, if you disallow in its settings inactive sims to adopt Pets on their own. Or limit town population, let's say to 100 or less Sims, the game will run smoother. Also, performance could be bad due to many CC. For example, if you use EA way to install CC via launcher and installed a lot of content from EA store and other sites, it may negatively impact game performance due to many small packages. There are ways to overcome this issue by combining small packages into bigger .package files and some advanced folks did it with EA store items, you can Google it "sims 3 complete store" (If you bought the game and Store items, you don't have to suffer from unreasoned EA way to add additional content to your game so it became slow). Also, there is a tool that can switch off/on EA Extension packs without uninstalling them: SimGameSelector. it could improve performance it you switch off some EPs, items/features from which you are not going to use. if you have Sims 3 1.69 from EA Origin, this functionality is included in Launcher, however, recommended Sims 3 version is 1.67 (Steam and stanalone) for full compatibility with old mods.
Moonglade Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 I find playing a small custom-made world has been the best thing to eliminate lag in my game. I use Locust Hills from "My Sim Reality" here : http://socialite-sims.tumblr.com/tagged/download x
Onionstarz Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 I added my graphics card a couple of weeks ago following that guide and since then the game runs better i hardly notice judder now. It was only using about 32 meg out of 6GB vram.
jubileejones Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 bluegenjutsu's no route fail and no foot tapping helps out a lot. Also Twoftmama's route fix. You need an account at Naughty Sim's Asylum to get them though.

Actually the reason 1.67 is recommended is that the new launcher will untick EP's and SP's your using forcing you to have to check to make sure it doesn't untick any every single time before you load the game otherwise you can fuck up your save if you load it without an EP or SP that was being used. As for compatibility with old mods any script and/or tuning mod that worked with 1.66, 1.67 will work with 1.69 as there was virtually no difference between them. Core mods are the only exception as those are patch level specific. 1.66 was the last real patch that had bug fixes and changed gameplay files. 1.67 only added Server Messaging (Spyware) and never touched any gameplay files so it was merely cosmetic and useless. 1.69 added that crappy new launcher permanently tied the game to Origin but it also removed the Server Messaging but it too never touched any gameplay files so it's also cosmetic and useless. Unless a patch touches gameplay files it is irrelevant.
maksym.dickson Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 1.69 also could break compatibility with Sims 3 utilities which are no longer being maintained by creators. Prevents the "Save Cleaner" and "Easy CASP Editor" programs by Kuree from working with the game. Breaks the Crash Log Analyzer (CLA). More info: http://nraas.wikispaces.com/Patch+1.69

More info: http://nraas.wikispaces.com/Patch+1.69 Unless they can find a Pre-2012 Base Game disc and go to an all disc install EasyCASP would be irrelevant as it doesn't work with Steam's version of The Sims 3 either. Save Cleaner might work with Steam but I don't know anyone on Steam that uses it. Besides you can always use the S3pe method if it doesn't work with Steam http://nraas.wikispaces.com/How+to+use+S3PE+to+clean+up+your+save-game And Crash Log Analyzer was updated for 1.69 http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=416883 Post #2240 in the comments section.
landess Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 So many ways you can 'wreck' your sims are addressed above. I was a victim of 'old' CC I had installed using the sim3packs/launcher which I neglected to address since so many in my archive didn't have names, but only #'s. Then I found this valuable info on the Nraas site which I also archived. Placing it here for quick reference. Sims3 Launcher CC removal instructions.txt
