RandomUser88 Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 I'm pretty sure this mod hates me. The high heels system gives me no troubles anymore but the BU framework refuses to work. These are the steps I follow: 1. Download OBSE and install it. 2. Download BU Framework v2.00 and install it like the readme says, installing everything to Oblivion/Data. 3. Download and install Pack 1 plus all patches. Overwrite the BreakUndies.ini file as well as the folder called ini. 4. Download and install Pack 2. Apply patch. Overwrite if asked. 5. Start the game, that happens. I'm using Windows 7, in case that has anything to do with it.
gregathit Posted October 14, 2012 Author Posted October 14, 2012 Where do you have the game installed? Hopefully not in the program files directory. As to your install method - unzip everything to a temp folder first to check the folder paths and 'then' drag and drop it to the correct location - you need to do this to make sure you don't end up with any oblivion\data\data or oblivion\data\meshes\meshes type deals. Also make certain you are indeed starting the game with OBSE enabled (you should see a dos box pop up for about 1 second before the game starts). If you are using wrye bash you can click on the start game plus obse icon on the very bottom bar, or if your load order is set then you can just start the game with obse_loader.exe
RandomUser88 Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 I have it installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Oblivion
gregathit Posted October 14, 2012 Author Posted October 14, 2012 I have it installed in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Oblivion That is a huge no, no. You are going to be fighting with UAC and permissions from now to forever. The good news is there is a way to move your steam apps folder to a new location then uninstall steam and reinstall it to someplace like C:\games\Steam or C:\Steam or even another drive if you have one. Then you move the steam apps folder over and drop it in and all your games\mods will be back without you having to redownload or reinstall them. Detailed instructions on doing this here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129
RandomUser88 Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 What if I turn the UAC off? I may be having this issue because I was playing Oblivion on a laptop with Windows Vista then built a custom gaming pc with Windows 7 and moved the files over. Never gave me troubles with Vista because I had it off. I'm afraid of install all the Steam games I have because there are many. Edit: Okay, tried it and it wasn't as terrible as I thought but the problem persists. I'm going to wait because sometimes these problems fix themselves. Or it could just be a bad line in the BreakUndies.ini settings.
gregathit Posted October 14, 2012 Author Posted October 14, 2012 Archive invalidate and see if that helps things. It should not be a bad line in the ini file if you installed things properly as no one else has reported any issues. I myself have no errors either. The reason that you did need to move things even if you turned off UAC is that permissions would still give you fits. MicroCrap in their infinite wisdom (/heavy sarcasm) did not make the administrator the actual owner of many directories. I am sure this was to help combat hackers but in fact it makes it easier for them as the general user doesn't understand software as well. Anyways it is a mute point if you moved things. You are certain that the ini from pack two replaced the ini from pack one correct (which of course replaced the ini from the original BU framework mod). If you still have issues post your load order and let me know if it is a particular armor you are having issues with or the entire thing.

varenne Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 @ gregathit - Any particular reason for having the 7z files in the meshes folder? For example, Armors\MageCloth\battlemage\MageCloth3BBB3 nif file for MC battlemage.7z Also, as you move forward with adding in helmets it would be beneficial to keep those in a separate sub folder separated from the other armors. That would better support those of us running the latest PyFFI against your final meshes. Not a big deal though, I can just go through each folder and delete anything 'helmet' meshes related before I run PyFFI.

In the future I will indeed use a separate folder to park them in, to make it easy for me to add them to the CS and that should help you exclude that folder when you run PyFFI. I do plan on throwing in 5-10 helms that best would go with the armors in pack 3 but that pack will be won't be out until late November or perhaps even after Christmas as I am just to buried right now. [/quote'] As Varenne said you need to immediately grab BOSS and run that sucker!!!!! I am guessing that your load order is the problem. The shivering isles dlc should be WAY up towards the top of your esp files and not near the bottom. The BU Armors pack I made can also be placed at the top of your load order if you like as it "should" contain no conflicts. You do need to seriously consider merging or getting rid of some of those armor\weapon\clothing mods. The more of them that you have the greater potential that one (or more) of them have a dirty edit that scan mess up things in your game. The Ves Armors recolor stuff is included in my first BU pack (the armor anyway). The two colors were under my Night Arena armors. Not sure what else may have been in the Ves Armors esp but if that is it you could get rid of that one. Tes4Gecko makes merging those small armor\clothing\weapons mods together really easy.

