CTD entering Rorikstead

So I just recently got my way thru most of Skyrim, unlocking many fast travel points for quest jumping. One of my last stops is Rorikstead, and I can't explain why but every time I get the "Rorikstead" label to pop up, I CTD within 2 seconds. Any ideas/ help would be much appreciated.

 

I haven't installed new "mods" per say, just a few armors that shouldn't be affecting cells.

Is there a reason (mod requirement?) you are not running USLEEP and running the patches individually?

It is not recommended to run the old patches individual as they have not been supported in some time, and most all mods are now favoring USLEEP.  If you want to find out what, if anything is altering Rorikstead, pop your entire mod list in to TES5Edit.  Open up Skyrim.esm and check the exterior Rorikstead cells listed here by ID.  This will at least show if you there is a mod altering the cells.  If you find one, disable it as a test, and try again.  If you don't, it's not a cell edit.

 

Could be that a quest is looking for  you to be in Rorikstead and that quest is hung/stuck or otherwise affected by one of your mods.  Since you have Alternate Start - you can test that out quickly.... Start up a new game, create the character with default settings, picking something like "escape from this cell" or that you are a patron in an inn like Sleeping Giant.  When you load out of the jail cell, go to Rorisktead and see if the issue happens.  You could try 'coc RoriksteadEdge' which should warp you to just on the outskirts, but not close enough to trip the map marker location discovered event.
