Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 It's because the bulk of Apple is made up of self entitled assholes who may, in fact, actually believe that they're inventing the various things that they've "made popular". It doesn't help that they're supported by some of the most insane fanboys on the planet who willingly hype shit up to the point where, reality be damned, Apple is always right and has invented everything. I'm surprised Apple and its fanboys didn't claim to have invented the written word when the iPad came out and people saw that you COULD TYPE THINGS.
gregathit Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Apple has had a chip on its shoulder since Bill Gates made microsoft and it whooped the crap out of apple in the PC market. Never mind the fact that microsoft made huge contributions to apple year after year to keep them in business to help fragment the non-windows user market (like Linux). That chip on their shoulder has now found a new target in the android market. Androids are starting to win the smart phone market war and apple is facing the fact that they could loose for the 2nd time. Sure they are pissed, but it is because of their own business choices (and the lack of user choices with apple apps and plugins). Samsung has appealed the case and if the evidence is flawed then you will see it get overturned. Impartial jury's are just part of life. As they say...shit happens.

RandomOne Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 I love my galaxy S2, but I'm sooo lusting after a Galaxy S3, sigh, and so it goes...
jiro Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 I love my galaxy S2' date=' but I'm sooo lusting after a Galaxy S3, sigh, and so it goes... [/quote'] the S3 is great. there are a few issues i have it like the thickness of the phone itself which i fixed by getting a case for it and the placement of the lock button other there that its a good phone.
sora3 Posted August 29, 2012 Posted August 29, 2012 My parents did ask me if I wanted to upgrade to the S3 but I decided not to since the S2 does everything I need and more. In any case, Samsung would either appeal the decision (easily the best decision for them given how the evidence Apple gave has been quite circumstantial and perhaps the judge presiding the trial was blatantly pro-Apple) or cop the fine outright to just settle. But I doubt Apple will settle on just the fine but also confiscate all IP Samsung has. In my opinion, Samsung has more than enough evidence to kick Apple back in the daddy bags. And given how users are jumping on Android faster than the iPhone, it'll take more than taking out Samsung or Android for Apple to deny free-choice.
TheoryoftheDead Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I really don't care to be perfectly honest. The phone I use is probably well over 10 years now - and have never had any hassle whatsoever with it(And it's not manufactured by neither Samsung nor Apple). Just for the arguement's sake I'll throw my vote with Samsung though - Call it prejudice towards apple.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I don't have a smart phone either; it makes phone calls and has a camera that I never use. Speaking of that, I never do use the thing, but if I were, it would be to MAKE A PHONE CALL.
thesapien Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 I don't currently have a cell phone or landline phone. It's either email/mail or the old fashioned knocking on my door. Just the way I like it for now.
Guest Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Well guys, the asshats over at apple have won yet another case. This time with Motorola. Will they ever stop?
ElvenScoundrel Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Wait, Apple sued Motorola for that stupid little shitty visual effect? Really?! Jeez, no fucking shame at all. Seems they'll sue anyone for anything these days.
NothingReally Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Rename this thread "Apple are assholes. Agree here". People always seem to resort to technicalities. The point of Apple stuff is not technicalities, as most of their groundbreaking ideas actually came from other sources, but overall experience. I got [access to] a quadra 630 back in the early 90s as a kid, and had PCs at school. Used both a lot. Hated windows. Why? Because it felt like awkward annoying crap that kept crashing and forcing you to do things. The fact that it had games I couldn't get just made me even more annoyed because I didn't want to have to use them. Mac OS felt like home, felt like it knew what I wanted to do and did it without fuss. Now? I have an iMac running OSX and Windows, and tbh I spend most of my time running windows. Why? Because Win 7 took a LOT of cues from OSX [whether original to Apple or not] to the point where it actually feels like a pretty comfortable computer environment. Add to that the massive availability of software, esp. games and you have a really good system, hampered only by the hardware limitations of a beautiful, expensive system that can't be upgraded. But even now, when I boot into OSX it feels like a relief, because it's still more comfortable, intuitive and feels like 'home'. I also have a Sam Galaxy S2, and whilst it does everything I need and gives me no trouble, it feels like a shitty plastic box with a load of unfinished software in my pocket. I just can't love it. Apple just make things feel better subjectively to a lot of people (probably no one in this thread, but hey, look at the sales figures), even if that's an illusion. However, my next computer will be a PC, simply because I have had a look at the hardware costs vs. performance and seen that for a comparable mac you will need to pay 3-5x as much as for a windows PC. The only mac system with any real grunt is a high end mac pro, and to afford one of those you need to sell your soul to the bank. They are still beautiful, comfortable and the only systems which to me feel really valuable and worthy when you use one - I would never swap my iPad for any other tablet - but macs themselves are just not worth it. Kind of like an Aston Martin, other brands may outperform them on every criterion, but to some people they still just feel so much cooler. The lesson? Windows has learned a lot from OSX, and Android has learned a lot from iOS. Both are now in nearly every objective measure better than anything Apple makes. Now Apple needs to learn from both of those two and start making compatible, upgradeable shiny boxes, or risk being sidelined again. P.S.: trying to make Apple seem evil? Well, they are. But so are all of their competitors. That's consumer capitalism and litigation for you. Like trying to find an honest man in government.
Kamen Rider Kuuga Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 If Apple imploded tomorrow, would anybody beyond hipsters really care?
gregathit Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 If Apple imploded tomorrow' date=' would anybody beyond hipsters really care? [/quote'] ROFL!!! Well....my dad would have a fit. He is a die hard mac user. I have been working on him for nearly two decades to get him to switch, but have not yet succeeded.....

They would have to be off their rockers to toss out a billion bucks (in pennies or otherwise) without filing appeals until they ran out of them.....

Guest Posted September 25, 2012 Posted September 25, 2012 I own an Iphone and I am in full support of Motorola. Apple needs to feel the pain for once. I probably will get rid of my iphone and get a different. smart phone.