That's how I'm doing it for now. If anyone has time to alter G's esp in CS, add and test the helmets included in the PyFFIed Armors folder (DSR was one with three helmets) and provide initial feedback that would be great and helpful to the both of us. On the ones you viewed in game did it seem to make any difference. I downloaded the armors and noticed that the files sizes are 'slightly' larger for the PyFFI'd meshes than the originals. That surprised me a bit. I guess that just goes to show me that I don't know much at all about the PyFFI process as I would have thought the optimizing would have shrunk the files size if it did anything at all. Mostly I have noticed the larger the file size the worse oblivion seems to handle things but that is just a general rule of thumb and not always the case. Anyways thanks for doing this and hopefully someone will give these a spin and let us know if it helps grab back a few FPS.

Aye, the difference in-game may not be that noticeable, it would be cumulative though; your MOD pllus other MODs being PyFFIed. It would be much more noticeable if say these were used on From 2ch Live NPCs or his army, or BU Dungeon since you'd have them in game in a greater qty. That's my PyFFI approach; find which ones would potentially benefit FPS/game performance first, others like armors, weapons and such later, depending on qty of them in-game. Yes, optimized doesn't always mean smaller file size, but optimized file structure, in this case a mesh, which has numerous optimization points. With me pursuing optimization plus my high-end, home-built PC, I'm reaching a point that it's hard for me to tell whether or not something has improved, since I've taken it to a point of max optimization and have my FPS hard-clamped at max 40FPS, even though my monitor can do 60FPS. It's be like fine tuning a race car engine, when it's already fine tuned, but you're experimenting to maybe get a little more gas mileage, or a quicker start, instead of just more HP.
gregathit Posted October 15, 2012 Author Posted October 15, 2012 Makes perfect sense to me. It is my intention in the future to spread these BU armors into other mods like Hentai Mania 1, From2chan lives and others so this is definitely something that I am interested in learning more about. I won't be messing with BU dungeons any as that mod to me is in need of a serious overhaul to make it friendly with other plugins. There are far two many scripts (many of which are the bu armor scripts left over from BU_Framework 1.02 when there was no ini file). I will have to be careful only to have respawning NPC's or those with auto armor repair scripting wear the armors or they will be walking around naked before too long. I am a long way from messing with that, but it is something for me to keep in mind. By the way I talked with Donkey this morning and apparently he is testing plugins with rev96 to see what works and what doesn't. He didn't say which he was doing but I asked him to let me know what he was testing and if he found any problems. The great thing about him doing this is his wealth of knowledge and ability to actually fix the mod to make it work with rev96. He did mention that lovers bitch isn't working properly with rev96 although he didn't go into specifics on what was wrong with it. I am going to try to track down Chase and see if he will take a look at it.

[/quote'] When you get to that point, then we'll probably want to look at the already PyFFIed meshes for Hentai Mania 1 & 2 et al. It was part of that torrent in the other thread over the weekend. Then again, it may be better to just start from scratch and go with the latest PyFFI version and generate new ones. I too have plans to work on changing armors used by From2chan lives and others, so we should set up a collaboration. I hadn't planned on using BU armors since I don't know yet how to get them to repair their own armor at some point, which I think would be a wanted function. Most of what I found for both was OBSE issues, but unlike Donkey I don't have the in-depth scripting knowledge to really make repairs. (I'm not recommending rev94 to anyone, better to go right to rev96. like you already mentioned in another thread/PM.) And yeah, I mentioned somewhere recently I'd love to see LoversBitch 'modernized' to OBSE ver20., that and the broken or incomplete scripts fixed. The other issues I feel are due to users not having an optimum setup for running even a moderately MOD'ed Oblivion. At some point, Wrye Bash becomes a necessity, not an option.

