Review

Game play
Based around the style of Grand Theft Auto allow users to kill unarmed civilians and run them down with cars. Every now and then your party will be given a mission to complete against the rival faction which will assign a team to try and defeat you. Parties are made up of random ranked members which in some cases is extremely bad if you become outgunned or outnumbered.

Graphics
APB uses the Unreal 3 Engine, the graphics are ideal for the type of game but are limited. The game seems to use graphics which can be compared to Grand Theft Auto even though the Unreal Engine can support more powerful rendering.

Audio
APBR uses most of the music which is in Grand Theft Auto, players can add their music but only if they have the copyrights to it. Meaning you cannot uploaded any of your music cds which your have brought as it gets stored on the server.

Pro’s
- Teamplay.
- Can be fun if you get a good team and a challenging enemy team.
- Customization on characters and vehicles, give your character up to 50 tattoos or give your car a paint job.
- Player Marketplace.

Neutrals
- One big map, no loading screens.
- PunkBuster Anti Cheat System, outdated but still there.

Con's
- Clients randomly crashes often.
- No weapons are permanent and only useable for a certain amount of days. You can purchase permanent weapons but only if you are willing to pay real life cash for them in item mail ($20 for permanent rifle with no ammo).
- You have to buy ammo for your own damn weapons, including premium permanent ones.
- Pay to win. All the good stuff is in item mail.
- Morons, like most games APBR has its fair share of morons which think its funny to start team killing people of giggles.
- Driving controls are shockingly bad on some cars making them almost impossible to drive.
- The enforcers can still ALL your money if you are a criminal and I mean all of it!
- Has no location damage system. You can shoot someone with a sniper twice in the head and they wont die.

Overall
If you take out the fact that no weapons are permanent unless you want to spend real life cash or spend stupid amount of in game money in the marketplace then the game is pretty good.

The driving system could be better but itd hardly used compared to walking and running.

The game does not have anything unique to offer players and your most likely better off buying Grand Theft Auto and having a blast on that. Most buildings in APB you cannot even enter. Most playeres have nicknamed the game "marmite".

Its ok for playing ever now and then or with friends but you will most likely get bored of it extremely quickly if you get placed in useless teams or have issues getting money to do up your character with new guns and gear. Sadly the game is already being considered for closure due to bad reviews, real money item mail value and its player base.

Your Score: 6/10

-1 for Driving system.
-1 due to pay to win item mail being unable to progress without real cash spending.
-1 for not using the full potential of the graphics engine.
-1 for griefing being beyond a joke

Good review. I have some fun in the game (mainly dicking around though XD) but there are some big drawbacks like you said.

The worst part for me is the fact that it's a third person shooter. I really dislike shooters in third person.

I agree that with a good team and good enemy team the game really ramps up in intensity. I've had several reallly memorable moments in the game. Although I always secretly wish that they'd make missions incorporate more players in them for larger battles, but oh well.

It was also kind of expected for a F2P game to follow the P2W format. Still dissapointinf though. It can get a bit ridiculous at times.

All in all It's a good game but it's rough around the edges. If APB: Reloaded was well... reloaded again with fixed features and gameplay then it would be even more enjoyable.

I have seen some F2P games with no P2W like navyfield. I have killed loads of item mail ships in that game with small ships.

APBR is a good game but its going to end up killing itself in the end.

It would most likely have more players if it reduced the price in item mail on perma weapons.

I played for a bit but then got bored. Unless your willing to spend money, you will be in a uphill battle. While paid items are not insta win, the advantage they gave to already good and experienced players is bogus. Not fun having your best gun not kill a guy after half a clip at close range when he turns around and two shots you. Matchmaking is also pretty busted. I lost plenty of missions because it was me vs two other people since one of them was ranked lower then me and having objectives where you sit there exposed made you an easy kill. The games ranking system is also broken. I was a silver level and no where near the end of doing all the missions. I kept getting put in games with "gold" level player and my available gear was inadequate. I could not even counter some players due to not having stuff unlocked. Overall the idea is good, would be better if it was a giant cops vs robbers game instead of instances, but has poor execution.

Dunno why but I'm addicted to this game, just 2 days playing with 46 hours game time and account threat silver already, this is the game that thought me I'm good with a sniper lol. + its really fun with friends around just messing with the physics is enjoying.

I don't think armas weapons are imbalanced. Yes they have more accuracy than regular ones and some more damage like the chicago type writer gun or hvr scouts, but I can easily take them out from a distance. Still based on the users how they use it.

The problem is no ingame monitoring so you may see gold people with snipers auto aiming the heck out of you

Report system exist your just blind :P lololol

:dodgy: and you say I'm cheeky. Well then its broken.

Hahahaha :D

Nope its not they read it, and if you have proper evidence like pics or vids, they'll ban them or warn.

They even banned 2000 people even if they are premnium users for hacking. I only hate why they have no in game admins monitoring the world like RTW era.

APB is weird. When it's fun it's very fun when it's frustrating it's a rage fest. It's very unique in it's gameplay but at times said gameplay feels very bland, go here, press F/camp. You lucky enough to get a good defend spot? GG. Lowering time to kill made it even easier for defenders in a game where you can corner camp without risk of exposing yourself.

IDK what to make of it... it's fun but at the same time when I look at it it feels like wasted potential of something that could be truly great.

For what it's worth:

Been playing it since Real Time Worlds closed beta, well over 1000 hours of gametime across all characters, participated in the APBR beta as well since the beginning, gold threat level (like that's even saying much given how easy it is to get gold).

Gameplay fun too, just find people with voip, tell them to stop ready on group, grab the nearest 4door vehicle rob some stores, mess with physics do tricks, troll ppl and stuff, also customization is I spend hours customizing clothes and symbols

Personally the game only kept me amused for a few hours.

The game was, as others have already mentioned, different from most MMO's - it felt sort of like how I'd imagined a GTA MMO would've looked like. The biggest problem I had with the game was that it felt incredibly repetitive(Yes, you can argue that a lot of MMO seems to have this tendency, but with only 3-4 different areas to explore, I felt that this game was even more so) and the "main quest" consisted of doing various open world missions to gain respect with certain people(Usually destroy/attack this, protect that).

I'm not certain I should say the game is bad, but rather it didn't appeal to me that much

community isnt bad, you just dont have the patience to find the time to meet people. I have so many friends now in there, that i can play with every day and voice communicate hell we made a clan and were like all playing all the time.

Not that im protecting the games image, unlike someone else, i enjoy the game very well

The community as a whole isn't that bad its just every now and then you get a few morons which try and ruin the game for everyone by either not helping you by killing you for no reason.

If you get some friend you know and go there like I did you can have loads of fun as long as the server isn't lagging you out all the time :P

I don't really lag until someone starts downloading something.

Crashes happen on 64bit but its only when connection to the server cuts randomly.
