Reginald_001 Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 So what am I missing? I have 3 options: - Always update immediately - Update on Launch - High priority Updating HOW do you disable updating for just F4? I have over 500 games in my Steam library, many of them I DO want to keep updated. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
D_ManXX2 Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Did they remove option to not update ever ?? i am not sure i have not updated my steam in months so i am not sure what is different now. I only play ofline now that is the only way to prevent steam from ever updating the games it will still update itself when you go online but since it is offline the games will not update with it. People are giving adive to set the never allow background download but you need to change it for every game file it is the background downloads that make the game update automatic. YOU GO TO LIBRARY. RIGHT CLICK ON THE GAME....GOTO PROPERTIES...GOTO UPDATES...ON PAGE LOOK FOR "BACKGROUND DOWNLOADS"...BRING DOWN LIST AN CHOOSE "NEVER ALLOW BACKGROUND DOWNLOADS". I think they fully removed the option to never update, not sure when they did since my steam has not been updated in ages. I think now many people are pretty pissed with steam since they can not fully disable updates for games anymore. Not sure why they would even do that user should always have an option to fully disable game updates if they dont want that.
prinyo Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 Set it to Update on Launch. If you use F4SE - it should prevent update. If you do not use it - go offline when playing FO4. Alternatively you can allow te update to start downloading and then pause it. Apparently Steam will not auto-unpause.

Still stuck with the (latest) version at this point. Not sure how to get back to what it was without that content creation shit. Thanks though, at least I won't have any new nasty surprises now!
lordkabal26 Posted September 24, 2017 Posted September 24, 2017 There's a guide on reddit that shows how to use the steam console to download depots with older versions of the game executable for games you own on steam.
VonHelton Posted September 25, 2017 Posted September 25, 2017 Going offline is the only way I know of to stop updates. Be advised that if you don't update, you'll be left behind.