[/quote'] I am going to go from scratch on the Hentai Mania stuff as I don't like to have non BBB armors. I have had to do major work a rounds to get all of the Hentai Mania 1 stuff I have in Pack 2 have BBB in all states (including unbroken). That means I can't use any of the existing Hentai Mania stuff. It will likely be mid November at the very earliest before I even get into the planning stages of this so there is plenty of time to work out the details. I would be happy to collaborate with you. Even if we end up releasing separate mods I have no problem sharing any of the assets or other work that I do. I agree that the first thing to figure out is how to have NPC's repair their own armor periodically. It is possible for some to not have this feature that are in caves or ruins and you are their only enemy, but other NPC's that wander the game world must have something that triggers this. While I do enjoy the site of broken armor I want that to be an occasional thing and not the rule of thumb... Kewl! I had started to do the same but went back to rev94 for a short while to do it. I agree completely to skip versions 93 and 94 and go straight to 96 (or later if a new one comes out before we get finished). It is a complete waste of time\work to upgrade to the individual steps. Yea, I have been gently shoving folks towards Wrye Bash for a long, long time. I have the Wrye Bash pictorial guide on my browser speed dial (so to speak)...

Yeah, from scratch can often be better than trying to rework stuff, and I do recall you wanting to make it all BBB too. November is good for me also, way too involved in other stuff at the moment. It'd be a good idea I think to set up another thread much like you did for the status of the Lovers MODs, this way others can step up and volunteer too. Maybe by November we could find someone to help with the scripts, I'm also thinking the Companion MODs may hold some clues as to how to get the armor auto-repair done. I do recall at least one that had that. Kewl! I had started to do the same but went back to rev94 for a short while to do it. I am going back to rev96 though soon. varenne Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 On another note, I managed to play test the BSK Mage Lite armor and not only did I not have any issues, it does seem a bit faster and smoother going from the full state to the subsequent broken states. I'm also seeing better animation play, ranging from the Lovers H animations, to the blood spurts and NPC gang wars. It's just that much better. I'm targeting a few more of the armors for later this evening or tomorrow, especially the lite versions as that is what my PC mage uses mostly. Had to take a break as she completely and totally wore out all the Bloody Hand orcs and now needs to find some new playmates.
quasimodo75 Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I noticed there are many exotic armors around but no standard armors like iron, leather up to ebony, glass and so on. As an avid dungeon crawler I would like to see more like those converted to BU on bandits. Anybody up to that challenge?
gregathit Posted October 16, 2012 Author Posted October 16, 2012 I have several steel, iron and chainmail armors in pack 2 (which unfortunately does require pack 1 to be installed first). There are pictures of what is in pack 2 in the second post. I should have pictures up for the armors of pack 1 in a day or so. As to leather armors, I do plan to do some in pack 3 (they are quite tasty if I do say so myself) but that is a ways off. I have never seen any ebony so that probably won't happen. Glass is a possibility that I have kicked around and it will probably make pack 3. Remember I can't create stuff with blender so it has to be an existing mod that will allow me to pull off pieces (no vanilla armors or robes as most of them just plain are difficult to mess with). Links to screenshots along with links to download the armor you want, are the best way to get me motivated to make or include that armor for pack 3.
RandomUser88 Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I always use BOSS to sort the load order but I guess I could do it manually as well. We'll see how it goes.
varenne Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 NIF - Texture Mismatch While testing DSR Dark Sexy Mage it starts out right, DSRBodyB1a.nif pointing to the black texture, but for DSRBodyB2a.nif thru DSRBodyB5a.nif it then points to the white texture. Others in the set seemed okay, but I didn't thoroughly test/review them all.
varenne Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 I always use BOSS to sort the load order but I guess I could do it manually as well. We'll see how it goes. Make sure to update the masterlist. And yeah, BOSS will only get you partially to an optimum L.O. You still need to manually adjust some. I'd also review in OBMM for conflicts, it may help identify which MOD is causing your issue. With that many MODs, 210, you should also consider moving up to using Wrye Bash too. It's not hard with the pictorial guide gregathit mentioned, and I too have it on speed dial to refer back to when I need it. BUT, before even contemplating Wrye, you'll need to fix that LO.
